To ask why exactly is Holly Willoughby so disliked these days?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 14:37

No I’m not Holly or a member of her pr team.

I just don’t get why HW is so massively disliked these days. She doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. But her presenting career has obviously taken a huge knock.

HW wasn’t the one messaging underage boys. We have no evidence to suggest she was aware of it. So why has she basically been banished?

Is this another example of women paying for men’s mistakes?

Im on a group chat and a nasty-ish comment was made about Holly and I just don’t get why.

You'll have to delve into the dreaded Daily Fail. It's all there!

I did!

No she didn’t push into the queue at the queens funeral. They were given access because they were there reporting on the event

No they weren’t. I know that for a fact.

Okiedokie123 · 02/12/2025 20:23

@Bookloveruk spot on imho.
Ive never been keen on her. She seems so fake. Queuegate magnified my thinking re her and also Phil….. who I liked in his broom cupboard/Gordon/sarah Greene days. Never since then.

IAmKerplunk · 02/12/2025 20:25

It’s ironic that PS only got the This Morning gig because John Leslie quit/was sacked!

Reporting or not they didn’t push in the queue

OneLovingDog · 02/12/2025 20:27

I don’t think she’s as squeaky clean as some seem to think. Her love of ❄️❄️ is quite known.

Donsyb · 02/12/2025 20:28

Freebus · 02/12/2025 20:08

The whole queue thing was ridiculous. Hw and PS were doing their jobs!

Yes Beckham chose to queue, brilliant PR on his part, but do you really think he doesn't get a massive amount of perks, tickets to sporting events, whatever concerts or shows he wants to attend ?

They weren’t doing their jobs. They weren’t on the approved press list.

I like her. Confused

Coconutter24 · 02/12/2025 20:25

Reporting or not they didn’t push in the queue

They were not on the press list. So if they wanted to go in, they should have queued with the public.

IAmKerplunk · 02/12/2025 20:29

Coconutter24 · 02/12/2025 20:25

Reporting or not they didn’t push in the queue

They avoided having to queue by going in the press area for a report/segment that didn’t exist - so under false pretences

Charlize43 · 02/12/2025 20:31

I don't think it's unreasonable to wish that she'd F off.

If I saw her in Lidl cutting into the queue, I'd probably lob a courgette at her
.

I could give or take Holly, I don't have any feelings towards her tbh

But,

Wholesome means someone who is kind, moral, and genuinely good, exhibiting positive traits like compassion, honesty, and trustworthiness

I've only just read the article but it was a genuine accident wasn't it, she stayed with the victim until the police arrived, gave him water and admitted guilt as soon as the police arrive

She showed several wholesome traits in those interactions 🤷‍♀️

But did she ask him if he was ok?!

And who cares if they did? Celebrities always get perks.

I like Holly, but I do have to agree, Phil and Holly were NOT reporting on anything (to do with the Queen being interstate.) If they were, then what happened to the film footage/reports of theirs? They don't exist because they weren't there in a 'working capacity.'

The hate and vitriol aimed at them for cutting the queue was ludicrous though.

His neck was broken! He couldn’t andwer if she did.

(Although I guess we couldn’t answer through the TV either).

LemonDrizzleKay · 02/12/2025 20:34

I actually quite like the idea that her sugary sweet persona belies a grumpy difficult woman. Why do we need women to be “nice”?

She’s like Bad Barbie.

The whole nauseating “Firstly, how are you?” Speech

That was cringe central!

Who didn’t say, “well actually Holly I’m totes marv, but then I’m not the one trying to shmarm my way out of a PR nightmare”

The whole Phil thing was like the Morning Show but actually real. Who amongst us wouldn’t have done a legger? But that speech…cringe to the power of numbers you can’t count.

Holly has had a scary and shitty year. Smart move to lay low. Today’s headlines are unfortunate but fair play to get for waiting to turn herself in and admitting culpability.

I’ve commented before on threads about HW (of which there sadly seem to be a few)!

I've socialised in the same circles as Holly over the years. One of my good friends knows her well and I've been to a few dinners/girls nights/bbqs etc where she's been there. I absolutely cannot claim to be friends with her…

BUT I have always found her to be genuine, sincere, interesting to talk to and she seems to take a real interest in people. She always remembers details from the last time she met me and seems mildly obsessed with my dog (sadly now RIP where she sent me a beautiful present and card) which I always take as a good sign of someone's personality!
She is guarded about anything 'showbiz' and changes the subject if someone oversteps in their questions but is always polite about it. She also has quite a self deprecating sense of humour which I like
As I said, I can't claim to know her well but I feel I've met her enough times that it doesn't seem to be an act
Doesn't match with lots of comments on here but that's my view 🤷🏻‍♀️

Evergreen21 · 02/12/2025 20:49

Ant McPartlin didn't get anywhere near the same hate for drink driving and causing an accident with a child in the car. So I don't think it is just her dangerous driving that caused the issue. I think qeuegate did cause a lot of distaste towards her although they did explain the press passes and how they were there in a professional capacity not personal like David Beckham so I do think that was unfair.

I think her presenting definitely improved over the years but I never warmed to her. I remember them both presenting This morning after the NTA s when they turned up in the outfits from the night before and it all just seemed so contrived. Her and Phil always had injokes on the show and I felt they were rude to people they had on at times. She was always up his backside till it was no longer in her best interests to do so. Her statement with all the pauses and sighs was so disingenuous.

I would have more respect for her had she said that they were friends and whilst she didn't want to say anything to hurt him she was disappointed in what she was learning. She could have said something along the lines of hoping he got his turn to share his side of the story. Instead she well and truly threw him under the bus which whilst well deserved just illustrated how ruthless she is. She wasn't the only presenter to do so but Dermot and Alison handled it much better.

I think she would actually do quite well on Strictly if she was doing Tess's role. I'd just prefer if they gave someone else a chance.

I agree (although I’m pretty sure the dead Queen was lying-in-state rather than spending time languishing between actual states 😆)

He drove drunk. I don’t care how “decent” you act on camera that is appalling.

My sister was killed by a drunk driver. I ended up being raised by a mum who had a nervous breakdown as a direct result.

Edited

Off topic, but George Michael drove while under the influence of drugs and I've never read of anyone criticising him for this.

Teakettletrio · 02/12/2025 20:58

@Hollyisalrightactuallysorry that’s exactly what I mean by her playing a cartoon version of herself for her public persona. Somebody at some point went ‘there’s a gap in the market for a woman who blokes who like fun ‘birds’ who look perfect, but not too perfect, who can cook, who are buxom, but they could also go to the pub with. And she must seem unthreatening to women. Like a good mate, drinking savvy B at a bottomless brunch’ and tah-dah! Holly Willoughby was created. It’s so reductive. Like watching an advert for 15 years.
And speaking of adverts, she clearly does not dye her own hair. But we are invited to think that. Like she’s just a normal gal. All fun and niceness. Like the perfect woman should be. TV bosses make these characters and expect us all to aspire to be them. That’s why it’s toxic. HW Dunelm bed sheets, anyone?
