Is our postman a cheeky fucker?

I have just lost 3 stone in weight and decided to buy a new second hand wardrobe through Ebay. I will admit that I have been purchasing a lot of clothes etc.
Our postman keeps commenting to my husband about the parcels arriving on a daily basis. On one occasion he said to my husband "She must have bought the whole shop by now! The other day he said "There were no parcels for a few days, so I thought that things were under control!"
This is not even a postman we have known for many years, he's only been our postman for about 18 months.

I feel annoyed that he thinks that he has any right to comment on my parcels.
He's job is to deliver the mail and keep his opinions to himself.
Is he a cheeky fucker or AIBU?

You need to relax and get a sense of humor.

Yes.

NotrialNodeal · 11/12/2025 11:06

Chill out.

Shouldbeworkingnotreadingtalk · 11/12/2025 11:06

The next thread will be from someone saying that these days no one talks or makes polite conversation (ie in shops) .. I can see why you’re mentioning it, but honestly. … Unclench. … and well done on losing the weight.

HerVagestyTheQueef · 11/12/2025 11:06

He’s trying to be friendly and establish a relationship and rapport with his “clients”.
Maybe ill-judged in this case, but I doubt he thinks twice about you once he’s closed your gate.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 11/12/2025 11:07

Unclench - he is just making a bit of chit chat

Read this again.

I read posts like this and wonder why people no longer seem to have a sense of humor.

EINSEINSNULL · 11/12/2025 11:13

He's just making conversation.

JDM625 · 11/12/2025 11:13

What difference does that make??? It clearly is ALOT of clothes! He is trying to make a joke! Even if it was my job, I'd too would be making a joke like that for having to carry daily packages to house. How many clothes do you need?

TY78910 · 11/12/2025 11:14

Your husband must be reciprocating if postie knows the contents of the parcels. If there was no back and forth, this joke would have died down a long time ago. It’s not personal to you - it’s between them.

ComfortFoodCafe · 11/12/2025 11:15

It won’t kill you to have a sense of humour op.

Ukefluke · 11/12/2025 11:16

Ffs it's just a joke. You must clear the room at parties.

NuffSaidSam · 11/12/2025 11:16

It's just a joke, bit of light-hearted banter.

I'd try and chill out.

TheTaupeScroller · 11/12/2025 11:16

I'd be glad he's actually delivering them. Why does it bother you, really?
He touched a nerve, that's all. Your ebay parcels could have anything and everything, most people wouldn't think twice about him

Runrunrudolph · 11/12/2025 11:17

Well i agree with you OP.

How condescending and patronising the guys talking about the little woman in that way.

I would be furious. And if your H is joining in with this patter I would be having words with him.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 11/12/2025 11:18

What a bit like this?

AyrshireTryer · 11/12/2025 11:21

All the postie is trying to do is getting your stuff through your door.
A little joke too much? Maybe he's a little insensitive, maybe not.
Walking in silence? Blessed be the post?

XWKD · 11/12/2025 11:21

My friend's postman, and whatever couriers deliver to her, are like this. She finds it funny. It's lighthearted humour. They don't actually give a shit about what's in the boxes.

Pickledpoppetpickle · 11/12/2025 11:21

same, OP. Only for me it's Vinted and the guy in the local shop where I pick up. He mentioned yesterday he hadn't seen me for a couple of days and was worried....!

LevelHed · 11/12/2025 11:23

It's called banter. Shame so many people are so up themselves these days.

Gettingbysomehow · 11/12/2025 11:26

I think my postman is pretty sick of all my parcels too after a 5 stone weight loss.
I keep asking him if he knows what a door bell is because he never rings it.

TheatricalLife · 11/12/2025 11:26

Agree with everyone else. It's a joke. He doesn't actually give a shit about what you buy, why or how often.

Bigtreeesss · 11/12/2025 11:29

lol I saw my postman the other day walking down the road and he said he thought I’d moved as he hadn’t been to my house with a parcel in so long 😂

hes just making small talk, chill out
