How has he done nothing about immigration? Net migration under the Tories nearly reached 1 million per year, nearly ten times the 100k they used to promise.

Net migration in the year to June 2025 was 204k. So Starmer has actually done quite a good job of cleaning up the Tories' mess.

Nothing about illegal immigration.

Sinking a ship, in international waters, that is not any threat to you, taking part in current hostilities, and is not a current annd active threat is against International law.
It should made ALL countries very worried, they think they can do what they want.
I can only hope the Yanks bankrupt themselves, before they start randomly torpedoing ships, from any country they don’t like.

The US national debt is nearly $39tn (most of which was accumulated by the Republicans, so much for "fiscal responsibility"). The only thing which stops this all unravelling is the fact that the dollar is the main international reserve currency. If dedollarisation happens, the US will implode in a way we've never seen before.

Much of the decrease to immigration is due to measures taken by the previous government.

PinkCatCushion · 04/03/2026 21:29

We just need to put leaders like Donald Fart, Putin and Netanyahu in a stadium and let them fight each other to death. It would save so many lives and the warmonger leaders might think twice.

How many Iranians will now be looking to follow all of the Iraqis and Syrians into Europe because Trump is bombing them?

The previous government also saw the highest immigration number in 2022.

But if you are talking about refugees, what impact do you think a new war has?

I wasn't

DdraigGoch · 04/03/2026 21:21

What is that logic? I can't see what he hopes to achieve so how would I know whether I agree or disagree with it?

Unless this is just a big distraction from the Trumpstein Files. I can see that logic, even though everyone already knows how bad they must be for him.

Trump's motives for the attack on Iran have been publicly stated if you look:

Destroying Iran's missile capabilities;
Annihilating Iran's navy;
Preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons;
Ensuring the regime can't continue to arm, fund or direct "terrorist armies" outside its borders.
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/why-us-attack-iran-trump-administration/

Now you might strongly disagreed with these motives or question if they are achievable (I know I do) but you cannot fail to see what Trump's motives are or question if they exist because they have been publicly disclosed.

Equally to suggest that this is a distraction attempt from the Epstein files publication is a batshit conspiracy theory unless you have any actual evidence or links to back it up.

DuncinToffee · 04/03/2026 22:07

He also said he was a president of peace

Trump lies.

1dayatatime · 04/03/2026 17:20

Equally the President of the United States is not a madman.

There is an internal logic to his actions even if we disagree with it.

Listening to Trump and the rest of the WH today, i could have been mistaken into thinking it was the Kremlin, justifying civilian deaths as the price of war, they sounded deranged and v dangerous.

Gloating at the sinking of the Iranian battleship and the 100 plus men who have drowned, a ship 1000s of miles away from the conflict.

Trump appears to have some cognitive issues, he really does believe what he is doing and saying is good for the world, there is nothing logical to what he is doing.

Ah the good ole "Bad things happen = Labours fault"

"Good things happen = Tories are responsible"

I see the 'Mail is blaming the lack of Frigates on Labour.... nothing to do with the Tories cutting frgiate numbers from 13 to 9 in their 14 years in power then.... and that 9 is really 6 or less as most of time, boats laid up/no crew/weapons etc

And when asked who fired on the school and killed all those girls, Leavitt said they were not sure.

Leavitt also said that Trump decided to launch strikes against Iran based on a 'feeling' that Tehran was going to attack US interests.

DuncinToffee · 04/03/2026 22:34

Cornishclio · 04/03/2026 22:35

I am pleased he stood up to Trump and I like him better now. I really don’t want Reform in at the next GE nor Conservative as they both seem to be singing from Trumps playbook.

His chief stated aim was regime change. I heard the words come out of his mouth just after the US attack. Trump and some of his team clearly thought that, if they murdered the supreme leader, the Iranians would rise up and remove their leaders. They even begged them to do this- see S Graham, for example. This has not happened and there are no signs of it happening, at least at present. On the contrary, they appear to have been taken aback by the strength of the Iranian response, despite the fact that the Iranians gave very clear warnings that they would retaliate if attacked. They are now in a situation where they have no strategy whatsoever and no plan. They also don't have huge stockpiles of weapons, especially as they are also fighting a proxy war with Russia and supplying Ukraine with weapons too.

We've already chatted about the Epstein files and I've explained why there is no public evidence already. 🙄

rainingsnoring · 04/03/2026 22:38

Starmer has apprently stated that Trump has no plan which is clearly true.
I think history will look kindly on his decision, depending on what happens in coming days/weeks/months. The US decision, in following Israel into a war on Iran, will likely be judged very harshly in the future.

Anonymouseposter · 04/03/2026 23:04

On News at Ten tonight I was really shocked at the briefing from America. The language was so flippant and aggressive. They’re toast and they will soon know it, we’ll win without mercy etc. No “ regretfully this is necessary for Xxx reasons” but just revelling in it with total lack of concern for suffering or casualties. I’m glad Starmer is being cautious.

What do you think the USA will use UK air bases for, if not 'bombing'?
