Just having a bit of a thoughtful day really, thinking back to the mid 90’s and my youth
Life was so exciting then and looking back, I cannot believe the things we got up to from a young age and how different things will probably be for my Dd now

I’m 47, trapped in suburbia 😅 and nobody would likely imagine the type of person I was back then and until mid twenties really

If you were there, what is your life look like now, do you often feel as bored as I do? Would you go back?

I bet Gen Z’s children (gen Beta? 🤔) will rebel. I think / hope there will be a new cultural revolution in a decade or two (music and art are the one thing AI can’t beat us at!) and I bet gen B will be at the heart of it!

My Dd is Gen Alpha and I see a lot of fun and naughtiness in her and her friends, I reckon they’ll be having fun and hopefully not just into skincare and Sunday night resets

If only 😫

Think this would make a good thread in itself...

Be a 'never' for me...

I went to Mykonos in September and snogged a young Argentinian footballer 🤭 Mykonos is wiiiillldddd 😱 💃😅 He was beautiful though 😍

I went clubbing in my hometown in the summer with my Gen X besties, we had a great time although the youngsters in the club were all on those laughing gas balloons 😳 It was horrific, one girl collapsed on the dancefloor and was carried out by the bouncers 😕

It was me that started the clubbing nostalgia thread on Saturday, loved the reminiscing 😁

I go out at 6am for a run most days; I often think ohhh, that's the time I used to stagger home on a Sunday morning and wonder what happened to me 🤣

Can you tag the thread you made please :)

The footballer in Greece sounds 💓 how old are you?

I love nothing more than a cup of tea and a good history book in bed now, but I do think back and feel gratitude for the number of times I climbed out my bedroom window without my parents knowing, the number of fences in cow fields I got caught upside down in, and all the hallucinations I saw along the way.

What age did everyone here start

A: Drinking alcohol and getting drunk
B: drugs that are harder than weed
C: smoking?

Drinking-12 maybe
Drugs more than weed-14/15
Smoking-Tried it at 11 maybe, smoking regularly-14/15

I was from a good middle class background in a wealthy area. The craziest were the ultra wealthy girls from the girl’s private school

My mum would be shocked if she knew 😬

Just turned 48 here. Living it up in Bedfordshire, a supply teacher with two kids, a partner and a dog...
I set foot in my first nightclub at 14 and didn't stop for 15 years after that. I didn't even need to drink or take drugs, I just loved the sheer joy of going for it on the dancefloor! I keep telling myself I need to go back and in the meantime, I'm practising my dance moves in the kitchen and getting out of breath really quickly!

Pifflepafflewifflewaffle · 10/12/2025 20:53

im early 40s, went to my first rave recently (I was a young mum and the past few decades devoted to sensible life choices). Absolutely loved it, most people there were in their 40s, off their tits and the room was full of love, can’t wait for the next one!

I love a dancefloor too. An empty one, someone has to be the first one up... and then others join you. It must be a buzz for a DJ to see that happening in front of their eyes?

foodlovefood · 10/12/2025 21:02

I am sat next to a nearly 50 raver. He goes to events with friends every few months and has a blow out with friends in Ibiza annually.

I am a rick indie chick. I have a blow out with friends dancing into the early hours every few months. But I still go to gigs and festivals with DP. Probably more now as o can afford to glamp and go to more gigs I am older!

ChocoChocoLatte · 10/12/2025 21:10

I am here and was LOVING a Jamiroquai gig last week….. no longer music to go out to but music to hoover to these days 😂

OMG, if he was a footballer he must be in his 20s or 30s? Did you get his number? Keep in touch?

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 10/12/2025 21:18

Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Life was easy and fun.
I'm also 47 but not at all bored, I do different things now to entertain myself but I don't think anyone who knows me would be surprised that I was a raver.

Dhsy · 10/12/2025 21:19

Do people here still do drugs to this day? As in ket, mdma?

You've taken me right back to THAT video.... Virtual Insanity 🤯

ZenNudist · 10/12/2025 21:23

I stopped clubbing in the 00s. Music wasn't as good, vibes weren't there, club nights became extortionate. I also didn't want to take drugs because I was holding down a responsible job.

I'd go to an elder rave, like those orchestral ministry of sound concerts.

If I could go back in time and be young again I'd do it for one night but I don't reckon I'd love it like I did.

I'm going to gigs more this year. That's fun.

Should also add that I'm going to one of next years Prodigy gigs and not sure if I'm more excited to see them or the legend that is Carl Cox.

AngeloMysterioso · 10/12/2025 21:30

I’m 40 and still raving, and have raver friends in their 50’s! Yeah we get a bit of backache now but we still have fun 😉

He was definitely 20s or 30s 😅My friend was chatting to his dad who was a silver fox, we got invited back to their hotel but we declined. It was just one of those lovely crazy nights you have in Greece, the atmosphere was amazing and you're fuelled up on beer and shots 🇬🇷

I'm mid 50s now, still go out a lot tbh. Quite often to rave type events or festivals.

Love my music. Love dancing. Love dressing up and looking fabulous.

theonlygirl · 10/12/2025 21:39

I spend a lot of time in the car with DS2, 14, who, independently, has developed a love of contemporary and old skool house, much to my delight. We rave in the car. DH and I did for a time go to big nights probably twice and year, but I can't even face that anymore. Many happy memories though, the night the car got stuck in the sand after a rave on the beach, coming out of a club and finding the designated driver off his tits in the car......

ChocoChocoLatte · 10/12/2025 21:42

@YelramBobit was a brilliant gig

Reduxrabbit · 10/12/2025 21:47

Started clubbing at 15 in 1981 and stopped when expecting my second in 2000 so had a good run, but still dancing at gigs and festivals because I’m now invisible and honestly don’t care what others think. More concerned about my knees view on the matter.

Whichone1 · 10/12/2025 21:52

Still about and dance in my kitchen all the time 😂 and still go to all the festivals … and bring the kids!
