Why was Adam Peatys mum disinvited from the wedding?

I can’t see anything that gives a clear reason.

I would imagine that his mum isn't invited because she posted very publicly about not being invited to the hen do, I assume with the aim of embarrassing the bride-to-be.

It might also be because his mum doesn't look very A-list or Instagrammable.

If she (mum) and her sister weren’t bleating to the Daily Mail regularly I may have some more sympathy. This “toxic text” the aunt apparently sent before the wedding yesterday was obviously leaked by them as if Adam wouldn’t have them blocked by now.

The wedding is done now so the cash cow is going to run out soon.

Think a lot of it stems from her probably preferring the ex girlfriend who baby trapped him as soon as she could and even though he tried his best, it didn’t last.

'Baby trapped him'? You sound quite the misogynist. He could/should have used contraception if he didn't want a baby.

I'm not sure why you are slagging off his ex-partner when she isn't involved in the wedding shit-show at all.

WimbyAce · 29/12/2025 07:33

I have been vaguely following the story and it has been rumbling on a while. Rumours that the parents aren't "celebrity" enough although of course much must have happened behind the scenes to cause such a big fall out. His sister was bridesmaid though. Sad though after all his parents did for him for his swimming career.

HelenaWaiting · 29/12/2025 00:01

No, he didn't. There's been quite a gap between splitting with his ex-partner and his current relationship. Is he supposed to stay single forever, or just until he meets someone you approve of?

There were rumours that he cheated while on Strictly so I don't believe he is squeaky clean. Be interesting to see if this relationship lasts. I do think he is enjoying his new "celebrity" status.

Hey, I think there's a thread about broccoli in the cooking section, where you could go and post that you don't care about broccoli?

🤣

I wish people wouldn’t speculate on these things. I have no idea what’s going on in this particular situation but dh is completely non contact with his whole family and the amount of people that judge him for it, without knowing the whole story, is ridiculous. Everyone thinks the sun shines out of his mums arse when in reality she laughed in his face when he went to her after a serious sexual assault. However, he would never disclose that to anyone in real life unless he was very close to them (and obviously it’s anonymous here) so everyone thinks he’s awful and feel sorry for his “poor Mum”. You just never know what’s happening behind closed doors.

You can’t stop people speculating, talking, thinking…

And she confronted Gordon Ramsay about it at the party and made a bit of a scene.

Please god, he called her an idiot sandwich and used the buns again

My understanding is, his mum wasn’t invited on the hen do…which I personally think is fair enough. But she (and her sister, and other members of the family) really took umbrage to it and started posting loads of tweets and things about it, making a bit of a public show of themselves. Cue a big family fallout.

And something about clothes no? Mum wanted to wear beige, Holly asked her not to, they offered to pay for a different outfit but mum didn’t show up to a shopping trip. Something like that.

Wasn’t that because of his brother? Something about he wasn’t invited to the stag do?

vaccinationnation · 29/12/2025 07:43

Totally not the point of the thread, but BBC showed a video of them exiting the Abbey and into a car: there was someone behind the bride (helping her in the car) wearing what looked like a parka with a fluffy trim around the hood. Did anyone else see it? Yet the poor bridesmaids looked freezing in their dresses.

Totally not the point, I realise but for a bored hour yesterday I went down a rabbit hole of how to keep bridesmaids and guests warm during winter weddings.

Peach0rca · 29/12/2025 07:44

I read online that she was rude to Gordon at the engagement party and made a bit of a scene. This is what led to her not being invited to the hen party and all the drama since then.

whether she felt she had a good reason to be upset at the engagement party confronting the host in the middle of the party in front of everyone is never the right thing to do and she should have addressed her issues privately with Holly and Adam.

It’s so embarrassing she kept doubling down on her behaviour and she really can’t be shocked she was uninvited from the wedding in the end.

EleanorReally · 29/12/2025 07:45

why are police involved though?

Brother threatened not to let Adam go on his stag do or something like that. Think only the brother was arrested and questioned.

