We found a secret room in our house, picture included

I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

I can genuinely not understand the utter drama llama reaction. I would be chuffed to have an additional space, even just a reading nook. Sometimes, I just have to shake my head at the OTT hysteria and ridiculousness of threads.

I keep trying to load the photos but it's not working. I've tried them all and just 1 but it just has the loading circle.

Someone or something is stopping you sending photos!!

On a more mundane note, if there were teens they may have gone through "I want a room which is completely private and away from people where i can go and read or draw" phase and they chose this completely impractical place but got tired of halfway through decorating. I hope it is something like that anyway! You'd have thought it would have come up on the house survey.

Next to the green door is the switch for the spot lights.
Then the last photo is taken from inside the room looking out into the rest of the loft. Where we have realised that it's boarded up. So the same size as the room should be on the side that's boarded up.

The green door take you to the eaves. The done it photo, at the back you can see the door but it's so strange. You have to crawl on your hands and knees to get to that door. There's some wooden planks laid across to get to it.
It makes no sense, unless it was a full wall there and not the half wall that's there now.

I think you should potentially consider telling the police? They might be able to match it to the background of images online if it was used for anything dodgy.

Looks like a half-finished loft conversion. Perhaps ran out of money. Surely it's pretty normal to have a hatch to maintain eaves access?

But it's not half finished at all, it's a random little room with a wall to climb over to get in? Noone would decorate a random corner of the room while the rest of the loft is just loft.

me too, I so desperately needed more space for my family, now Im divorced and have it but it’s not permanent. I even told my grandparents hint hint didn’t get anywhere

I think it was fully boarded. If it was there should be evidence, maybe attatchment points in the wood.

If it wasn't why would you put that light switch by the hatch ? Normally the switch goes near the entrance point so you turn it on as you go in.

I am going to guess they needed to remove the board to get stuff in and out because crawling under the eaves with furniture would be hard work/impossible.

Is the bit of board that was covering up the big entrance around somewhere in the loft ?

What are all those wires ?

It's also weird that if it were used for some strange purpose the previous owner did not completely disassemble it. As someone else pointed out it could easily be taken for a part failed extension with a bit of modification.

That's so creepy,it's like someone was kept in there.i also think you should go to the police.people don't have a boarded up hidden room for no reason.its not like it's a storage place is it.
