Just having a bit of a thoughtful day really, thinking back to the mid 90’s and my youth
Life was so exciting then and looking back, I cannot believe the things we got up to from a young age and how different things will probably be for my Dd now

I’m 47, trapped in suburbia 😅 and nobody would likely imagine the type of person I was back then and until mid twenties really

If you were there, what is your life look like now, do you often feel as bored as I do? Would you go back?

I went to Mykonos in September and snogged a young Argentinian footballer 🤭 Mykonos is wiiiillldddd 😱 💃😅 He was beautiful though 😍

I went clubbing in my hometown in the summer with my Gen X besties, we had a great time although the youngsters in the club were all on those laughing gas balloons 😳 It was horrific, one girl collapsed on the dancefloor and was carried out by the bouncers 😕

It was me that started the clubbing nostalgia thread on Saturday, loved the reminiscing 😁

I go out at 6am for a run most days; I often think ohhh, that's the time I used to stagger home on a Sunday morning and wonder what happened to me 🤣

How old are you?

ColinOfficeTrolley · 10/12/2025 16:19

Im 48 and was a raver. I do go to the odd daytime rave, not very often. I still LOVE house music from late 80s/early 90s and listen to it regularly.

I loved them few years of drugs, shagging and god knows what else, but I enjoy a peaceful life nowadays lol.

Can anyone recommend some decent raves in London. (Nothing cheesy please - proper hardcore stuff)

Drumheads in north london always has great lineups - and it finishes at 10.30pm!

Dhsy · 10/12/2025 16:23

What age did everyone here start

A: Drinking alcohol and getting drunk
B: drugs that are harder than weed
C: smoking?

Ghostmartin · 10/12/2025 16:24

They are all sipping pints and smoking spliffs in the Golden Lion, Todmorden 😄

I'm reading that question hearing my mum's disapproving tone 😅

53!

A professional footballer?? Was he much younger than you? Glad you enjoyed yourself, anyway ☺️

Not disapproving at all. I've only ever been with my DH so never snogged a stranger.

Ballondor · 10/12/2025 16:29

Would 100% go back and still very occasionally do so.

The 1990s were amazing, I loved every minute of it.

I did a lot of things that I’d be horrified if DD did them, but don’t regret a single minute. Incredible.

Mumtoabeast · 10/12/2025 16:29

@boobybum check out Peach & Strawberry Sundae fb page, they've just had a day rave at Fabric end of Nov, next one is Feb.

santasbaubles · 10/12/2025 16:30

42 and I still go! It’s just twice a year now instead of twice a month. Love a day rave. I went to a Boiler Room in the summer and it was packed to the rafters with 20-somethings off their tits on MDMA, so I don’t think it’s exactly dying out.

matercatta · 10/12/2025 16:30

Been to a few ministry / Ibiza classics and the odd other night out but I’m a bit of a walking John Lewis ad really 😂 I do miss it but couldn’t do it weekly now

HeyThereDelilah1 · 10/12/2025 16:31

They’re working as ad execs.

Nearly 49 and spent much of my late teens and early twenties taking illegal substances in clubs. Best years of my life, absolutely loved it.

I have a 21 year old DS who is in Bristol who seems to have caught the rave but too so I live through him these days. I shudder at the thought of not being in bed by 10pm now rather than just heading out for an all nighter

I don't know exactly, it was 2.30am and drink had been taken 😅 He said he was a footballer but I suspect by his beer goggles his career may have been on the decline at this point 🤔 Still a nice memory to cherish though 😁

Keepgettingolder81 · 10/12/2025 16:50

Day raves with my 19yr old!! Not a drinker so I drive. We love it!

Same.....ahhh the good old days eh? 😬

AnybodyAnywhere · 10/12/2025 17:56

I was born in 1955 so the 70’s were my era. I loved the Festivals and the skinny long haired boys 😊

I loved them so much that I still go to 4 or 5 Festivals a year with still mostly the same bands and same people. Still camp and put up my own tent.

The only thing that’s changed are those skinny long haired boys … 😂

NoKidsSendDogs · 10/12/2025 18:31

I'm a bit younger, but I also went raving back in the day. We are def still about and me and my husband still go relatively often. We go to at least one or two concerts a month, travel pretty often for concerts as well (to europe, US, etc) and recently went to ministry where there was plenty of others in the same age bracket. Since we didn't have kids, I don't think we have changed that much or had to. Granted we don't enjoy getting falling down drunk every weekend but I'm not sure I ever did.

Brendahollowayjustlookwhatyouhavedone · 10/12/2025 20:00

A bit before rave ,Northern soul niters travelled all over UK from Ne Scotland danced all weekend and chemically enhanced with amphetamine.
Still love the music but any attempt to do the same now would equal a heart attack.

Round trips of 800 -900 miles to go to a niter wasn't unusual .

Oldraver · 10/12/2025 20:28

Well we still go the odd hit of raving maybe once or twice a year and it usually involves a hotel and sleeping

Most of the events I now see are of the day raving starting around midday and finishing around 10 pm which is ok but actually quite awkward if you need to hotel and stay over

Colddampandmoany · 10/12/2025 20:32

Crunchienuts · 10/12/2025 15:23

Yes they were, I was trying to explain to a student assistant at work but she clearly didn’t get it. Warehouse raves, outdoor raves, free parties, after parties. Good times.

As for doing it now, I’m just glad I’m still alive, in bed every night by 10. Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do anything! It was enough. I’m 46 but there seemed to be more casualties in the age group slightly older than me, those who were out at the acid house parties in the late 80s early 90s.

I don’t smoke now and barely drink, maybe three times a year, it’s like i’m a totally different person 😅

If only 😫

We still go to a couple of big old skool nights a year. We need to book a week off work after 😂 but we love it. And I'm 55 so I know at this point my time is very limited indeed! 🙌🏻
