Why was Adam Peatys mum disinvited from the wedding?

I can’t see anything that gives a clear reason.

bit stupid not to provide cloaks for the wedding party
and how awful not to invite the mum to the hen, bride's mum was invited
and according to the Sun the dad was told he had to sit at the back.
not sure how close adam was to his dad as it is All about his Mum

No way did MIL need to be invited to the hen. I’ve never been to a hen with a MIL and only a couple with mothers if they were very close. It’s usually friends and siblings.

And really complaining about it to the papers has no class whatsoever.

"Think a lot of it stems from her probably preferring the ex girlfriend who baby trapped him as soon as she could and even though he tried his best, it didn’t last."

Yes he was forced to have sex and not use contraception.

I just want to know why it's the main top story on every online newspaper. Who cares about the ins and outs of the family of barely known celebs... One is literally the daughter of a TV chef!! Why should I care? Everyone's families are weird/complicated in some way. I don't know why she wasn't invited because I don't care enough to actually click on the news story!

You’re commentating on it though?

EleanorReally · 29/12/2025 08:29

but her own mother was invited, so it is polite to invite future mil surely?

Can we not just say 'a plague on all their houses'? No-one's behaviour has been great. Adam's mum and her sister sound like total attention-seeking nightmares and Gordon Ramsay is a loud-mouthed bully.

It does have massive 'Thomas Markle' vibes and I'm sure that the Daily Mail have been waving their cheque book in Adam's mum's direction. This is right up their alley.

If none of them were famous, I can just imagine the post that the bride would have posted on Mumsnet titled 'my MIL-to-be is an over-stepping nightmare and wants to wear white to my wedding'.

Not if she kicked off at the engagement. She presumably wanted her mum there and people who supported her, not her mil who has been running to the press, wanted to wear white to her wedding and prefers her partners ex to her.

You could say that but I actually think Peaty’s family has behaved worse and got themselves disinvited by their own.

To attack and humiliate their son in the media shortly before his wedding is a toxic thing to do. Then playing the victim when they’re the ones who kicked off in the press is hypocritical.

TheChicDreamer · 29/12/2025 08:49

Like the Beckhams and the Peltzes, the Windsors and the Markles, and in fact many in the public eye, they both sound like pretty horrible, toxic families!

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/12/2025 08:50

His mother and aunt have been stupid running to the press. I am sure they are enjoying what’s been reported so far.

As anyone with an ounce of intelligence realises, the press will build you up and when that becomes boring, will have more than enough to hand your arse to you on a silver platter. Give it time and they’ll make mincemeat of the Peaty’s.

NetZeroZealot · 29/12/2025 09:13

The Peaty extended family have not played their hand well but if press reports about Gordon’s wedding speech are accurate that is unforgivable.

i agree with the PP who quoted Shakespeare “A plague on both your houses.”

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/12/2025 12:17

It’s about time somebody advised her to keep quiet.

I agree . It’s like Markle 2

I don't know but Peaty splitting with his partner and the mother of his child to marry into celebrity life leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

Oh did he cheat ??!

WimbyAce · 29/12/2025 13:25

Apparently he's now changed his name to Ramsey Peaty, ouch!

Dollymylove · 29/12/2025 14:43

She was rude to Gordon
Off with her head!!!

I think it is less to do with her being rude to him, and more to do with her causing conflict and a scene at their children’s engagement party when everyone else is trying to celebrate and have a good time.

bombastix · 29/12/2025 14:59

The mother seems to have been extremely stupid in allowing the press into what should have been a private matter. Someone should have stopped it earlier but clearly now it is too late. Instead of a mild disagreement about an invite it’s a literal chasm being worked by the Daily Mail - who are enjoying every second and also writing about her in seemingly sympathetic but also subtly derogatory tone.

Sartre · 29/12/2025 15:02

Having read way too much into this (more than I’d have liked to!) I think classism has played a substantial part. His family look like a lot of average working class families and wouldn’t fit the ‘aesthetic’. His mother wanted to wear a certain dress to the wedding but it had to be approved by the bridezilla and she didn’t like it. I heard they demanded she wear one she couldn’t afford to buy and they wouldn’t cover it, but obviously it’s all hearsay. Some of his relatives also said they couldn’t actually afford to attend because lots of it was held in fancy rural country manors hundreds of miles from where Adam is from.

The Ramsays think they’re something they’re really not, probably because of the connection with the Beckhams. His eldest daughter went to uni, adult son is in the navy and youngest of the adult children was on TV for a while but has also recently been to uni. From what I can gather, Holly has done fuck all. No degree, no career, no TV appearances even. I don’t really know what she does.

Whosthetabbynow · 29/12/2025 15:04

Didn’t the Ramsays and dear little Adam decide his mum wasn’t posh enough?

Sartre · 29/12/2025 15:06

theActualreasons · 29/12/2025 12:33

Nobody ever confirmed but suspect so from
the statement he put out following the split. He said something about letting her down.

Also, to PP who suggested he had been single for a long time before meeting Holly- it was less than a year.

This X a million.
Family disputes are very rarely cut and dried with there usually being two sides and then the truth somewhere in the middle.
I think both sides see themselves as being both wronged and righteous (and perhaps to some degree they both have been) but neither side has shown themselves admirably IMO. Gordon's wedding speech is plain nasty and APs mum and brother standing dressed up outside the church is petty and weird.

The only person I have sympathy for is little George, who is the pics I saw looked totally overwhelmed and miserable by all the crowds, photographers and security guards.

Agreed. He lives in rural Wales with his mum and by all accounts has a quiet life. It must be terrifying to be dragged out into loud crowds like that with cameras flashing in your face as a tiny five year old. I’m sure they could have protected him better from that.

This is ludicrous. Ramsay himself is from a working class background.

Peaty’s own mother summarised the issues herself in an interview to the DM. Far from saying she was ‘too common’ or ‘too fat’ as was claimed in the media, by her own account she:

  • Wanted to wear a cream/white outfit with navy accessories to the wedding, when requested to choose another outfit at the couples’ expense she hit back
  • Wanted to be invited to the hen, despite not being especially close to Holly
  • Wanted other family members to be invited to the engagement party the Ramsays threw for the couple.

If you’re nfi to something you don’t kick off in the media, and you certainly don’t demand that more distant family members are invited to a party you’re not the host of. She was absolutely free to organise her own engagement party with all their family and friends if she wanted.

Ending up disinvited to the wedding seems to be entirely down to her own actions.
