To refuse to let DD vape?

DD (16) wants to vape in her room. We have tried everything for 2 years to get her to stop vaping and she won’t so the rule so far has been no vaping in the house or garden.

DD has asked recently if she can vape in her room. DH thinks it’s fine as long as she has her window open but I don’t agree with him. AIBU? I’m not happy with DD vaping at all, let alone inside the house! What would you do?

It’s a firm no. She’s underage so you just say you won’t allow any underage vaping in your house full stop & any one you find you will destroy & any shop you know that is selling them to her will be reported to authorities. Just explain you love her & can’t stand by & watch her damage her health

No one vapes in my house regardless of their age.

My teenager vapes. I buy them for them. Hear me out.
I work on substance misuse, I see the damage illegal vapes do. The ones that contain THC and nitrazines etc.
Teenagers will tend to do things behind your back if you condemn it. I would rather know what is in the vape than them using one that they got from a friend or an illegal one.
We have tapered down from 2% nicotine to 1% and recently to liquid that doesn't contain nicotine so they will stop soon, hopefully 🤞🏻

I've posted the links so you understand my reasoning. Bear in mind I work with this on a daily basis.

I agree with you, there’s a problem with spiced vapes (synthetic THC) where I live - 2 kids in my son’s secondary school were taken ill after using them in the toilets just before Xmas. They buy them via WhatsApp / Snapchat and they are delivered to them. £15.

I don’t want her to vape at all. It is DH who wants to let her vape in the house (in her room with the window open).

Edited

I’m genuinely intrigued to know what his rationale is for this? Is he not at all concerned for the health risk to his own child?

There is no way on earth I’d allow this to happen

Good Luck

No smoking or vaping in my house regardless of age…you can’t stop her but certainly don’t make it easy! If they want vape, that their (bad) choice but do it outside, hopefully in the cold and wet..
