Feel a bit mean, but so excited for tomorrow

Dh back to work
Dc back to school

I am the type who normally feels sad holidays are over and kids are back and so on, but this holiday hasn’t been great and I cannot wait for 9 am tomorrow.
I intend to stop at the shop for treats and spend until pick up watching Netflix shows…blissfully alone! (aside from the dogs-who are no trouble)

If you’re mean then so am I, because me too!

Dreamingpeanuts · 04/01/2026 18:06

Sounds lovely! I hope you have a great time!

(am very jealous of your lifestyle. Am dreading the return to work)

SqishySqashmas · 04/01/2026 18:06

OP do you not realise that a large majority of people reading this will in fact be going back to work having had very little break at all.

NannyOgg1341 · 04/01/2026 18:08

Don't feel mean- I'm back in work tomorrow and I'm a bit excited to have a coffee in the office in peace 😂

tillyandmilly · 04/01/2026 18:09

Enjoy the peace!

Cupcakegirl13 · 04/01/2026 18:10

Ignore the naysayers you have every right to be excited - simple pleasures are the best , people should be able to be happy for others.

HeadFairy · 04/01/2026 18:10

Yabu becase I’m going back to work tomorrow - waaaaah!

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 04/01/2026 18:11

Ours aren’t back until Tuesday but looking forward to the routine returning then!

Talltreesbythelake · 04/01/2026 18:12

I am actually looking forward to getting back to school tomorrow to see the children and hear all their Christmas news. Have a peaceful day, you've earned it.

MyQuirkyFinch · 04/01/2026 18:12

Kids back tomorrow, me back to work. Have had a great Christmas but full on and looking forward to the return to normality!

Playingvideogames · 04/01/2026 18:12

It’s inset day but DH has DD and DS is at nursery.

I really enjoyed the holidays until about 3 days ago, my 2 are fighting absolutely relentlessly and the endless screams and crashes the moment my back is turned is really making me see red now. They both need some space from each other and to go back to their settings.

I’ll be working but home alone… bliss

BobblyBobbleHat · 04/01/2026 18:12

Glad you will have a lovely day, I miss dd so much when we all go back, it just seems like I get to spend so little time with her since she started school.

1 is far easier than 2, I felt the same before DS came along!

Exactly.
I worked all last week apart from NY day.

TidyCyan · 04/01/2026 18:14

I went back to work on Friday. DH worked from home with DS in the house. I quite enjoyed the change of scenery to be honest!

chunkychoos · 04/01/2026 18:15

Enjoy it!

Ignore the 'butwhatabouters'

You don’t know when I’ve worked or when I work??

What does that have to do with the OP?

She's allowed to be excited about it regardless of other people's life circumstances 🤷‍♂️

So what? The OP should be miserable as well?

Dollyfloss · 04/01/2026 18:18

I’m feeling a bit sad, dd will go back to uni tomorrow and the others to school. I’ve loved having them off and we’ve had a lovely Christmas. It’s great to get back into a routine (we’ve all been sleeping til 10/11am!) but I do always get a bit of a maudlin feeling taking down the decs and ironing the dcs uniforms.

Planning an exciting trip for Easter to give me something to look forward to.

mrschocolatte · 04/01/2026 18:18

@SqishySqashmas Ah come on now. OP means no harm. She’s not hurting anyone so give her a break!

ReadySaltedSquares · 04/01/2026 18:19

Ooh OP enjoy! I love that first day of peace when everyone is out but me!

Selfishly, DH has been wfh for the last year so it’s not quite the same, but I’m very excited for Tuesday when the teens are back to school/college and DH is back to work.

I will be having a lie in, a leisurely breakfast with two episodes of Eastenders, a run and pottering.

Oh and for the grumpy sods, I work in retail and have worked over the period, but Tuesday is my first day off alone, hope that’s ok to enjoy?

mynameiscalypso · 04/01/2026 18:21

DS has an inset day tomorrow and then DH is working from home on Wednesday as we have some deliveries coming but I am so excited about Wednesday when he’s back in the office. I left my job just before Christmas and don’t have one lined up yet so for the first time in 20 years, I don’t have to go back to work in Jan (other than the year I was on mat leave). I’m going to luxuriate in the solitude.

omggggggg · 04/01/2026 18:21

Looking forward to going back to work, kids at school etc. I might book a couple of days off to myself soon.

So what?! People start threads on children, parents, holidays, buying houses all of which not everyone experiences.

Agree OP, bring tomorrow on!
