We found a secret room in our house, picture included

I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

I literally just finished reading a book where a family moves into a new house, and the husband finds a secret room. There's an old armchair, a Welsh dresser, etc. in the room. And a bunch of momentos (glasses, wallet, watch, dog collar, etc) inside the dresser, kept by a serial killer, from the victims, who now wants the stuff back!

Was it a good book? What's it called? Need idea's for book club!

I don't understand what this means - are you saying there is a mirror image room sized space completely closed off on the opposite side of the loft?!

(if that's right, are you sure that side isn't next door? Can you imagine knocking a hole in and finding yourself face to face with your neighbour in their loft conversion! 😂)

It does look like the top half of the wall has been removed to allow furniture / large stuff to be removed.

But it is so weird, and intentionally hidden - the obvious place to put a door is where the wall has been removed! Why crawl when you could just have a door you can walk in unless you're hiding that the room is there at all - that I think I would contact the police in case it's the background in something terrible that they're trying to identify a location of.

I know it sounds a bit drama llama, but it happens - there is a open database showing backgrounds etc of awful photos in the hope the public will identify a location or brand of wallpaper or a clothing label to give police a lead.

As you come up the hatch into the loft the right hand side has been closed off.
We are semi detached and the right side is not the attached side.
In this photo taken from inside the weird room looking out into the loft.
The pink circle is the hatch coming up into the loft.
The red is a boarded up wall that goes all the way along. There's two double bedrooms under that side of the loft.

A tad odd I must say.

However a relative of mine found a ‘hidden’ room when they moved into a very old house. Nothing funny was found just very strange finding it. Wonder if it could have been a priesthole but although old not that old.

I find the wallpaper upsetting to look at, but I don't know why. Is it just 1970s decor? Is the lighting more modern?

Yep that's right.
A- is a really good space, 3 of us up there this morning
And C nowhere to be seen, boarded up.
