Context that my dad said he couldn’t believe I was eating “all that”
don’t judge the oven food, it’s Thursday and I’m tired!

Ok. But that’s not really enough for an adult.

2 fish fingers, a few potatoes and veg is what I'd feed a preschooler! I'm not a big eater at all and rarely finish a meal, and even I don't think OPs dinner is too much at all for a grown adult.

I normally just have the one fish finger. With lots and lots of steamed broccoli and some salad with light dressing.

Are you quite sedentary?

FlibbertyGibbitt · 05/02/2026 19:53

Three fish fingers, chips, beans and a slice of bread and butter, tomato sauce on the side. I want that now !

You can say whatever you like - other people are allowed to find it ridiculous though.

Eating normally? I don’t know what’s so hard about understanding that people have different appetites.

I wouldn’t eat that much. Who the fuck cares.

Mumwithbaggage · 05/02/2026 19:53

@GalaxyJam no, I'm lying!

FlorenceAndTheSewingMachine · 05/02/2026 19:53

I would be buttering some bread as nothing beats a fish finger sandwich.

bringonyourwreckingball · 05/02/2026 19:53

I couldn’t/wouldn’t eat that much but I am post menopause and post chemo and both have massively affected my appetite (although sadly not my weight)

FurForksSake · 05/02/2026 19:54

I prefer battered fish fingers to be honest.

Limehawkmoth · 05/02/2026 19:54

I’d go 4 fish fingers (pack of playing card size of protein I was taught), I wouldn’t have fries like that, but a fist size full. Unlimited veg .

so not far off…maybe if you’d stacked the fish fingers more it’d have looked less 😉🤷‍♀️🤣

Gowlett · 05/02/2026 19:55

2 fingers, 3 max. Potato thingies & veg, I’d eat no probs.

Imdunfer · 05/02/2026 19:55

fishfingergate · 05/02/2026 19:36

They’re potato waffle fries Grin

Maximum surface area for fat absorption. I wouldn't eat them personally.

As to portion size, it all depends what your weight is, which you haven't responded to.

FranticFrankie · 05/02/2026 19:56

But sweetcorn OP... food of the devil 😈
Love those fries though; I'd swap a couple of fish fingers for more fries thanks

BendingSpoons · 05/02/2026 19:56

I'd have at least 6 fish fingers, possibly 8 for dinner. My primary DC will often eat 6 fish fingers. Possibly slightly less potato to balance more fish. So to me it's a perfectly reasonable portion.

For someone who "doesn't give a shit" and keeps telling me to bore off, you're very quick to reply to all my posts 😉

You did start it. And I’m not the one who cant understand that people do things differently. It seems to be tricky for you.

SamPoodle123 · 05/02/2026 19:57

I think it depends on the person. That would be a normal meal size for me all the way up until 40 and always tall/slim. But after 40 I gained a few lbs eating like that, so now I need to reduce a little.

propercoppercoffeepot · 05/02/2026 19:57

I'd eat that plus more veg. I'm active and petite. We are all different!

Thecows · 05/02/2026 19:57

Probably all of the fish fingers and none of the fries, bit of the veg. I have a very small appetite though and your pic looks totally normal. Your Dad's chops and chips though! I mean, yuk, how unappetising

Anyone else fancying that for dinner?

I’d probably go for 3 fish fingers myself. But I wouldn’t be judging that as excessive.

Hope you enjoyed your dinner op and can Get an early night

plsdontlookatme · 05/02/2026 19:58

I would usually have more than that for a main meal, but your mileage will vary based upon height/activitiy levels/muscle mass/snacking

You, apparently, as you keep replying!

FlyingApple · 05/02/2026 19:58

Is that nice to eat? Genuinely wondering.

caringcarer · 05/02/2026 19:58

I might eat a few less potatoe things but definitely I'd eat 5 fish fingers and the peas. I don't like sweetcorn so I wouldn't eat that.

cardibach · 05/02/2026 19:26

Ok. But that’s not really enough for an adult.

It's barely enough for a child.

PilatesAndLattes · 05/02/2026 19:59

I’d eat that easily and I have an underweight BMI.
