Jogger shoulder barged me today.

I was walking my dog this afternoon, when out of nowhere, a male jogger shoulder barged me. It was very intentional and my shoulder still aches now.

He carried on jogging, and we had the following exchange.

Me: excuse me! You just could have said excuse me!
Him: you took up all the path
Me: thats why you say excuse me! You wouldnt do that to a man.

He jogged futher on then said 'yes I would' and gave me the v's.

I live in a small village so likey to see him again. Should I report?

He was wearing a very distintive jogging outfit, but he kept his back to me, so I could not see his face. His legs were bare, so I could guess he was 60 plus as they were old man legs.

I feel like I was assulted!

People barge everywhere. Its becoming common to just shove your way through life.

Really? Shoulder barging?

RightOnTheEdge · 29/01/2026 19:34

Buy a stinger and lay in wait for him to come past again.

I was barged hard last week whilst on a dog walk

the barger was a woman

This is not a man versus women issue

Except a man is generally going to barge a hell of a lot harder than a woman would.

tessanilesisanicon · 29/01/2026 19:34

You were assaulted.

taxguru · 29/01/2026 19:35

If that happened to me I'd trip him up if I saw him again coming towards me! And no, I'm not joking!

Joggers and Cyclists on footpaths can be some of the most horrid inconsiderate arseholes out there!

bumptybum · 29/01/2026 19:36

Andflop · 29/01/2026 19:17

we are talking about an inconsiderate twat

not violence

He intentionally physically hurt someone. What is that if not assault.

had he hit her out of the way with his arm or hand or kicked her out of the way I’m sure you would call it assault. What makes a forceful hit with a shoulder any different?

ChewedEar · 29/01/2026 19:39

Next time you see him pretend to take a photo of him or film him.

When he asks what you're doing tell hi you're taking a video or photo to support the police report you made about him.

Or pretend to livestream him and say you've got a channel calling inconsiderate, mediocre middle-aged jogging men with ugly legs.

greengreyblue · 29/01/2026 19:39

Today in the news a teenager stabs a young lad walking home from school because he could and it turns out he had hurt several other people just because he liked it . It’s not a million miles away. The world is a scary place right now.

TheSlantedOwl · 29/01/2026 19:40

It’s assault, and shouldn’t be minimised.

Log it with the non emergency police.

Tableforjoan · 29/01/2026 19:40

Had a women jogger do this to me before when I was out with my the toddler because me looking down at my toddler walking one side of the path leaving the whole other side clear was in the way according to her.

She got a few slightly twisted to become polite impolite words thrown her way.

I would be fucking upset! And would express that.

Shoulder barging someone is assault.

How would you “express” being fucking upset @TwentyFourHoursToTulsa ?

CosmicTea · 29/01/2026 19:42

Dreadful. Do you remember that male jogger that pushed a woman into the road on a bridge in London? I don't think they ever caught him did they. There are some dangerous knobs around. They must have serious anger issues to assault lone females. Scary.

Oh yes! Was he ever caught?

This happened to me when I was on holiday abroad about 10 years ago. He barged me with his huge shoulder so hard he really hurt my neck and I had to fly home unable to straighten my head properly - it was like a really bad cricked neck. He didn’t apologise or even look at me - just carried on jogging.

SharpLimeDreamer · 29/01/2026 19:50

Carry a ball ( for your dog, of course) and throw it ( for your dog, of course) and.....whoops!

Chickadiddy · 29/01/2026 19:54

Of course this is a man Vs woman issue!!!!!

There is NO WAY this dickhead would have barged a bloke his own size.

Report the prick.

Don't be ridiculous.

Branleuse · 29/01/2026 19:55

Trip him up when you next see him. Carry one of those portable alarms too so you can deafen him when he's down

PlumDeNomNomNom · 29/01/2026 19:56

Loudly.

Yes but what would you actually say if, in your own example of standing in a Lidl queue you were barged hard? I know you’d say it “loudly” but beyond that?

Edited

I would go "Hey! Excuse me! That hurt! What do you think you're doing?" very loudly. My voice carries.

Do you think in some way that I shouldn't object to being shoulder barged?!
