Wrong thread, love?

CheeryOP · 03/03/2026 20:52

I agree that Starmer is handling foreign policy very well in difficult circumstances.

WhatsConfusingYouIsTheNatureOfMyGame · 03/03/2026 20:53

The Iranian regime does loathe the UK, it just can't reach us to bomb us. Neither them getting longer range bombs nor the UK floating down the Med to get close enough to be within range are very likely.

Lemonfrost · 03/03/2026 18:02

Not a KS fan but FULLY behind him on this. Trump is an odious, ill educated, bloated oaf who is incapable of doing anything other than causing chaos and slinging insults. The fact he still occupies the White House beggars belief. It's high time we stood up to this vile excuse for a human being and put him straight once and for all.

Hrft but this. Exactly how I feel.

persephonia · 03/03/2026 20:58

BIossomtoes · 03/03/2026 20:51

Of course it does. 🙄

To be fair they aren't wrong.
I don't think bombing them will help with that perception and I don't think any new regime (if that happens) is guaranteed to view us better. Or if Trump does succeed in installing some kind of friendly authoritarian puppet regime then when that regime gets overthrown by hardliners we will be right back to square one.
I would much rather we just concentrate on defending our country and military bases which is a different thing to bombing Iran.

LauraNorda · 03/03/2026 18:30

So, British territory in Akrotiri has been hit, despite the UK taking no part in the military action on Iran up until that point and our navy has nothing to defend it so we have to rely on the French and people support Starmer?

How low we have sunk. Not lifting a finger to help our allies against an insane theocracy, exporting death throughout the Middle East and beyond.

Trump is right, Starmer is no Winston Churchill.

When was the US last our "ally"?

Lemuelschild · 03/03/2026 21:00

Kier Starmer has made one good decision. I applaud him for standing up to the big American bully.

rememberingthem · 03/03/2026 21:00

Keir Starmer and his government make me deeply ashamed to be British!

Happyjoe · 03/03/2026 21:01

Starmer was good when the Orange baby misremembered Europeans and Brits in the last war trigger happy USA started too.

Am so thankful for him right now but the UK prob get 100% tariffs next week, ha.

I assumed the majority of people on this thread just wanted to take the risk that worrying reports of Iran's nuclear progress were inaccurate (which seemed foolhardy to me!).
Given the replies I've read in the last couple of pages though, I think people are just entirely ignorant of Iran's historical and modern-day geopolitical hostilities towards the UK. One poster appears to actually think I'm making it up!

You do realise that the American people pay the tariffs. We ( the UK exporters), pay nothing.

I would but mine is a useless Tory who would probably write back to disagree with me.

I would but mines Braverman.

Ill say no more!

Agree with those saying Starmer has made the right call and one of the best decisions he’s made so far.

Perhaps Starmer concerned if we join the attack he’s putting Uk at risk of retaliation whether that is air strikes or terrorism …
Starmer is a smart guy. Smarter than hot air Badenoch, Farage and Trump. I just hope he’s made the right call here. I think he probably has. I think he’s right to fear Iran’s retaliation . Trump saw an opportunity to strike and has effectively taken one for the team. Iran could not have been allowed to enrich uranium, of course they wanted to build a nuclear weapon. And Israel needs protecting .

What you assume is of course up to you, but don't attribute what you've randomly made up to other people.

Iran isn't going to re-evaluate their animosity based on this; even Starmer isn't that naive.

Starmer's decision was made to appease parties within our own border (not least, within his own divided party).

Me too. I’ve googled it and no information about a KS speech today seems to be available. Does anyone have a link please?

Beetlebumz · 03/03/2026 21:11

Me too op. I feel quite proud that we have a PM that is willing and strong enough to stand up to Trump and not drag us into this mess. It’s really made me a lot more likely to vote labour tbh. I feel safe that’s he’s sensible and responsible compared to that orange lunatic!!

daisychain01 · 03/03/2026 21:13

The more he speak the more he confirms he's a narcissist.

hurls insults and stomps his foot when he doesn't get his way.

sour grapes "that stupid island" (Chagos Islands) ... so undignified.

and he was rambling on about how much he loved the UK, his mother was born there, his father was born there (No, mate, your father was born in New York!!! 😂) pathetic.

Starmer rocks.

As Israel is doing most of the attacking it can protect itself. Countries like the US should just leave them to it.
