Context that my dad said he couldn’t believe I was eating “all that”
don’t judge the oven food, it’s Thursday and I’m tired!

Looks like a normal plate to me. Though I would only have 3 FFs. And probably more fries.

(right in the middle of the green BMI chart)

I could easily eat all of that, but it would slow down my digestion. I have no issue with the amount, but at 48 I'd need it to be 50% veg to get enough fibre. Swap the chips out for salad, I'm good with 5 fish fingers, more than enough carbs with the bread coating.

All those processed carbs would bloat me and cause "difficulties". Maybe that's why your dad made that comment?

I had fruit and fibre with flaxseed, freeze dried strawberries and a banana for breakfast so I’m all good that way!

Over how many days ?

100 of course, she's not greedy.
😂

Pairymoppins · 05/02/2026 20:47

I am stunned that anyone would think two fish fingers is a portion!

sHREDDIES19 · 05/02/2026 20:48

For me it’s completely normal, if anything, a little small! I don’t eat fish fingers as I’m a veggie but I love hearty healthy food and eat plenty and always have done. I don’t overeat but I have a good appetite. I’ve always been the same size.

fishfingergate · 05/02/2026 20:21

Which 2?

The 4 pieces of meat dish, and the bowl of pasta. Both huge portions (sorry!) but if you’d done a lot of exercise that day, they’re fine.

Bobbiemay · 05/02/2026 20:49

I would eat about that but maybe 1 or 2 less fishgingers.

PeloMom · 05/02/2026 20:50

My 7 yr old would eat all that

Joeydoesntsharefood25 · 05/02/2026 20:50

Chat gpt estimates around 700 calories. So whether its too big a portion depends on what your TDEE is and what else you have eaten today and whether you plan to eat anything else? So dont worry about what others think. Ps it looks tasty

Why would you be stunned? Dont you understand people eat different amounts and have different capacities?

The meat one is my dads, not mine
funnily someone else said the pasta was tiny!

Why sorry? They’re entirely normal portions to me, but I’m active. I can see that if you’re quite sedentary they look small, but there’s no need to be sorry about that, you just need to adjust your own portion sizes accordingly!

ClaredeBear · 05/02/2026 20:53

I’d have three fish fingers and probably about the same amount of everything else.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/02/2026 20:53

I don’t think it looks like that much - that looks like a regular sized plate and it isn’t full.

I would probably eat that many fish fingers but maybe not so many potato things, or different potato things - but that’s mainly because I don’t think I like that sort of potato waffles. I’d had that much veg but perhaps a different type of veg.

soupyspoon · 05/02/2026 20:54

I like it that people are saying fishgingers.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 05/02/2026 20:55

I feel jealous as I'm.WLI so I couldn't eat that much right now even if wanted too unfortunately.

My eldest son could eat that six times a day and retain his 28" waist. Git

Tubbyinthehottub · 05/02/2026 20:57

It looks a bit small to me for a main meal.

SherbetDipDap · 05/02/2026 20:59

DH has been known to have 10+ fishfingers -he is 6ft 3 and has a 6 inch waist, it’s infuriating!

5 would be a normal amount for me, happily. If I was trying to save on calories, the thing I’d have slightly less of would be the fries but they look delicious so let’s face it, I’d definitely scoff the lot.

Aluna · 05/02/2026 20:59

fishfingergate · 05/02/2026 19:57

I did them in the air fryer, no added oil
overweight, 5ft 11
weight is down to a few things including inability to exercise post op for a while and a fucked thyroid but always hungry. Can’t do WLI

If you’re not much overweight I wouldn’t worry about it.

But if you are - two areas you could consider is cutting UPFs and cutting portion size.

I sometimes have gluten free fish fingers for lunch. I either do 4 + salad or if I’m having carbs as well I have 2.

GetAbsOrDieTrying · 05/02/2026 20:59

fishfingergate · 05/02/2026 20:35

Yes overweight. Normal BP, bloods all good including blood sugars, cholesterol etc except for my stupid thyroid
lots of autoimmune conditions which mean I’m permanently shattered
when I’m not shattered I do spin, weights, yoga etc

As a one off it is fine. You are tired and you ate it, no point beating yourself up about it. But if you want to lose weight then try to make better choices. The vegetables look good. Eat it with sweet potato fries for fiber and maybe a can of tuna?!

cardibach · 05/02/2026 20:59

PopVix · 05/02/2026 19:50

So if I am hungry and shovel it down quickly, that means I demonise eating? Have I misunderstood?

Shovel it down? That’s a phrase describing greed and not enjoyment. So yes.

Edit to add - I’d say ‘ I was really hungry so I inhaled it a bit’ or similar. I wouldn’t use a metaphor involving a massive utensil.

rainbowsandraspberrygin · 05/02/2026 20:59

Look delicious and I would eat that!! Fish fingers dont much in them and the waffle fries (look yummy!) have gaps!

I might even have more - would depend on the day and what I’d eaten for lunch of course.

hope you enjoyed it!!

horrible when people judge your food portions.

Cherrytree86 · 05/02/2026 21:01

QuantumPanic · 05/02/2026 20:41

I can't believe people are saying it's a big portion? I thought the first comment was a joke of the 'massive salad' variety, but people are obviously being sincere.

It's about half of what I'd eat.

@QuantumPanic

come on now, you wouldn’t eat double that…
