Sorry, I know there must be other threads about this, but I’m lying in bed alone , feeling really terrified about what’s going on in the US right now and what it will lead to. I keep seeing videos saying that Trump’s administration is behaving as though they don’t have to worry about winning an election because they will just seize power. I also saw a couple suggesting that this is the start of civil war. I think it’s such a dark time for the world and I am genuinely worried for my 6 year old DD’s future.

But why so much concern about America when there is sufficient examples of authoritarian overreach by our own government and only this week further examples of how a police force made up evidence against Jews in order to appease Islamists threatening violence towards them?

Agree with the others that stopping looking online for news is the answer. I often find the comments sections are filled with bots which make you despair for humanity. I honestly don't think the internet will last very long if it continues this way. I have screen breaks for hours of the day and pick up a book now when I find myself scrolling. Knowing all the men causing issues in the world are roughly 80 is giving me a sense of perspective though...

I think we really need to accept the world order is starting to change and the three superpowers will be taking the countries they want and there’s really very little any of us can do about it.

I honestly couldn’t give a shiny shit about ICE, I’m not American and I don’t live there. I do REALLY care about this country though and would like a government who wasn’t happy to watch it slowly tank economically. I wish Labour pull just get some control of the bloody ship. They’ve u-turned on welfare, u-turned on I’d-cards and also now u-turning on business rates as they didn’t realise it was going to cause thousands/tens of thousands of businesses to cease trading. Why do they seem so bloody incompetent? It drives me mad.

You mean AI made it up. There is the issue. AI is only as good as the data going in. If that is anti women, anti Jew, anti brown skin because the data all going in says they are the problem that is what comes out. This is why the internet has become flawed, we've set rules on something and effectively told it the answer by confining what data goes in while pretending it has "intelligence"

They are arresting thousands of people for social media posts. Encouraging almost universal law breaking by the public sector in terms of the laws that protects women and girls. Stacking the Lords. Manipulating procedures in the Lords to prevent them killing the Chagos bill to give away our sovereignty at huge cost. Allowing antisemitism to developed unchecked through regular hate marches.
