I can’t see anything that gives a clear reason.

Calling a woman Karen is so misogynistic

Making a comment like that deserves my response.

Don't be a Karen. It's lazy.

Bless. One day you will understand that you're being misogynistic.

Don't do "Karen". Did you not realise? It's a horribly misogynistic trope.

That comment deserved that response.

I know that. But it still doesn't alter the fact he left his partner and child for showbiz glitz.

No, he didn't. There's been quite a gap between splitting with his ex-partner and his current relationship. Is he supposed to stay single forever, or just until he meets someone you approve of?

GrimDamnFanjo · 29/12/2025 00:25

I think there’s a bit of classism going on here too. Peaty has a working class background and the media is ful of pointed remarks about the family not measuring up to the Ramseys, the family not photogenic enough etc.
who knows what the truth actually is?

I do think it was sad she wasn't there at the wedding. Maybe the couple need to organise a similar party to their wedding event and make sure his Mum is the honoured guest.

Dear god please tell me you’re joking

Hey, I think there's a thread about broccoli in the cooking section, where you could go and post that you don't care about broccoli?

Did the broccoli go to the wedding? It may have blended in ......Victoria Beckham and Tanya Ramsey both wore green

Or carrots perhaps

So it was about her going to the press and writing stuff on social media?

I think it started at the engagement party where she, the mother, allegedly, asked Gordon Ramsay why her sisters hadn’t been invited…I believe that led to her not being invited to the hen party, her sister then kicked off in her defense, which, subsequently led to her being disinvited to the wedding!

Greyrock2828 · 29/12/2025 04:11

Maybe his family are a nightmare and he didn't want them to embarrass him - they've literally been in the papers at every opportunity with something to say, doing things to attract the attention of media, his aunt speaking to press - imagine if they'd gone to the wedding - they would have sold their story to the papers.
My DH family are a nightmare - i wouldn't invite my MIL to my hen party as she's horrible after a drink and has a drink problem.

Dollymylove · 29/12/2025 06:20

HR wasnt happy with the dress Mrs Peaty had chosen for the wedding and asked her to .meet so HR could choose something more suitable. On the day the railways were disrupted because of the Peterborough stabbing incident so the Peatys couldn't make it. HR was displeased with this, among other things and so supposedly had a diva strop and disinvited the Peatys to the wedding.
I think they dodged a bullet tbh and thoughts and prayers to Adam who would probably just like to give his mum a big hug but isnt allowed to now hes under the Ramsay jack boot 🤣

Splendidlydidy · 29/12/2025 06:22

Whilst I wish the happy couple well, I absolutely cannot see it lasting.

I wish people wouldn’t speculate on these things. I have no idea what’s going on in this particular situation but dh is completely non contact with his whole family and the amount of people that judge him for it, without knowing the whole story, is ridiculous. Everyone thinks the sun shines out of his mums arse when in reality she laughed in his face when he went to her after a serious sexual assault. However, he would never disclose that to anyone in real life unless he was very close to them (and obviously it’s anonymous here) so everyone thinks he’s awful and feel sorry for his “poor Mum”. You just never know what’s happening behind closed doors.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your husband and how his mum has reacted.

It's still a bit of a reach to assume that something similarly awful has happened to Adam Peaty and that his mum was either to blame or just didn't care.

TeenToTwenties · 29/12/2025 06:34

I think it is sad. People don't tend to become Olympic swimmers without their parents being massively in their corner, getting them to 6am training etc etc for years.

Thortour · 29/12/2025 06:38

Reading what Gordon Ramsay said in his speech it sounds a lot like his mum didn’t fit the aesthetic. Too fat and common.
Obviously they should have kept quiet but the Ramsay family were always going to get their way.

bumptybum · 29/12/2025 06:41

BlackCat14 · 28/12/2025 21:28

My understanding is, his mum wasn’t invited on the hen do…which I personally think is fair enough. But she (and her sister, and other members of the family) really took umbrage to it and started posting loads of tweets and things about it, making a bit of a public show of themselves. Cue a big family fallout.

If it was just the hen do then I think she was upset because literally everyone and their buddy across all generations were invited just not her.

In my own experience, the parents of top athletes - particularly swimmers - are often a nightmare. As much as Peaty leaves a sour taste in my mouth, I can completely see how his mother may be toxic, and why his brothers hold resentment.

We always hear “oh she’s so devoted, driving her son to swimming six mornings a week at 4am and waiting in her car for three hours every day so he can pursue his dream”. But does this come from a place of selflessness and altruism? Somehow I doubt it.

And his siblings see this and realise that he’s the golden child and the home life completely revolves around the Star Athlete whilst they have to muddle along to get by on their own terms. Of course that’s going to breed resentment.

You make me think of similarities to theatre mums. Makes total sense.

They may be a bit embarrassing but that’s not a good enough reason to not invite then to their son’s wedding. The same son who has sung his mum’s praises for a decade. The mum for whom without he would be a nobody and he has acknowledged this in the past.
being a bit common and gauche is not a reason to not invite your own mother to your wedding

I’m shocked as the Ramsey’s are very close to the Beckham’s and the whole Beckham crew were invited. I would have thought that as the Beckham’s are experiencing exactly the same estrangement with their own son arising around their wedding and new glossier bride family that the whole lot of them would not be doing this

ruffler45 · 29/12/2025 06:47

Made me wonder why there was the huge amount of security guys. What were they expecting ?

Pennyfan · 29/12/2025 06:51

Did GR really make a comment about his wife’s looks and then say leeringly to his son in law-‘That’s what you’ve got to look forward to?’ What a creep.

Luckystar67 · 28/12/2025 22:28

If she (mum) and her sister weren’t bleating to the Daily Mail regularly I may have some more sympathy. This “toxic text” the aunt apparently sent before the wedding yesterday was obviously leaked by them as if Adam wouldn’t have them blocked by now.

The wedding is done now so the cash cow is going to run out soon.

Think a lot of it stems from her probably preferring the ex girlfriend who baby trapped him as soon as she could and even though he tried his best, it didn’t last.

He cheated on the ex multiple times, even kissing his strictly pro on live tv

MrsDoubtingMyself · 29/12/2025 07:09

SALaw · 28/12/2025 22:20

She always seemed like she had the potential to embarrass him. She was all over social media when he left Strictly claiming it was a fix and calling out other celebs she thought deserved to go before him. That might be ok for obsessive fans but the celeb and their families are meant to have a bit of dignity about it and also support their fellow contestants.

Omg! I remember this now. Jeez....she's an emotional car crash. I remember thinking (after the Strictly fiasco) fuck ......imagine having a Mum like that.

🙄😬

LancashireButterPie · 29/12/2025 07:12

All a big set up IMO, so that they can create a bit of interest in their nuptials and justify selling their story.
Her wrapped in a cloak to protect the big "hello reveal"was just hilarious! No one's looking at your dress love.

Aluna · 29/12/2025 07:13

With the caveat that I had not heard of AP before his mum kicked off, and I couldn’t name any of GR’s kids:

By his mum’s own interview with the DM she said the issues were that she wasn’t invited to the hen; that she wanted to wear cream/white to the wedding with navy accessories and was asked to wear another colour, paid for by the couple; the Ramsays threw an engagement party for the couple to which some of the more distant family members were not invited; and that she felt her son was close to the Ramsay family and she was losing him.

She’s definitely lost him now.
