Do you still have a ‘Hotmail’ email address

Keep seeing this mentioned on social media in videos or posts about being old 😳🤣
I have no plans to change my email but lots of people saying they hate giving their email address to people and having to say ‘@ hotmail.com’
I didn’t even realise new emails don’t still use this…

@flagpolesitta

I had a smile when I saw your post.

I have 4 email addresses, but my oldest is an msn.com one.Got it in early 1998 after Microsoft took over msn hotmail, but it has always worked and and the domain name is still supported by Microsoft. It works in outlook and my desktop email client etc.

I've never felt old saying it until now - though people do tend to ask how on earth I have got that email address😎

Twooclockrock · 28/03/2026 13:25

I do. I keep it for personal. Anything work or job application based I use a gmail. Hotmail gjves away your age old and makes you look backwards
in tech capabilities.

HootyMcBoobys · 28/03/2026 13:26

Yep.
Hotmail.com account with first name and maiden name with an underscore between them! Set it up in the early nineties.
I like the platform and find it user friendly.
I have MANY many many other email accounts on yahoo, gmail, aol, and other that I use periodically for free trials, coupon codes etc.
But Hotmail is my "real" email.
I will never change!

And this just kind of proves my point really…

What are you on about?

“Out of touch” as in not up with the latest tech/ platforms. Nowt to do with age. There are 70 year olds who are more up-to-date than some 40 year olds. I am definitely not young, I still know what platforms not to use and find it important because of my industry. You did read that part yes? If I am trying to get a job in marketing and have a Hotmail address it’s a bit 👀

TheBirdintheCave · 28/03/2026 13:29

Yep! Used it for 25 years and see no reason to change it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Namechangerage · 28/03/2026 13:30

Beachtastic · 28/03/2026 12:55

Don't be ageist! I'm nearly 70 and don't use hotmail 🌞

Exactly!!!

JaceLancs · 28/03/2026 13:32

I’m so old I have a btopenworld email!

blueberrysoap · 28/03/2026 13:33

Yes full [email protected]

Cherrysoup · 28/03/2026 13:33

Lifewontbethesame · 28/03/2026 10:59

Yes, with my full name, no numbers/special characters, I'm that old 🤣

Exactly this! It was my first email address. I’ve obviously had work addresses over the years and a gmail address or two, but I don’t think I’ve ever used those.

The connotations of being out of touch relates to age, don’t pretend otherwise. I am not being ageist I called it out as BS, I am pointing out the ageism in the workplace which has declared this as out of touch. It’s incredibly naive to pretend otherwise. Because why would it be ‘out of touch’ to have a Hotmail email address? It’s an email account, a Gmail account provides no greater value, it’s about aesthetics, looking ‘on trend’. And we all know that pertains to youth. When Hotmail was being made fun of it; it was because it was quintessential millennial, gasp. No different to making fun of side partings and trainer socks. “You’re old”.

confusedcars · 28/03/2026 13:39

Yes, I’ve had my Hotmail for over 30 years. Can’t change it now as it’s linked to so many subscriptions an accounts.

Nosejobnelly · 28/03/2026 13:39

I do! A .com one. Also have a gmail but I don’t use it.

Channellingsophistication · 28/03/2026 13:43

My hotmail is .co.uk but my friend's is .com and like others mine is my full name and surname all one word. And also one in my old married name too!

Isobel201 · 28/03/2026 13:48

I use hotmail because I had a talktalk email account that refused to work on my apple phone.

Callmebubblesdarlingeverybodydoes · 28/03/2026 13:52

I have an AOL account that I can’t remember the password for 😂

AlexandraPeppernose · 28/03/2026 13:55

I have a main hotmail.com and a secondary Hotmail.co.uk

DeathBanana · 28/03/2026 13:55

CallingOnTheMegaphone · 28/03/2026 11:06

Hahaha you've just reminded me that a uni friend's email address was [name]loveslasagne at Hotmail. I wonder if she still uses that?! I've always been a Yahoo girl myself.

Mine isn’t dissimilar and incudes my childhood nickname as the cherry on the cake 🙈

Those people whining need to get a grip.
Had hotmail since the late 90s and not changing now.

MrsMillyFluff · 28/03/2026 13:56

I did have till 2 years ago. It was hacked, along with my PayPal, Facebook and Giffgaff. They took £400 out of my PayPal/bank account. Needless to say I no longer have a Hotmail account 🥴

TheChosenTwo · 28/03/2026 13:58

I had a yahoo one (a constant source of amusement to my kids) until very recently where I got locked out and couldn’t get back in. So now have a gmail one. It’s actually quite liberating how few emails I now receive!

Tiddlywinks63 · 28/03/2026 14:00

HarrietPierce · 28/03/2026 11:04

Yes Full name at co.uk

Me too!

ThatAgileLimeCat · 28/03/2026 14:00

Ohfudgeoff · 28/03/2026 11:05

Full maiden name for me. 😂

Same here 🤣

Pinklady81 · 28/03/2026 14:00

I do ... what's the alternative I'd love to know??

LBFseBrom · 28/03/2026 14:03

Yes I do though they are now Outlook.

Member984815 · 28/03/2026 14:05

ChessieFL · 28/03/2026 12:45

Full name dot com here too. Still in my maiden name - every so often I think I should upgrade but I really can’t be arsed with the hassle of working out how to set up a new email address, how to add it to my phone, and then updating all the accounts I’ve got with the new email. I’ve had it since about 1997 and it’s part of me now.

I’ve also had the same mobile number for at least 20 years.

I did read somewhere (no idea if it’s true) that some companies price higher for customers with a Hotmail address - because it shows we’re set in our ways and less likely to change things, so they take the gamble we won’t move and will just suck up the higher prices.

My mobile has remained the same , 26 years now , whenever I'm trying to contact my provider I have to quote my maiden name my 2 previous addresses and the wrong birthday they registered it under just in case 😅
