To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Twiglets1 · 27/12/2025 20:14

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

Yes it was. But it's Khan who has increased the CC to great sums ever since he became mayor. It is a gravy train indeed as the vehicular traffic in London is as bad as ever.

Yet he keeps being elected. What does that tell you?

That neither the Tories nor any other party put up a good enough alternative. I for one found nobody else to vote for last time. I suspect I was far from alone.

I've voted for independent candidates in the last two elections. I don't see this changing any time soon.

Well tbf it has reduced traffic, without it, traffic levels would be far higher surely?

Levels are higher now because of the EV exemption.

On the actual charge, other countries also have high charges but London faces costs from the actual congestion itself.

It couldn't possibly be because many Londoners support and like Khan, could it? I mean would he really have got in a third time (despite the best efforts of the rw press)if he was that bad?

I voted for him and would again if I was still in London.

The turn out last time was 40.5% which suggests many people either didn't turn up or, like me, put none of the above on the voting paper. Khan got 44% and the Tory candidate 33% I believe.

One reason he got elected again is the fact that the electorate were fed up with 14 years of Tory government and thus continued to vote for a Labour Mayor. The exception was obviously Boris Johnson.

Khan has wasted millions of London taxpayer's money with e.g. the ridiculous renaming of overground lines which cause utter confusion (and I am a born and bred Londoner of many years); also the exorbitant sums on policing marches in central London on such a frequent basis that it is virtually a no go area leaving tourists in complete bewilderment.

Anyway I digress (sorry @Twiglets1 ) back to the subject of the thread!

Maybe things will change now Labour are in nationally, the same way Wales always used to vote Labour but now it looks like a wipeout.

Protest is legal in this country, Khan has no choice, it would take Parliament to change the law.

The Mayor doesn't run TfL day to day, they decided to change the names and colours of the line, as one colour (orange) was confusing as the network got bigger.

As a Welsh person living in Wales I think it will be good for Wales to have a change. Labour has run the Senedd since its inception. If the polls are right it is looking like a left leaning coalition, most probably PC/Labour-under the new system winning a majority would be very difficult for any party.

EasternStandard · 03/01/2026 09:33

Whichever Labour leader loses that much in Wales after so long will feel it in terms of party support. It’ll be interesting to see what they do.

Yes. It will. I don't think Starmer will survive it.

Hopefully it will be a real wake up call for Labour. It will be interesting to see how things stand by 2029 for all the parties.

My daughter lives in London and she was equally complaining about the renaming of overground lines which has caused confusion as you say, and didn’t need doing especially at a time when money is tight. And she’s a fan of Khan generally but that seemed particularly pointless.

It didn’t help that the Tory candidate, Susan Hall, was a head-banger who was completely lacking in credibility.

However, I don’t think Khan is generally as hated in London as the right-wing tabloids make out. He’s done some good things - I love the way he’s improved air quality, for example. Equally, some of what he’s done hasn’t been great. But he’s competent, overall, even if you don’t agree with some of his specific policies. Which is more than can be said for a lot of politicians.

HappyFace2025 · 03/01/2026 11:56

Susan Hall was just unbelievable!

At least we have the Suffragette Line not the Transgender Line.😀

Polling shows its been a success.

£6m cost out of a total budget of over £20billion.... if only the Tories were quite so upset about £29billion wasted on the cancelled HS2 line..... we can but hope....

The fact that it's got to the point (has been for a long time) that police are scared of being called racist is a massive problem in itself because it then leads the criminal justice system being open to abuse. It's not only police who get called that when people raise legitimate concerns. There is no grey area with some people when they are assesing if racism is present. I cba to give examples of such abuse because they aren't even subtle. The latest is the ridiculous compensation being awarded to a prisoner in solitary, who aligns with Islamic extremism comes as no surprise. Poor sap has been rewarded for depression.

The prisoner in solitary hasnt been given any money

Classic!!

...Blaming Labour for something that Sunak did 15 years later... The Tories allowed costs to spiral out of control, which them led to Sunak cancelling, but not before he/Cons had spaffed 29 billion up the wall.

Like i said "but Labour have spent 6m ....."

Classic? You mean you’re often corrected as a consequence of bleeting incorrect information?

Lol! it never takes long for the right to come out with their passive aggressive comments.... "Bleeting" really? (i'll leave the spelling...) & diversion..

There is nothing i have posted which is incorrect.... HS2 cost £29 billion and was then cancelled.... money down the drain... meanwhile the right get upset about a £6m project.
Building started in 2017/18.. cost over runs nothing to do with Labour, despite your attempt at blaming Labour.

The Tories/Right wing posters on here can never ever accept that their party of choice has totally messed up over their 14 years in office.

However given the Trains talk and now Rosie D (of all things...) the thread has probably run its course,

Should it be a top priority for the UK government to help idiots who find themselves in trouble abroad entirely due to their own foolish actions?

Well it seems to be a top priority to welcome a Britain hating, jew hating, police hating maniac into the country.
Sauce for the goose.......
