I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

So the hatch coming into the loft is almost in the middle of the house.
To the right it's been boarded up, not the floor is boarded as in it's been cut off.
To the left, middle is fully boarded and a good space. Beyond that is the creepy half wall to get into the weird room. Either side of the room, the eaves, it's not boarded. On the right of the room just planks of wood to get to the green door. But you have to crawl. It's very very strange. Then the light switch to the room in in the room next to the green door.
I didn't crawl along the side I just stepped over the half wall, inside the room and turned the lights on.
I'm guessing that half wall was a full wall maybe? I don't know, it makes no sense.
If the people we bought the house from are on here please DM me.

Jings. Who sat in that chair, doing what…

Secret wank room - who were the previous owners?
Some nice middle-class couple but the dad used to retire to the loft a lot with his magazines?

sittingonabeach · 08/12/2025 20:30

Have you checked with your neighbours?

justasking111 · 08/12/2025 20:30

It's not healthy for your roof. I'd want to know what's going on behind the panels. Damp, rot?

Say Mr. Tumble three times and see if he appears.

Now that would be scary !

sittingonabeach · 08/12/2025 20:34

Did the survey mention anything?

Doggielovelouie · 08/12/2025 20:38

Defo think it’s worth telling the police - the background could be significant

it defo looks like some
kind of interrogation set up - if you were using it to read you’d have a reading light not the spotlights imv

Doggielovelouie · 08/12/2025 20:40

Muffinmam · 08/12/2025 18:31

It’s a storage area. You’re overthinking this.

It’s so not a storage area!!!

look at the set up

Stravaig · 08/12/2025 20:40

I think you need to open a viewing slot into the boarded off section. And pray you don't see a skeleton staring back at you.

tonyhawks23 · 08/12/2025 20:42

Dh says it's just a man cave, not creepy at all.

Agapornis · 08/12/2025 20:53

Diagram please? Of the whole loft, I'm confused by the description.

Balloonhearts · 08/12/2025 20:53

Sorry if I'm not understanding but can you get to what's behind the green door? Does it open?

I agree with you, there's something not quite right about it, it's like some creepy child porn set or something.

Looks like it's for photography of some kind. All the electrics but no screen or anything, also very good lighting for a bizarre storage area.

A wank room would have a comfier chair. Why a chair like that? What were they tying someone to it or what?

Mygosh · 08/12/2025 20:56

I don't want to be the boring person here, but I just see it as a storage room. I used to work as a plumbing & heating engineer and see a few lofts like this with 'war stock' in them. Filled with tins, toilet roll and water. I actually got jealous when it was lockdown. Not quite sure about the access though, that's quite bizarre.

Doggielovelouie · 08/12/2025 20:58

There is no way this a playroom etc it’s just too small - I reckon video camera infront of the chair - also explains the spot lights and papering the walls to make it look more like a room
downstairs - camera gone leave the chair

those just saying it’s an extra room - it’s not - it’s a concealed room that no one mentioned!!! That you have to wriggle to get into

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 08/12/2025 21:00

Looks like a torture chamber 😬

Ohwhatswrong · 08/12/2025 21:07

This is the eaves to the right of the room.
DH is the red circle.
The green circle is the door.
The pink circle is the half wall.

How do you get into it? Do you climb over the half wall or go in through the green trap door?

Wobblylegs1 · 08/12/2025 21:12

Did you not get a survey done OP?
Or did the surveyor not see it?

I think you need to open a viewing slot into the boarded off section. And pray you don't see a skeleton staring back at you.

I was thinking that. I would want to know what was behind that boarded off area. It’s probably another room, or maybe an attempt at a room they gave up on. It might have clues to its use though.

I do think the room you can see is a gaming or work area, and was originally fully boarded off, to make it easier to heat.

Ohwhatswrong · 08/12/2025 21:14

Yes we had a survey. Didn't get mentioned

Probably a hiding place to get out of doing jobs around the house. "I've just got to sort something out in the loft first" [disappears for 2 hours]. Or maybe a masturbation chamber knowing no-one will walk in and interrupt you or bang on the loo door asking why you are taking so long?!

“Masturbation chamber” 😂😂😂

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 08/12/2025 21:18

To the right it's been boarded up, not the floor is boarded as in it's been cut off.

I don't understand what this means - are you saying there is a mirror image room sized space completely closed off on the opposite side of the loft?!

(if that's right, are you sure that side isn't next door? Can you imagine knocking a hole in and finding yourself face to face with your neighbour in their loft conversion! 😂)

It does look like the top half of the wall has been removed to allow furniture / large stuff to be removed.

But it is so weird, and intentionally hidden - the obvious place to put a door is where the wall has been removed! Why crawl when you could just have a door you can walk in unless you're hiding that the room is there at all - that I think I would contact the police in case it's the background in something terrible that they're trying to identify a location of.

I know it sounds a bit drama llama, but it happens - there is a open database showing backgrounds etc of awful photos in the hope the public will identify a location or brand of wallpaper or a clothing label to give police a lead.
