Just having a bit of a thoughtful day really, thinking back to the mid 90’s and my youth
Life was so exciting then and looking back, I cannot believe the things we got up to from a young age and how different things will probably be for my Dd now

I’m 47, trapped in suburbia 😅 and nobody would likely imagine the type of person I was back then and until mid twenties really

If you were there, what is your life look like now, do you often feel as bored as I do? Would you go back?

New Year's Eve 2010. Two Brewers in Clapham. I think his name was Tony. He was a remarkably good kisser.

Oh I think I knew Clapham Tony 🤪🤪🤪

He was definitely 20s or 30s 😅My friend was chatting to his dad who was a silver fox, we got invited back to their hotel but we declined. It was just one of those lovely crazy nights you have in Greece, the atmosphere was amazing and you're fuelled up on beer and shots 🇬🇷

Wow, you make it sound dreamy... what an amazing holiday 😁

It was honestly one of the best holidays I've ever had. I thought Mykonos was going to be a shit hole like Magaluf but it was beautiful, such an amazing vibe. Proper LBQT atmosphere and rich Americans everywhere.

Maddy70 · 10/12/2025 22:22

Still raving :)

Helpwithdivorce · 10/12/2025 22:24

im 43 still go to creamfields every year. Miami ultra. Tomorrowland. Still raving just not as often.
It’s finding places to go now though. I don’t go on nights out often but finding anywhere that plays the music is impossible. Went out in Manchester recently and it was dire. Nowhere decent. All the clubs I knew of are long gone

Catladywithoutacat · 10/12/2025 22:25

I go to events were people are 50/60 and still party there is a good place in canary whaft which has a club like scene. People still enjoy their lives at any age I couldn’t dream of being at home everyday watching tv

DancingNotDrowning · 10/12/2025 22:33

Late 40s, used to spend my weekends at Turnmills, Bagleys and the Cross.

Now I go for boozey lunches where the most risqué thing I do is share a fag on the pavement at 4pm, or dinner parties where I drink expensive wine and spend the following day in bed hungover!

I loved my teens and twenties but no desire to relive them. I go to Ibiza and have a little dance in the beach clubs that cost more for the day than my 20-something self would have spent on clubs annually and then get up and do yoga and drink cold pressed beet and ginger shots.

I’d be in bed well before the Carl Cox close ramps up- Im a total cliche but no regrets. 🤣

canuckup · 10/12/2025 22:37

We're raving in the kitchen, cooking bone broth and shit

Do people here still do drugs to this day? As in ket, mdma?

God no, not keen on taking too many paracetamol now 🤣

I wouldn't touch ket with a bargepole. But I can tell you that the events I've been to, at least 75% of them are off their tits on molly and drinking water. Make of that what you will!

AutumnAllTheWay · 10/12/2025 23:02

47 also😂

Wouldn't enjoy it now!

Three kids and happy to be middle and (what older me would've considered boringly) middle aged.

I call it wisdom 😂

Good memories though!

FancyCatSlave · 10/12/2025 23:14

I’m 47, living in a rural idyll being very sensible and boring. Very happy though.

I’d like to go back in time for a weekend, but having survived it-I think it is safer to stick and be grateful for the fuzzy memories.

Ultravegas and Dreamscape in MK were my regular haunts until uni days in London and 2 summers working in Ibiza. Best times.

All the drugs and fags. It’d finish me
now!

ComedyGuns · 10/12/2025 23:18

I was going to these clubs in the South East in the 90s - what an amazing time. Me and everyone I knew were working full time in ‘cash in hand’ bar and restaurant jobs while claiming benefits (sorry!)). Our rent was about £35 a month and we were out about four times a week in restaurants, bars and clubs.

I didn’t take drugs, although most of my peers did, but my routine was to do the chat in the pub and then just dance in the club, and then on a Friday/Saturday my BF would always go to an after party as he was high and I wasn’t. I never suspected him at the time but 😧 in hindsight!

They were such amazing times and I’m hugely nostalgic for them. But…that was then and I’ve grown up now. I’m married with two adult children now. I still listen to current music but have absolutely no interest in actually revisiting my past - the great memories are enough, especially as my DCs will unfortunately never experience this due to the cost of living now. So utterly sad…

All the ones I know are old bald with wrinkly hairy faces that still think they have the moves every time they come to mine for a drink, which they have usually mixed with something else. By10pm they are usually passed out 😂

My home town did a couple of old raving nights in some of the old clubs, it was a really sad sight to see. I didn’t go but there were newspaper articles, photos and even worse videos of 40/50 yos dressing and behaving like there were 18 again 😬

Agree though, I’m glad I experienced the 90s, it was an amazing decade we will never have anything like it again.

See I never really got the " rave " scene even back then I was a biker girl going to live Rock music in the pubs. And still do lol

bowtieandheels · 10/12/2025 23:23

Still at it here, 50 next year and still got it in me to be rolling in at 6am.
although the 2-10pm raves are much more appealing these days.

Colddampandmoany · 10/12/2025 22:51

God no, not keen on taking too many paracetamol now 🤣

I get my highs from the gym these days, occasionally take an anti-inflammatory if my knee gets sore 😉

Still love the music though and a boogie on the floor 💃

Linzi2377 · 10/12/2025 23:29

i would pay 1 grand for an e from circa 1992 🙈

im early 40s, went to my first rave recently (I was a young mum and the past few decades devoted to sensible life choices). Absolutely loved it, most people there were in their 40s, off their tits and the room was full of love, can’t wait for the next one!

Where did you go?

I never did drugs, mainly because I was too scared to, Danny Kendall and Zamora put me right off!

santasbaubles · 10/12/2025 16:30

42 and I still go! It’s just twice a year now instead of twice a month. Love a day rave. I went to a Boiler Room in the summer and it was packed to the rafters with 20-somethings off their tits on MDMA, so I don’t think it’s exactly dying out.

@santasbaubles I'd love to go a Boiler Room - where was it and who was playing? 😎

My eldest loves a rave and travels to Amsterdam and Berlin for the best ones. Rudely, he will not let me tag along! I know I could make it through to 8am too 👊

These days we go to day raves, there have been a few in Leeds. The most recent was a retro one, the DJs the ones who played in the early 90s. Best day/night in a long time!

Therapee · 10/12/2025 12:14

Agree with this! Plus there's no more reeking of cigarette smoke afterwards. It's great!

I miss the fag smell, the clouds of smoke. Was part of the 'atmosphere' 😁

I've still got a bloody scar under my arm from being burned on the dance floor. Happened regularly. All part of the experience 😂

Dhsy · 11/12/2025 17:07

If your DC do drugs do your care?

aboveandover · 11/12/2025 17:37

The Jon Hamm trend on social media is giving me all the feels about this atm haha. Google it.

Am a similar age to you and I used to DJ in bars and clubs weekly. Can still be tempted out to a day rave if I've had 3 early nights and have comfy trainers on.
