To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

On a serious note @EasternStandard these new reaction emojis don't give much choice to reflect your reaction x

Starmer actions would be the same for any British citizen.

Lindsay and Craig Foreman certainly don't seem to be his "top priority" so I wouldn't say that was true.

Who was Starmer crowing to?

A vital Labour Party donor?

They are getting consular support but Iran is a very difficult country to do business with. Their case begs the question how much can the UK government do to help idiots who find themselves in trouble abroad entirely due to their own foolish actions.

FCDO advises against all travel to Iran

FCDO advises against all travel to Iran. If you are a British national already in Iran, either resident or visitor, carefully consider your presence there and the risks you take by staying.

British and British-Iranian dual nationals are at significant risk of arrest, questioning or detention. Having a British passport or connections to the UK can be reason enough for the Iranian authorities to detain you.

Still, should be top priority though eh? As that's the norm apparently.

I’m afraid I totally agree on this one. Who did they think they were. You can take a horse to water etc.

But that's the precedent, isnt it? Make helping undeserving idiots in foreign jails the priority?

Only some undeserving 'idiots', it would seem.

How foolish is tweeting the kind of stuff Fattah did?

Very foolish.

He must have been living in some kind of racist, homophobic bubble to think posting those things was ok.

Still, I expect they went down well at the time with his followers.

If not being foolish is the criteria for the pp then he shouldn’t be prioritised.

Well no, I don’t think he should have been prioritised any more than that couple in Iran, for example. I haven’t heard the British government ( or celebrities) getting emotional about them being jailed.

The Muslim rape gangs and cover ups, by Labour politicians. It’s systemic in their party. They hate women.

‘For six years we campaigned to force Oldham Council to write to the government demanding a Public Inquiry. We fought for numbers. We endured smears, arrests, intimidation and repeated losses in the council chamber.

When we finally succeeded, the government had changed. I knew exactly what would come back from a Labour administration when Labour politicians were themselves implicated in the cover-up.

Jess Phillips’ refusal was inevitable. The contempt still shocked me.

I can't stand the woman. Even after being verbally assaulted after regaining her seat, she still gives her main constituents undeserved protection. If they weren't happy with her winning they won't be needing her support. Then again, no doubt they would leapfrog this 'mere' woman. She puts the needs of men before women and girls. Labour are bought and paid for.

MaturingCheeseball · 02/01/2026 11:48

She will be chucked out at the next election - for sure a Muslim Vote MP will get in there - although I’m sure a number of Labour MPs are as we speak touring the country looking for better seat options.

Interesting article in the guardian today ( sorry don't know how to link), by a previous Labour strategist explaining how the pressure from certain left factions led to an enormous push for the government to act on this case. Interestingly, he himself admits this constantly served to distract from all the more pressing issues ( economy, welfare, housing...), You know the important stuff that they're supposed to be doing to run this country! We have no hope do we with these idiots in charge.
