To ask why exactly is Holly Willoughby so disliked these days?

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 14:37

No I’m not Holly or a member of her pr team.

I just don’t get why HW is so massively disliked these days. She doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. But her presenting career has obviously taken a huge knock.

HW wasn’t the one messaging underage boys. We have no evidence to suggest she was aware of it. So why has she basically been banished?

Is this another example of women paying for men’s mistakes?

Im on a group chat and a nasty-ish comment was made about Holly and I just don’t get why.

I honestly thought she got all that work because everyone loved seeing her. I thought I was the only one who didn’t want to see her on every single programme. I don’t dislike her either.

I thought she got all the work because her DH is a TV producer? 😂 I don’t actually know how true that is, but it’s what I’ve read about a few times.

I think it’s overexposure, like with anything it gets too much, whether that be singers, actors or the like. It seems to me she’s had a charmed life which is lovely but let someone else have a bit of that now. That squeaky clean image that she once had isn’t quite to bright these days and it’s boring now.

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 02/12/2025 19:30

I think it’s because she must have known about the relationship he had with that young lad. I mean he was a runner that was being given air time. That’s not normal. Her and Phil always came across as if they were really close so it was seem possible that she was aware of the situation or at least had suspicions.

she then came across really ott when Schofield wasn’t going to return to the tv. Asking the audience if they were ok?

queue gate was the start of the downfall.

i think we have probably moved on from
her and she will struggle to get back to where she was without massive help from her husband. I hope she doesn’t get strictly, there’s lots of other talent out there.

No they weren't reporting on it.

They didn’t report live from there but they were granted access so they could film for This Morning

I definitely don’t want to do that, there are many fantastic female people in media, it’s important to champion them.

She just happens to be not a nice person at all.

You seem to have a real bee in your bonnet about her. Maybe it was you that was the problem?

I wouldn't say I don't like her exactly, but I don't watch anything if she's on it. It's the giggly airhead thing, the way she speaks as if she's presenting Blue Peter. It makes her seem lacking in intelligence, which I doubt she is really.

Yes , this. She comes across so sickly sweet. A bit Mrs Perfect.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 02/12/2025 19:34

Like most ITV presenters, she was overhyped and over exposed.

Coconutter24 · 02/12/2025 19:14

No she didn’t push into the queue at the queens funeral. They were given access because they were there reporting on the event

But the report they were there to do never surfaced - they only gave that reason once someone called them out on it

FullOfLemons · 02/12/2025 19:38

Her bad behaviour and motoring offences seem to pale into insignificance compared to somebody like Boy George ( … who went to prison for imprisoning a male escort and beating them with a metal chain).

I think the press just pick somebody to hate and everybody else piles on. Holly is a good target for this because she had the “Miss Perfect” image.

Vinvertebrate · 02/12/2025 19:38

Muffsies · 02/12/2025 15:13

I have always found her and Schofield to be really fake "trying too hard" types. Once Schofield got in trouble she dropped him like a stone and the pretence was over. It's quite clear that they never were friends at all and she was just livid that his behaviour negatively affected her image (which was all built on a fake relationship).

It's no loss, the pair of them were insufferable, and I'm glad we don't have to put up with all that contrived banter forced giggling any more.

Oh my lord, all of this! I so rarely watch morning TV but even I was cringing at the whole post-awards do, we’ve not been to bed, and we can’t stop giggling because we’re still drunk, aren’t we hilarious schtick. I don’t dislike her - actually felt a bit sorry for her over the scooter incident - I mean she made a terrible mistake, but stayed with the poor guy, lent her phone, apologised, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, etc.

Was queuegate really THAT bad?

I didn’t think cutting in line was on but how many men have done far far worse than cut in line and not had their popularity crash.

She didn't cut in line. They were there as reporters and were escorted straight to the press area. They didn't even file past the coffin with the public.

She's a fuddy-duddy. No-one likes a fuddy-duddy.

She’s gorgeous & lights up screen. Hence success I think.

True & hard to argue with.

What would you have done? Genuine question. Not sure what I would have done if I was her.

If I disapproved of him cheating on his wife with a teen I’d have told him so and distanced myself. If I didn’t disapprove then I’d have defended him when it became public. She did neither.

I don’t think lying about it afterwards helped.

marmaladeteal · 02/12/2025 19:51

Many years ago I had a friend who chauffeured a lot of stars. I asked him once who his most unpleasant passenger was and he said HW. I just didn’t believe him and thought he was joking, until now.
HW always seemed so sweet. It did feel uncomfortable that she dropped her friendship with Phil so cuttingly. She must have known what was going on.
A few kind words at the time would have helped her possibly, but she came across as very harsh, imo.

Glitchymn1 · 02/12/2025 19:55

I think people find it implausible that she didn’t know about Phil and his boyfriend. She then dropped him like a hot potato when it all came out. She doesn’t come across as very authentic. She’s literally everywhere even Dunelm bedding- so grabby.
Good luck to her, raking it whilst she can I guess.

But how did they queue jump if they didn’t go onto the carpeted area where the public queue was?

CoastalGrey · 02/12/2025 19:57

I didn’t think there was another talentless blonde who could be as annoying as Tess Daly but if she takes over Strictly I’ll have to rethink.

Auhdandme · 02/12/2025 20:01

333FionaG · 02/12/2025 15:32

She knocked someone off their scooter and broke their neck. That's not very wholesome.

I could give or take Holly, I don't have any feelings towards her tbh

But,

Wholesome means someone who is kind, moral, and genuinely good, exhibiting positive traits like compassion, honesty, and trustworthiness

I've only just read the article but it was a genuine accident wasn't it, she stayed with the victim until the police arrived, gave him water and admitted guilt as soon as the police arrive

She showed several wholesome traits in those interactions 🤷‍♀️

IAmKerplunk · 02/12/2025 20:03

Coconutter24 · 02/12/2025 19:57

But how did they queue jump if they didn’t go onto the carpeted area where the public queue was?

Oh I agree they didn’t queue jump - I thought the furore was because they used their positions to get into the press enclosure therefore not having to queue, for a piece/report that didn’t exist and never got shown

I think the press had started gunning for them at this point - they obviously knew what PS was up to and HW was very over exposed

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 02/12/2025 20:07

Muffsies · 02/12/2025 19:17

It was known he was gay. I was not aware it was known he was seeing someone so young, and that he'd first met that person when they were underage.

It absolutely was, even the young man's name was out there.

Freebus · 02/12/2025 20:08

The whole queue thing was ridiculous. Hw and PS were doing their jobs!

Yes Beckham chose to queue, brilliant PR on his part, but do you really think he doesn't get a massive amount of perks, tickets to sporting events, whatever concerts or shows he wants to attend ?

Wonderlandpeony · 02/12/2025 20:11

She has come across as extremely entitled and precious for years now, that's mainly why she isn't liked.

PS had also become increasingly arrogant in his presenting.

I can't imagine how anyone couldn't have found either of them intolerable to watch together on this morning. Both very entitled.

Donsyb · 02/12/2025 20:16

Flauwa · 02/12/2025 18:26

I really don’t get the queue thing. They were there in their capacity as broadcasters. Alongside other broadcasters who did exactly the same.

Not sure why anyone would queue 15 hours to walk past an old lady’s coffin in the first place. Weird.

They were not. They were not on the press list, so they should have queued alongside the general public.

If they were supposed to be there in an official capacity they should have been put on the press list.
