We found a secret room in our house, picture included

I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

Call on the old occupant and enquire what they can tell you. Just say you’ve come across it and wondered what it was used for. I bet they’ve never used the attic, some people don’t, so won’t be able to tell you. I think it will be a previous occupant to them.

You need to do some research on the history of the house. Previous residents etc. I think the chair is very odd.

OMG me too! When I saw the picture that’s the first thing I thought. How very strange. Do people have the same dreams? Love to know, as well, what the “hidden room” dream means.

I found one in my bog-standard 3-bed semi, just over 100 years old. The landing had a false ceiling to accommodate spotlights, and as we had agreed not to use the loft to store stuff I never opened the hatch. Until we had new wiring and the electrician had to go into the loft…found a second hatch and a fully wallpapered room, carpet, aged computer screens, and cushions. There was also a door leading to the rest of the loft. It didn’t spook me but it did feel weird. He did what he needed to do, shut both hatches, and I’ve put it out of my mind. Until now…

I think the chair is one that they didn't know whether to throw out or not.

Do the spotlights come on with the other lights in the loft? Or separate switch?

For the dreamers- dreaming of discovering a secret room in your home is said to represent untapped potential or feelings of discovering something new about yourself (mine is always really organised and tidy and probably represents the part of me that craves being less chaotic!😂).

I am being to feel it may be necessary to build one of these in my loft to creep people out in 50 years time.

There is quite a lot of space up there.

It’s a w**king chair. Definitely somewhere a previous husband stored and enjoyed his porn collection without his wife knowing about it.

It looks super creepy but I reckon it was just an over occupied house where the occupants tried to create an extra space, either as a sleeping space or office space. The chair is just something random left behind. You have no way of knowing what else was kept in there along with it.

Btw I don't know why folk keep asking about a 'full survey' - the COST! Do people still have them in anything that isn't a grand pile? I've got eyes for cracks, a nose for damp, & surveyors won't remove anything to see behind carpets etc anyway!

I put it through google lens and there’s no salacious photos coming up. There are however lots of pics of similar small rooms, there for legit reasons. Ones an Airbnb room! Another is part of a house listing. Maybe some just used it to listen to music

Me too! My dreams are positive though, "wow looks at this amazing space that we can use, how am I going to decorate it" rather thank " shit, this is a bleak and scary sex den." I'm so disappointed when I wake up.
