Discussion with friends. Very heated disagreement. Unreasonable wearing knickers . Reasonable not wearing knickers

OP posts:
Nameinspirationneeded · 22/11/2025 21:20

Whatever makes you comfortable, reasonable to wear if you are happy with that.so not voting

Bundleflower · 22/11/2025 21:20

Prelim · 22/11/2025 20:43

Why did it get so heated?!

Because it couldn’t BREATH!!!!

No knickers, obviously.

I don’t wear pjs, just a top half!

Same as me, unless it’s cold like it has been this week then I’ll wear a t-shirt. Will put PJs on to lounge about the house in and in the morning but still no knickers

Satisfiedwithanapple · 22/11/2025 21:21

ohwoaw · 22/11/2025 20:52

Why do you need to air your fanny at night?

I get thrush if I don’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hohumdedum · 22/11/2025 21:22

I always said knickers in the past, and would wear PJs for quite a while before washing.

Now I'm mid-40s my skin has suddenly become really sensitive and prone to itch, so I'm totally converted to no knickers and nighties at night, and 100% silk french knickers during the day 😂

So either is acceptable imo depending on your skin type and desire to wash PJs.

Zempy · 22/11/2025 21:23

Knickers

Oohh · 22/11/2025 21:24

AMBOG · 22/11/2025 20:56

You will be shocked to know my very dirty friends don’t wear knickers and only change their pyjamas once a week!!!

Urgh!
I wear knickers because I wouldn’t want to wash PJ bottoms every day.

IfItsPink · 22/11/2025 21:25

Doggielovecharlotte · 22/11/2025 20:44

My mum always taught me to “give it some air” so no knickers for me!

Ha ha, same!

cardibach · 22/11/2025 21:25

HoppityBun · 22/11/2025 21:15

What? “Unreasonable wearing knickers. Reasonable not wearing knickers”

Those say the same thing. Both ways you’re saying no to knickers. Do you live in N Korea?

They don’t. She means if you wear knickers click unreasonable if you don’t then click reasonable.

LilacBlues · 22/11/2025 21:25

The only time I have worn knickers under pjs is in hospital.
Nothing at home.
In a hotel a nightie. Never knickers in bed.
I'm long past menopause but overheat in bed.

MaplePumpkin · 22/11/2025 21:26

Definitely no knickers and fresh pyjamas every night. I agree about air flow! Pyjamas are so much looser than having tight knickers on.

Newlysinglemumma · 22/11/2025 21:26

For bed time I wear just knickers and t shirt with pillow between legs as don’t like skin touching! But if I have had a bath and all clean I will just wear pjs no knickers until ready for bed then put just knickers on

Sunshineismyfavourite · 22/11/2025 21:27

No knickers and no PJs just a vest top for me. Over 50s surely don't wear PJs to bed?!! Way too hot and sweaty. Unless you're perhaps over 65? Hoping the menopause symptoms will have reduced by then!

BurntBroccoli · 22/11/2025 21:27

Brightbluesomething · 22/11/2025 21:09

I don’t think I own any knickers I could wear under pjs. I used to have great big maternity granny knickers after giving birth but now I only have thongs and a couple of pair of ‘suck me in knickers’ for particular outfits. I do change pjs every couple of nights though.

My mam always told me to air it at night and not to wear anything too tight as you’d overheat and get thrush. Same with socks, none at night to help regulate your temperature. Although I do have some big fluffy ones for the depths of winter.
No idea if there’s any scientific basis but I tell my DD to do the same.

I wear M & S full cotton briefs - very comfy though I am quite old!

Always worn just a t-shirt or vest plus knickers for bed and have never had thrush.

Zanatdy · 22/11/2025 21:27

I always wear knickers under PJs (never a bra)

Pricelessadvice · 22/11/2025 21:27

I also had a heated debate with friends about this a couple of years ago!
Im team knickers but the no-knicker crew got very irate about it 😂

cannynotsay · 22/11/2025 21:27

Eww wear knickers lol

Nightlight8 · 22/11/2025 21:29

ohwoaw · 22/11/2025 20:52

Why do you need to air your fanny at night?

Because people can't go around airing their fanny in the day!

I think its about what you feel comfortable doing OP neither are unreasonable.

LowShelfEsteem · 22/11/2025 21:29

Knickers absolutely. And a bra! A very soft comfortable one. Started when I was breast feeding and a bra helped tender boobs and helped with leak. Now I like to wear one to keep everything neat and secured when I move around in the night.

Stillpoor · 22/11/2025 21:29

I have to have knickers on i feel naked without them.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 22/11/2025 21:31

The knickers discussion I’m familiar with. (Team no knickers here).

But women are seriously wearing bras to bed? Surely not normal under wired things?I can maybe get if you are very large or they are sore before your period/ perimenopause or you are nursing but regular sized boobs, all the time?

Ahfiddlesticks · 22/11/2025 21:31

happysunr1se · 22/11/2025 20:49

So if u go - no knickers- to let the air get to "it", how come the air can get through PJ's if it couldn't get through knickers and what is the air doing to your butt anyway???

I don't know.

But I do know that if I wear knickers every night (plain cotton ones) I get thrush on the regular, where as if I do not, then I don't thrush.

I think if you are prone to thrush then underwear at night (being closer fitting and keeping everything all warm) can exacerbate the issue. If you aren't prone to thrusting then it makes no difference.

Gowlett · 22/11/2025 21:33

Knickers. I’ll wear the pjs more than once.
DH wears no jocks & keeps the pjs going…

Stillpoor · 22/11/2025 21:33

LowShelfEsteem · 22/11/2025 21:29

Me to i also wear a bra not a tight one but a nice soft one.
I once got told that wearing a bra to bed was disgusting, and would make my boobs sag.
20 some odd years latter id like to say my boobs are not sagging, and the old hag was wrong.

FastnetLundyRockall · 22/11/2025 21:33

No knickers, no pyjama bottoms in bed either as it’s far too hot. Absolutely should be free to air!
