To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

Tory bear trap ffs. This extremist is known for his extreme views but nah its all the Tories fault. Let's be more bothered about the Tories than a person who has made it clear he hates certain sections of society and happily wishes death on them. He's a racist, antisemitic homophobic danger to any western society. Looking forward to this debate in the Commons.

Of course it's a Tory bear trap. Admittedly it was unintentional but they have made a fool of Starmer by not doing due diligence before awarding el-Fattah citizenship. Starmer was passed the baton & continued lobbying for this guy's release just like the previous 3 or 4 PMs have done.

stomachamelon · 01/01/2026 17:08

I am surprised at the lack of due diligence.

The lack of support for Emily Demari was shocking. There was more support at the Tottenham games than at an official level.

Don't you find it weird that both Labour and the Tories were in total agreement that this man should be their 'top priority'. I haven't recently come across another issue that both parties seemed to be in total agreement about. Normally there's a little grumbling about slight differences of opinion or claims that 'their hands are tied'. But on this case both parties are blindly falling over themselves to welcome him back.

I do find it weird. I also find it weird that no journalists had picked up on this guys tweets until he arrives in the UK. The very high profile campaign for his release has been running for five years or more yet nobody has looked at his old Twitter posts until now.

Yes I find it odd that journalists (who are usually all over Twitter/X) didn't pick up on this vile man's character before he arrived here on Boxing Day.

Jeez, this thread. No wonder we end up with Islamist extremists, when a thread about one being granted citizen is taken over with comments from people avoiding condemning this as they are so desperate not to appear racist. It’s exactly that mentality that has led to us having such extremists in our country. You are not good people if you don’t condemn this man getting citizenship, you are just foolish.

Edited

Islam extremists exist because they hate non believers. No more no less.

That I will agree on. I wonder if celebs’ agents will scan SM before committing. Politicians too could instruct people to do so.

Surely the police will have to visit him at least to 'check his thinking?'

Nah that only applies to people like Harry Miller, you know, just a regular British citizen and taxpayer 😡

And also only applies to sex realists like graham linehan. Arrested at Heathrow for a tweet confirming that men can’t be women because they’ve got bollocks .. (basically)..

Kingscallops · 01/01/2026 17:24

Can't even be arsed to reply to anymore whataboutery shite.

He's a legend in my eyes and a talented one at that. No danger to the public whatsoever. Love him.

But don’t you think the whole thing is genuinely weird? The Tories giving him citizenship-the Labour Party apparently not doing due diligence either?

Yes, very weird.

EasternStandard · 01/01/2026 17:33

Perhaps we don’t have the guidelines for SM posts. Look at that Hansard with the Labour MP really going for it to get him here.

There’s so much egg on various faces maybe checking SM will feature more.

Hansard is eye opening on the subject of el-Fattah.

HappyFace2025 · 01/01/2026 16:46

Of course they did! He became a British citizen on their watch. Without that (he waited many years until he was able to use the fact his mother was British born to gain citizenship) Labour wouldn't have been able to get him out of Egypt. Both Tories and Labour are equally to blame that we have this person living here among us.

I don't buy the argument that nobody knew either!
The insinuation from the pp I was replying to suggested otherwise. 'Tory bear trap' suggests that the tories knew about him (probably true), but poor innocent Starmer simply fell into their trap.

Yes, something stinks. It doesn't add up at all.
I doubt we'll ever know the truth of it.

What I find strange is the performance around it. We don't generally have the PM shouting about citizenship applications and congratulating himself over them, and since Egypt imprisoned el-Fattah, it's safe to assume Starmer wasn't looking for a pat on the back from the Egyptians. Even if Fattah were a genuine political prisoner and not a racist, terrorist loving shit, it's dodgy political ground with so much current division around immigration, so I'd have thought it made more sense to keep it on the quiet, especially if it's true that the guy's high connections helped him along.

So obviously Starmer and his flying monkeys were looking to impress and win over someone by yelling about it and looking for praise. Who?

Edited for clarity.

HappyFace2025 · 01/01/2026 17:42

@ThatCyanCat they are looking for votes from Muslim heavy constituencies. This is not me being racist before someone jumps in. It is a fact that Labour need these votes back from the Independents they lost to in the General Election. They can't be sure of keeping white working class votes as so many are turning to Reform as immigration is out of control in their minds.

Kingscallops · 01/01/2026 17:44

Did I see somebody mention the spy theory on this thread, that he is meant to be worth more keeping him close??????

Exactly this. Who was Starmer crowing to?

When he was delighted and had made it a priority.

That's almost a conspiracy theory! Who would be be spying on and for whom? Even less likely that Keir would have been so fulsomely welcome if that was the case 😂

True 😆 I think this guy is quite far removed from the wonderful son of Hamas. In fact I'm embarrassed to be putting them on the same level.
