To complain that my pizza wasn’t cut for me?

Spent £30 with Papa John’s. Love their pizzas. Special garlic sauce is amazing!

Anyway, they didn’t cut my pizza. AIBU to have complained through the Just Eat App?

Have been told by the cocky manager to consider buying a pizza cutter

Have them semi regularly as a treat and they’re always cut into slices, as most take away are!

H thinks I’m being silly.

Obviously this isn’t a world shattering issue, of course. But interested to see if I’m unreasonably unfair here to complain

OP posts:

Read some of the other threads on here and you'll find on the grand scheme of things that it's a minor inconvenience.

DeliciouslyBaked · 21/11/2025 21:43

The owner of Papa Johns is a massive anti-abortionist, sued the US Govt for having to provide his staff with health insurance that includes contraceptive care, and pays his employees if they want to spend time protesting outside abortion clinics. So YABU for giving any money to that company in the first place.

Cosyfridaynights · 21/11/2025 21:45

Tbf it would annoy me as we eat it straight out of the box with legs up and comfy on the sofa, I cba faffing about cutting it myself
I wouldn’t go to a huge effort to ring/email in and complain though. If it was Uber eats and they had that feedback part, I would write that quickly and be done with it

FOJN · 21/11/2025 21:45

Oh the horror of having to cut your own pizza. Thoughts and prayers.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 21/11/2025 21:46

I'm with you on this. I ordered an Indian takeaway and when it arrived they had not identified which rice was which (plain / pillau) needless to say I left a one star review and wrote to my MP.

I'd think any decent pizza place would cut their pizza. Like putting sauce or cheese it as standard.

I'd think any decent pizza place would employ fallibil humans who make the odd mistake too.

To err is human and all that.

OP, sorry but you're also wrong about the sauce, it's an abomination to garlic sauces.

Jk987 · 21/11/2025 21:48

So ridiculous to complain. Just eat the pizza.

Any decent place would be traditionally Italian and therefore not cut it!

Laura95167 · 21/11/2025 21:54

Like fedback 4 stars not 5 - lovely pizza, didnt cut up pizza which was a bit of a faff but great overall

Or like directly made a complaint to the place... because what was the point of your complaint? Were you expecting a replacement? A voucher? The manager to drive round with scissors?

The manager was cocky, but he wasnt wrong.

Cherryicecreamx · 21/11/2025 21:56

I would find it annoying to have an uncut pizza and favour those places who do cut it. I've had a couple that weren't cut but charge a fair bit and it is (mildly) irritating.
I think the manager's response is a bit unprofessional really! Shouldn't they just apologise for missing that step, keep the customer happy and all that!

Chick981 · 21/11/2025 21:56

If you’re able to cut the pizza yourself, it’s fine, though I do get the annoyance. My DH is disabled and always requests his pizza sliced when we get pizza out and it’s really annoying when they don’t listen.

dontmalbeconme · 21/11/2025 21:59

Obviously, it should have been cut, but it was a (very minor) human error. One that's unlikely to happen to you again.

It took you longer to complain than it would have taken to cut the pizza.

So why did you complain? What were you expecting them to do apart from advise you to cut your pizza (which I'm sure you could have worked out for yourself).

I presume you are a CF who was trying to get out of paying for your pizza, or to get a second pizza for free.

Halfquarterbag · 21/11/2025 22:00

Call that a takeaway problem eh… eh??

There was this one time the chip shop battered and fried a black pudding without taking the plastic skin off it.

MapLover · 21/11/2025 22:01

I remember as a teenager going out for a meal with my best friends family to an Italian restaurant. Her 12 year old brother ordered a pizza and when it arrived his face dropped as it wasn’t cut into slices. He only ever ate pizza by picking up the slices with his hands, never with a knife and fork. His grandma made the waitress take it back to the kitchen to cut it up for him. The mind boggles then as it does now when I remember it.

If this was the 90's, the equivalent would be to hand over clothes you've bought in a shop without a bag. Doesn't happen.

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · 21/11/2025 20:34

Oh dear you both really think this is the same?

Cutting a pizza is not a fundamental ingredient of a pizza.

This is like asking someone to pump up your tyres and they've forgotten to replace the dust cap. The air is still in the tyre

Cutting a pizza is not a fundamental ingredient of a pizza.

Yes it is. Comes out of the oven and then cut.

AbbeyGrange · 21/11/2025 22:11

Come on OP you can't be serious? If you are then get a fucking grip...

Notashamed13 · 21/11/2025 22:11

There is only one thing you have been unreasonable about in this post......that special garlic sauce is quite possibly the most disgusting thing in the entire.universe 😂 id most definitely complain at 30 quid for a pizza!

Lastfroginthebox · 21/11/2025 22:26

I can't believe you complained about this! Surely you've got a knife or two at home. Or scissors. Or just rip it up. Or fold the whole thing in half and bite it! If you made a pizza at home, or bought one and cooked it, you'd have to cut it yourself.

SapphireSeptember · 21/11/2025 22:30

I had pizza last night. Couldn't be arsed to cut it up so I ripped it into pieces. Was very nice. 😁

StephensLass1977 · 21/11/2025 22:31

Are you a toddler, that you need your food cutting up for you? Good God.

Katemax82 · 21/11/2025 22:32

This would annoy me. You expect a pizza to be cut ffs

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 21/11/2025 22:37

Once I ordered pizza and it never turned up and we had to physically visit the shop the next day to get a refund because they ignored all the calls

That's a real pizza problem

Hesma · 21/11/2025 23:16

You buy pizza on the busiest night if the week and are incensed by a simple oversight… what a knob!
