Feel a bit mean, but so excited for tomorrow

Dh back to work
Dc back to school

I am the type who normally feels sad holidays are over and kids are back and so on, but this holiday hasn’t been great and I cannot wait for 9 am tomorrow.
I intend to stop at the shop for treats and spend until pick up watching Netflix shows…blissfully alone! (aside from the dogs-who are no trouble)

Well work on it. It's an unpleasant personality trait

oh dear god!

DuchessofStaffordshire · 04/01/2026 19:01

It'll be marvellous although DH works from home so his presence will still be felt which is a bit of a bummer. I shall take the dog out for a nice run along the canal and do some food prep for the week whilst listening to a podcast. I'll most likely have a cryptic crossword on the go (slowly) and might make time for a curl up on the sofa with a good book. Currently reading Say Nothing after watching the excellent series on C4.

Just amazed you have no Christmas snacks left. But I think I over buy.

Came to say this! Still so much cheese and chocolate to get through 😋

ThatJadeLion · 04/01/2026 19:03

Get your feet up and enjoy!!!

Zippidydoodah · 04/01/2026 19:03

I’m dreading it because:

Trying to get my son to do his homework.
Trying to get the teens out of the house in time.
Bloody school run for the youngest.
Stress stress stress
Juggling work while dealing with all of the above.

its my fucking fault for having four kids but I’m allowed to be a bit grumpy about the return to routine in the darkest, coldest and most miserable part of the year.

Just ignore me if I offend you.

Greendiamondbee · 04/01/2026 19:04

I've one more WFH day before going back to hybrid and I cannot bloody wait to be out of the house and by myself for the commute.

crazeekat · 04/01/2026 19:05

Achhhh soz just click yabu by accident!! Soz

redrose115 · 04/01/2026 19:06

I think alone time sounds wonderful, OP. I’ll be alone and WFH mid-week. I will be in the office first part of the week.

Even though I’m WFH later this week, it will be the first time I’ll have the place to myself for over 4 weeks. DH in office and DC at childcare. I’ve already planned a nice quiet lunch for myself.

Edited: Typo!

Oh get over yourself.
Lots of people in the same boat.
None of this is the ops fault.
Ignore her post if it offends you.

It's DD's birthday tomorrow so we are trying to keep the party going while all feeling a bit tired! She has a day off work, I am freelance so won't be looking at my work until Tuesday, so one last hurrah tomorrow before the decorations come down. I do dread this time of year as we own ponies and the bad weather always tends to hit in February so this feels like the calm before the storm. Enjoy your day, OP!

OP do you not realise that a large majority of people reading this will in fact be going back to work having had very little break at all.

I’m one of these, only 2 days off BUT I say fair bloody play to OP!! Enjoy every second lovely and do not feel guilty in the slightest! X

i am one of those people and yes i am jealous of OP!
but nothing wrong with them posting this, we don’t have to read and interact with it if we don’t want to :) there’s always people in different circumstances who’s days/work patterns are different. this is like saying people can’t say “thank goodness it’s the weekend” because some people work them?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 04/01/2026 19:10

God I’m devastated

reception child and nursery baby here - we’ve had the most wonderful 2 weeks together - out every day for big walks and been to all the farms and out for lovely picnics and hot chocolates every day (lucky me he weather been so beautiful - freezing! But we are wrapped up warm

lazy evenings watching films!

my husband said he feels like he proper got to know our 18 month old as he is in work so much and spends such little time with him in the evenings after work!

let the kids stay up a little later than usual and we’ve ended up all sleeping in until 8am everyday - no idea how we will all get up at 7 tomorrow and out the door at 8 🤣🤣

it’s honestly been amazing (husband and I took loads of turns to go off and have days too ourselves as well - proper good balance of family and solo time I felt

I'll be pleased too because people won't have to bring their feral, noisy, and rude children to their vet's appointment.

YES to this. No more children swinging off my consult table and wheeling around on my chair!!

It's getting more and more ridiculous.
Nearly too ridiculous to be true.
Almost like HQ post things like this on purpose to keep us frothing and posting.

I bet she probably does realise this. Everyone's circumstances are different & she's talking about hers in particular.
I'm looking forward tomorrow too. Dh back to work & I'll have the house to myself to clean & potter about.
The best bit is I retired early from my job before Xmas. I'd put up with being spoke to like muck & low level bullying for the last 5 years. I'll be snuggling under the duvet tomorrow morning, at the time I would normally have got to work. I can imagine my ex boss getting in early tomorrow morning, after sitting in heavy traffic, scowling, snapping & under pressure as it's month end. Bliss 🤣

Yes, those of us not working tomorrow should all resort to self flagellation to a soundtrack of Leonard Cohen.

SauronsArsehole · 04/01/2026 19:16

Nope. I have to go back to work. I’ve been sick all holiday (10th until a few days ago) flu then a nasty sinus infection and massively inflamed vocal cords and swollen neck for a good two weeks. I was in bed for days at a time. Xmas didn’t happen. Didn’t even have the strength to put up the xmas tree or cook Xmas dinner. In fact we had a sort of roast today to make up for it. I’ve only just gotten my voice to its normal pitch.

next bout of illness idngaf i am taking it off sick even if i feel well enough to work.

I don’t get to choose my holidays and this is the 3rd Xmas in a row ive been really unwell and ive only been in this job 3yrs.

fatphalange · 04/01/2026 19:17

Same here, OP, woo hoo! Slightly sad that the tee will be coming down, though. But that’s mainly because I can’t really be arsed to do it Grin

usedtobeaylis · 04/01/2026 19:18

Enjoy! This isn't me this time, this time I've had a lovely break doing fuck all for once, and I've had some lovely long lies with my daughter. I'm always genuinely sad to be apart from her, especially now that she's a bit older. I feel a bit like I'm missing something for a couple of days. Although it's not the endless snack requests 😅
