I mean... it's very clear poor old Vernon 'professional northerner' Kay is not the sharpest tool in even the most meagre box. But I am really fed up with him on Radio 2 constantly referring to Taylor Swift only by reference to her fiancé Travis Kelcie (an American football player for anyone that doesn't know).

He keeps doing it (today an eg) - clearly gets complaints - but dismisses these in the same misogynistic tone as "daft Taylor Swift fans". His excuse is basically, “that’s how I know her, thats my field” — as if a radio DJ somehow doesn’t know the name of the most successful artist in the world. I mean I get he has no music background and is a minor TV presenter not an actual dj but still ...

It just feels misogynistic and really derogatory. He wouldn’t talk about a male artist through the lens of who they’re dating.

It makes him look ridiculous and really grinds my gears (as a feminist rather than any particular TS super fan).

Interesting too that he focuses on the clearly less famous male partner of a very high profile woman too. Wonder why that could be....

Yeah that's really weird. Even ignoring the misogyny aspect it's just odd to announce an artist whose song you are playing via their partner. By all means throw it in as an aside once but to refer to her solely/primarily as 'Travis Kelcie's fiancee' is just bizarre.

TS has had songs played on UK radio for nearly two decades, he will have been playing them, and presumably naming her, for years before she even met TK.

I'm assuming when he plays a Jay Z record he doesn't refer to him as 'Beyonce's husband,' or Kanye West as 'Kim Kardashian's ex.'

That it is Taylor Swift is neither here nor there. I am not a particular fan. It's the fact that she is a successful woman that he insists on referring to in this way that irritates me.

I did have to read that twice before I worked out the PP meant Jezza Vine. I think a whole show of JK reading out DNA test or lie detector results live on the radio would be a step down for R2.

Very much dislike Vernon. Sleaze pest. Disappeared for years then broke through with a career relaunch after I'm a Celeb.

I like him. I’ve warmed to him. He doesn’t pretend to be what he’s not, and hes often spoken out about issues that concern women.. period pain and society’s intolerance of menstruation being one of them.

I love Jeremy Vine , aka Jeremy Kyle. Most of the rest of radio 2 presenters are pretty useless. I now prefer Radio 4 or Radio 3 with classical music .

I dont know anything about Taylor Swift, or the boyfriend and I dont listen to VK as Im at work,,,, but from what you have written it would seem blindingly obvious that he is taking the mickey.

Trevor Nelson in his daytime slot is awesome. Some different music, not my favourite genre but I quite like it, used to like his evening shows too, i find him a likeable chap.

Mills, Cox, Vine uggg. He's getting a slagging here but I can cope with sex pest Kay, but Mcguiness I struggle with, Rylan also, although apparently he's one of the nicest people in showbiz to deal with say those who I know who have dealt with him.

I like when Gary Davies covers in daytime, plus his 80s show, Fearn Cottons show too I'm a fan.
