I don't know if my mum rage is out of control but I went to Asda pizza counter and they were closing so I was told as soon as I joined the queue of 2 people that they were shut. They don't display time and the lights were on, so I was a bit annoyed.

I went to look at the premade pizzas, very annoyed but I didn't say anything to the lady. She then asked how many pizzas I wanted, I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter.

Aibu - either shut and be shut, or serve people?

Dontdisrepectme · 03/01/2026 20:06

My friend has to work on one of these counters. They shut the same time every week.

There is always a chancer who tries it on as it's closing. Sounds like it was you this week.

Do you know how many people they deal with day on and day out being rude to them and having a fit when they try and order as they are closing.

Get a grip and order a takeway pizza.

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:18

They are on the shelves in front.... What's your problem.

Why are you such an angry person OP?

Balloonhearts · 03/01/2026 20:08

You were extremely rude to someone who asked you a simple question. She was probably about to offer to squeeze a last order in despite being already closed. I've done that for people who looked visibly disappointed, stayed late to just do them a quick one, if it's a simple order. That or she was going to offer you some reduced ones.

She probably thought 'fuck you then, I shan't bother' after that comment.

Livelovebehappy · 03/01/2026 20:09

And this is why people working in retail often look miserable. Because they have to deal with obnoxious customers. And all for minimum wage. I’d rather chew my arm off than have to deal with the public day in day out. It must be absolutely soul destroying….

NormasArse · 03/01/2026 20:09

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:03

Of course people are going to be disappointed if they can't get a pizza.... So why should it matter either way. You are either shut or not.

You keep saying that.

But she obviously saw you were disappointed and tried to help… despite the fact that it would’ve set back her cleaning and whatever.

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · 03/01/2026 20:10

It's a shame mumsnet wasn't shut when you came here to post this

StephensLass1977 · 03/01/2026 20:10

I would genuinely love to understand what "mum rage" is. Never heard of this. Is it where because you have a child you think you're entitled to lose your rag at anyone you like? I think I might have come across people like you before. I hope you don't shop there often and have to see her again. For her sake.

FastFood · 03/01/2026 20:11

What pizza did you finally take OP, and more crucially: was it sliced?

CharlieEffie · 03/01/2026 20:12

Why bother posting AIBU if your just going to disagree with everyone who confirms that you WERE infact bring unreasonable

catpigeon · 03/01/2026 20:12

Jesus

MyNavyPoet · 03/01/2026 20:14

I may be one of few who agree with you on this one - she was either shut or she wasn’t. I’d have been annoyed too. It’s not like you threw one in her face, you just decided not to divulge what your order would have been because she wasn’t open to receive that order anyway so what did it matter.

Eyeshadow · 03/01/2026 20:15

Gofaster2023 · 03/01/2026 20:06

I went to get the bus the other day and my card didnt work and the driver let me on anyway. I was fucking raging. It's either £2.20 or it's not... You are utterly ridiculous OP.

What an utter bastard!!

Did you get the mum rage too?

I’m surprised you didn’t make a thread about him because he is obviously such a huge twat for doing you a kind favour.

TY78910 · 03/01/2026 20:16

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:17

So why tell me she was shut?

How is that not a bitch thing to do?

So you prefer she let you queue up, then get to you and say she’s shut? It isn’t rude or bitchy to tell you she’s at capacity like you’re maintaining through this thread, it’s called managing customer expectations.

She finished doing the pizzas in front of you, either felt she wanted to do a nice thing for you and stay a little longer on her station, or realised the customers in front didn’t take as long as anticipated and asked you if you had a quick order. This woman was probably at the end of her 9h shift. Don’t be a dick.

If I was to use a scenario to describe the meaning of a certain misogynistic term disguised by a name, it would be this one.

Garroty · 03/01/2026 20:16

You sound like an extraordinarily difficult woman.

MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend · 03/01/2026 20:16

She probably saw the look on your face and thought you might be waiting outside the shop with a machete so she thought she ought to offer you the pizzas after all.

Whizzingwhippet · 03/01/2026 19:07

Everyone thinks you were...

Or stupid

RamALamADingDong2 · 03/01/2026 20:17

What a weird thread. Vast majority of people saying YABVU, but you're in a mood and just want to have a tiff with everyone! Go hit a pillow or something, your anger and frustration need a better outlet. (And whatever the real issue in your life is, for god's sake, fix it).

HTH

Of course people are going to be disappointed if they can't get a pizza.... So why should it matter either way. You are either shut or not.

This is not how life works...watch any film for the last century when a customer hammers on a door and shop staff relent or a million other situations where people use their discretion...you just nudged that poor lady not to extend kindness (in the future) because you were just rude
Wow just wow

It's the post-birth equivalent to pregnancy hormones as an excuse for obnoxiousness

LucyMonth · 03/01/2026 20:19

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:16

But everyone would be disappointed.... So what did she expect

No actually OP. Most normal, rational human beings would not be this disappointed over an ASDA pizza. They really, really wouldn’t. This is a genuinely unhinged reaction to this situation.

What’s ‘mum rage’? Is that better or worse than regular rage?

Hesma · 03/01/2026 20:20

Wind your neck in b*atch… you are unbelievably rude!

Gowlett · 03/01/2026 20:21

santasbaubles · 03/01/2026 19:02

There’s no such thing as “mum rage”, you were just rude.

You clearly haven’t seen those Janet videos! So funny!
