Do you still have a ‘Hotmail’ email address

Keep seeing this mentioned on social media in videos or posts about being old 😳🤣
I have no plans to change my email but lots of people saying they hate giving their email address to people and having to say ‘@ hotmail.com’
I didn’t even realise new emails don’t still use this…

I’ve got a Hotmail email address but really don’t care what the kids think as those haircuts the lads have look fucking stupid 😂

sharkstale · 28/03/2026 11:44

Yep, full name with year of birth @hotmail.co.uk🤣 and I do realise it makes me sound so old when I give it out, but this thread has made me feel rather proud of it 😂

LashesZ · 28/03/2026 11:44

Yes - I proudly own a Hotmail.com email. What even are the other alternatives??

It's not quite as bad as an AOL email address, which I actually saw recently!

Who cares, as long as it works. But not for job applications 😬

Mine is AOL! I haven't changed it since 1997. Ought I to?

PashaMinaMio · 28/03/2026 11:45

Mine sounds Italian!
Youngsters can’t spell it. It’s very very old.
Full.name@italian sounding domain.co.uk
It’s rather sophisticated. I have no desire to change it.

Chuffingcupboard · 28/03/2026 11:45

I was talking to the bank yesterday who wanted to confirm my email was still valid...yes, [email protected] it since 2000 when I moved jobs.
I do have a Gmail too but don't use it much.
10 years ago I was told not to use it on a CV as it was old fashioned...

Mines an original .com address.

Mine too! I don't care what anyone says about it. I have another but never use it.

Yes with those stupid fringes. Must get greasy and pimply underneath!

ElizabethsTailor · 28/03/2026 11:47

It’s definitely retro cool.

I set mine up so long ago that it is just (common) first name and first letter of surname @ hotmail.com

I still work in cutting edge tech and use it when professional networking.

Mines an original .com address.

Mine too! It even has part of a very 90’s band name in there too 😂 I’ve had it since I was 13 and use it for everything still.

Yogisunflower91 · 28/03/2026 11:48

Yes I still have mine, cannot be bothered to change it, as it’s linked to EVERYTHING 😅

JoanChitty · 28/03/2026 11:49

I have a Hotmail.co.uk email but my Dh has a whsmithnet.co.uk email. I cannot be bothered to change it.

ruethewhirl · 28/03/2026 11:50

I have one, but it's from so long ago I can't remember it, and there's little to no chance I'd remember the password. Hope I haven't missed any offers of a fortune from Nigerian princes and the like.

I’ve got an aol one aswell 😂 but i’ve also got icloud aswell

superchick · 28/03/2026 11:52

Yep [email protected] my parents have the same because I set theirs up too. I have a Gmail address but thats just use to set up my phone and link to Google services and my kids.

SerendipityJane · 28/03/2026 11:52

I got mine in 1996. It's still "live", as in receiving things I can't be arsed to unsubscribe from. However I'm not keen on being in thrall to someone elses services. A lot of people have come unstuck relying on 3rd party email providers.

Whatifitallgoesright · 28/03/2026 11:54

I have a Yahoo address which my son laughed at. I've needed to make another one for jobs and made another Yahoo one as I can't face something new. Now I realise that leaving age off CV will make no difference as they will know. Sigh.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 28/03/2026 11:56

Have my full name including middle initial at .com. Registered in 1997. Anyone who sneers at it can F right off. If anything it shows that I was computer literate for decades before them.

Takis · 28/03/2026 11:58

Yes I have a Hotmail.co.uk which I use every day, my 14 year old told me yesterday you apparently can’t make a .co.uk one anymore much to his disappointment

No, treasure it as a vintage item! Just don't apply for any IT jobs 🫣😁

RaraRachael · 28/03/2026 11:59

I've always had a hotmail email address and have no intention of changing it.

What is the issue with it?

AmadeustheAlpaca · 28/03/2026 11:59

I had no idea that this was a thing, I'm a Hotmail person. Is this a sinister marketing attempt by Google to subtly flood the Internet with the implication that Hotmail is deeply uncool and boring so that everyone sets up a Gmail account instead. Is this part of their bid to control everyone through their Gmail?
What email accounts are cool apart from Gmail? So many questions.

TheEasterBunny3 · 28/03/2026 12:00

Ive got an aol.com email address. Absolutely love it. My name & 2 numbers. So easy to remember, no-one misspells it & as everyone has it I'm not changing it ever.

Peridot1 · 28/03/2026 12:01

I have my full name @ hotmail.com too. Set up in late 90s on our first computer. No intention of changing it. I have a gmail one too but don’t use it for much.

The cheek of the younger generation telling us it’s old fashioned! We thought them to use a spoon and wipe their bums!
