OK, I see which side you are on.

Trump wanted something Starmer had. After the request came through, why didn't Starmer say 'no problem, but zero tarriffs on British goods until your presidency ends'. You know, standing up for British interests and economy. Trump would probably appreciate the deal and grant it, but no. Starmers too busy trying to appease muslim voters here.

Blokes a total wetwipe.

oh i had no idea you had the ear of Trump or Starmer....

Fact is, US didn't need either base.

You sound a little over invested in Trump.

sashaski · 04/03/2026 15:15

Starmer has got one thing right since election
Will not make me a supporter
He has increase costs to business which has destroyed jobs and reduced tax take
Done nothing about illegal immigration
Raised taxes
he is a joke

I know it seems a bit of an odd question to ask.

But has anyone joined the UK armed forces who wants to fight ?

I really am struggling to wonder who joins an army if they aren't prepared to fight - almost always in situations they may not agree with.

It’s not odd, it’s highly pertinent. I’m married to someone who literally put his life on the line in the Falklands and on two tours of N Ireland. For him it’s risible that anyone in the armed forces wouldn’t understand that’s expected of them.

The leadership of Iran is many things but they are not madmen.

There is a logic to their actions even if we disagree with it.

The dictator of the US, however....

Better to say there is an internal logic to their actions.

Equally the President of the United States is not a madman.

There is an internal logic to his actions even if we disagree with it.

Oh, he isn't mad. However his drivers are so far removed from reality he may as well be.

He once suggested injecting bleach and posted a viseo of him spreading shit over people.

Is that not mad man behaviour?

"Mad" to you. But in his own head it made perfect sense. That was pointed out at the time. Sadly the other people it made perfect sense to voted him in.

ExtraOnions · 04/03/2026 17:35

Sinking a ship, in international waters, that is not any threat to you, taking part in current hostilities, and is not a current annd active threat is against International law.
It should made ALL countries very worried, they think they can do what they want.
I can only hope the Yanks bankrupt themselves, before they start randomly torpedoing ships, from any country they don’t like.

If you are British, be careful, there is the Belgrano ....

Seen in passing

The impossible has happened - Trump has made me a Keir Starmer supporter!
pouletvous · 04/03/2026 17:38

Churchill my arse!

This could be Starmer’s springboard to popularity! PMs often gain popularity due to war

this time let it be because he resisted

I guess with internal logic you can get away with much

it's really not against any laws.

Also declared entirely legal. Belgrano was inside the exclusion zone, though it was just as legitimate a target outside of it TBH.

I’d stop making assertions like this unless you’re a qualified international law specialist.

I repeat the initial starting point from which all else flows.

War is hell.

Once you "get that" (is there anyone here who hasn't ?) then all else follows. Friendly fire ? You bet. Confused lines of command ? Definitely. Mistakes in supplies ? Wouldn't be without it. Dead civilians ? Of course - how many do yout want ? Dead children ? Why should kids miss the fun ? Was that a gun or a white flag ? Oops ! Too late.

I hope you get the picture.

Now if any of that isn't to your liking then either do everything in your power to stop it. Otherwise ... well that is war. And invariably it's why the people that fought the last one never want to fight another. Which we would know if we hadn't waited until they were no longer with us.

Well maybe they shouldn’t have invaded the Falklands.

Somebody can have a psychotic episode and think aliens are coming for them. It all makes perfect sense to them in their own minds. Unfortunately, the rest of us live in the real world - not in their minds.

You reckon that a deal with six-times bankrupt Trump is worth the paper it's written on?

How has he done nothing about immigration? Net migration under the Tories nearly reached 1 million per year, nearly ten times the 100k they used to promise.

Net migration in the year to June 2025 was 204k. So Starmer has actually done quite a good job of cleaning up the Tories' mess.

Equally the President of the United States is not a madman.

There is an internal logic to his actions even if we disagree with it.

What is that logic? I can't see what he hopes to achieve so how would I know whether I agree or disagree with it?

Unless this is just a big distraction from the Trumpstein Files. I can see that logic, even though everyone already knows how bad they must be for him.