Yes thats what I thought. There were issues with the partner when he was on Strictly iirc. His mum made some kind of fuss then too and went to the papers.

NetZeroZealot · 29/12/2025 08:02

I had not heard about this delightful family until I noticed the wedding pics online as im
local & partial to a bit of Beckham. I’ve been enjoying all the gossipy details ever since due to Christmas news vacuum!

I'm so sorry about what happened to your husband and how his mum has reacted.

It's still a bit of a reach to assume that something similarly awful has happened to Adam Peaty and that his mum was either to blame or just didn't care.

This is is the problem, it's clearly not a stretch that his mum/family crossed his boundaries to the extent they weren't invited to the wedding. It doesn't have to be the exact same scenario to justify his choices.

My DH is no contact with his mum DH made the decision after his mum repeatedly cut him and our child out of her life for months when she took offense to anything DH disagreed with her on, like DC should be potty trained at 9 months, adding salt to her food at 6 months, blaming the fact my child wasn't walking by 12 months on me and much more.

There is not one incident as bad as the poster you responded to but it was enough for DH to realise he didn't want his child to be added to a toxic and bullying dynamic. So he put his boundaries in place and the family basically said 'no you have to accept this is the way mum and we are and put up with it or you're out' so DH opted out. But of course the rest of the family and neighbors have an edited, one sided version of events and she is 'the poor grandma who has been cut off by his sons manipulative partner.'

In my experience it takes a lot for a person to actually walk away from their family, I only know one person in that position. So I don't think it's a reach to assume his mother did something her son found incredibly hurtful.

The DM love a family estrangement story. They are using their lucrative Thomas Markle playbook on Adam Peatys mum. They dont have a big enough cheque book to do it to one of the Beckhams, but Mrs Peaty and Thomas Markle aren't doing DM sadfaces for free. They are selling stories about their children. Encouraged by a pretty disreputable publication.

TheaBrandt1 · 29/12/2025 08:10

The masses love it because we can think well I may not be wealthy successful beautiful with a snatched waist at 50 or getting married in an abbey but at least I’ve not fallen out with my mum/son/father delete as applicable.

I agree, they all must have been freezing, especially Tana, who was sleeveless! Maybe bridesmaids had very thin silk thermals underneath? I'm a very cold mortal and must admit this has been my main thought about the wedding.

I think some women can't deal with their partners mum. I'm sure I will get slated for this, but I see it all the time on MN.

The MIL is always the demon, they can't bear the fact that their partner has another woman that is important in their life. It is encouraged by other women and on sites like this.

See also Brooklyn Beckham.

No slating here, I agree! Not all women of course, but a fair few.
it's also weird how, as in the case of Brooklyn Beckham, when a man loses touch with his family and becomes enmeshed with his wife's, it must be because he can't be arsed keeping in touch with his own family, or it's his mum's fault. Yet on another thread on here yesterday where it was the daughter not keeping in touch, everyone was worried about her being in an abusive relationship. It does happen to men too!

Yes I don’t understand why the bridesmaids and mob didn’t all have cloaks - they looked freezing.

With the caveat that I had not heard of AP before his mum kicked off, and I couldn’t name any of GR’s kids:

By his mum’s own interview with the DM she said the issues were that she wasn’t invited to the hen; that she wanted to wear cream/white to the wedding with navy accessories and was asked to wear another colour, paid for by the couple; the Ramsays threw an engagement party for the couple to which some of the more distant family members were not invited; and that she felt her son was close to the Ramsay family and she was losing him.

She’s definitely lost him now.

Edited

I don’t understand why mum got upset about being asked to wear a different dress and not going to the hen do. These are fine. I wouldn’t expect to go to my daughter in laws hen do and I certainly would want to wear a dress which was suitable in the eyes of the happy couple. Not having the aunt at the engagement party I understand too, having seen the aunts poor behaviour since. I wonder what the aunt was like during APs childhood. Same goes for the aggressive brother. However I also fully expect the Ramseys are a nightmare too, just in a different way.
