But how was she obstructing them? The road is clear for cars to go around as shown in the videos, and she waves them to go around her first before pulling out herself

She is taking up one lane of the road. She is there to obstruct ICE, which is why her wife got out of the car to film it (I’m not sure we’ve seen footage from her though?)

If you obstruct armed law officers then don't follow instructions and behave erratically you may be perceived to be a threat. It's not new information is it?

God. I am out.

I suggest a straw for slurping up the bs in vances next ramble

Just because they are armed law officers , doesn't make them right.

The Nazis were armed law officers.

The man who raped and murdered Sarah Everard in London was an armed law officer.

The MET are armed law officers, and there are many many accounts of sexism racism and thuggery in the MET

A car drove round her. She was waving them by. Fuck me.

'before you inadvertently fall off the MAGA bandwagon and disprove of something that is actually fine and dandy in Trumpsville - I appreciate it can be hard to keep up.'

I'm not on his bandwagon, I'm not in the US I didn't vote for him?

RingoJuice · 09/01/2026 15:23

K0OLA1D · 09/01/2026 15:14

But she was following the 'get out of the way' instruction duck.. soooo

I’ve been asking for this video. The ones I saw they just tell her to get out of the car. Any links?

'People like you would defend any murder supported by Trump etc.... thats my point.

No, 'people like me' wouldn't defend any murder. That's a bit far fetched, no?

Ummm. Why is this conversation happening if you aren'tfailing trying to defend a murderer?

And the ICE vehicles? She was part of some anti-ICE response group. I linked to the story upthread

mbosnz · 09/01/2026 15:24

Something I read on FB, I don't know if it's true or not, perhaps an American could help? It said something along the lines of ICE agents not being actual officers of the law, and having no rights to arrest or detain US Citizens unless they have grounds to suspect they are harbouring illegal immigrants?

The penalty for obstruction shouldn't be death. Full stop.

It’s not true. They can do it if, like Good, they are blocking roads so that ICE can’t do their jobs. Obstruction basically.

What a very intelligent contribution. Well done you.

I'm watching Vance's speech; not only is he not actually saying anything meaningful, but he is not answering the questions asked.

e.g

reporter "Frey said X, what is your response?"
Vance: "Fraud, he committed fraud, blah blah blah, did I mention the fraud? And don't forget about the fraud."

reporter: "An American was killed. Do you think ICE needs more training to stop this from happening again?"
Vance: "Fake news! Bad actors! It was the democrats! Also, did I mention the fraud?"

C152 · 09/01/2026 15:27

RingoJuice · 09/01/2026 14:57

She didn't try to flee the scene - unlike the ICE agent(s). She started driving, at a snail's pace, out of the way of agents - as she was instructed to do

I think she was trying to flee the scene and wasn’t necessarily aiming to hit the guy (probably). But she had hit the gas and the wheels were spinning (lucky for the guy she didn’t move forward too fast, either because she’d been shot by then or the ice on the road prevented it)

Yes, I think it is reasonable to assume the agent who shot this woman 3 times in the face and killed her could have stepped out of the way, since (a) he stepped into the path of a moving vehicle to being with

The angle in the video above, he’s not in front of the SUV until she backs up. So she may not have been aware he was in front of her at that point.

he had no difficulty moving to the side of her car for the sole purpose of shooting her twice more in the head

He just got clipped!

You also keep trying to equate "emotions" with political belief or will. Whilst one can certainly drive the other, peaceful protests, including policitical prostests, are not illegal

It is actually illegal to obstruct federal agents carrying out their duties, which Americans and Congress democratically voted for. I would have preferred that she’d got out of the car and been arrested. Don’t you?

I have seen the NY Times breakdown of the video, and others, which do not support your stance.

Your final paragraph does not appear to be a response to my statement that you keep trying to equate emotions with political belief, so that they can be dismissed.

ICE are empowered to detain those who obstruct them carrying out official duties. They are not empowered to use excessive force. As I mentioned in an earlier post, even those who regularly defend officers involved in police shootings say they could not find a way to successfully defend this agent shooting an unarmed woman 3 times in the face.

As to what I would have preferred:

  • I would have preferred the US did not allow a tyrannical fascist dictator to be voted into such a position of power, or to remain in power.
  • I would have preferred the US did not allow the creation of an armed militia to attack its own people (or anyone else).
  • I would have preferred a member of this armed militia did not break the law by using excessive force.
  • I would have preferred it if the victim had received prompt medical attention.
  • I would have preferred it if ICE agents had not publicly congratulated themselves on the point blank murder of an innocent civiliant
  • I would have preferred it if ICE agents had not tampered with the crime scene or fled the scene
  • I would have preferred it if Trump did not make up lies to justify state sanctioned murder
  • I would have preferred the Justice Department didn't block state investigators from being involved in the investigation (for the laughable reason that Trump doesn't trust them to handle information legally and responsibly)

Get yourself on tiktok. Her arm is out the window waving them round. A car literally passes her.

If youre so fucking sure of yourself how have you not seen it?

Nothing she did justifies her being murdered.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 09/01/2026 15:30

This thread is deeply depressing but it does provide some very interesting insights into just how far people will go to deny the evidence that is right in front of them in order to try and rewrite the narrative in a way that makes it "fit" with their world view.

It's kind of shocking to see that kind of blatant twisting of reality in action, but I guess maybe the MAGA cheerleaders have to do that in order to maintain some sort of psychological safety. The cognitive dissonance would be unbearable if they couldn't find their own way of retelling the story, so they latch on to the lies that Vance and Trump are putting out there because those lies are infinitely more palatable than the reality that they would see right in front of them if only they dared to look.

1dayatatime · 09/01/2026 15:31

Frequency · 09/01/2026 13:21

@1dayatatime I think you're misinterpreting the intention/premeditation part. The intention to kill can come seconds before the act; it doesn't need to be a choice made hours or even minutes earlier in the day.

The question is, is it reasonable to believe that when the shooter unholstered his gun, aimed at Renee's head, and fired and then repositioned himself in order to fire two more rounds into her head, that his intention was to kill her?

I mean, do you really need someone to answer that?

Ok - then the question is, if he didn't believe that the vehicle coming towards him was a threat to his or his colleagues lives, and if it was as you say premeditated murder then what was his motivation for shooting her?

Did you see the video I posted earlier? Do you know which videos the NYT examined before they went to print?

She clipped him. She’d likely have run him over (probably accidentally) if the ice on the road hadn’t been there. At least that’s what I think watching that angle.
