To complain that my pizza wasn’t cut for me?

Spent £30 with Papa John’s. Love their pizzas. Special garlic sauce is amazing!

Anyway, they didn’t cut my pizza. AIBU to have complained through the Just Eat App?

Have been told by the cocky manager to consider buying a pizza cutter

Have them semi regularly as a treat and they’re always cut into slices, as most take away are!

H thinks I’m being silly.

Obviously this isn’t a world shattering issue, of course. But interested to see if I’m unreasonably unfair here to complain

Halfquarterbag · 21/11/2025 21:02

This is the cutted pizza thread.

forgotmyusername1 · 21/11/2025 21:03

What did you want them to do with your complaint?

Say it will never happen again
Send a staff member round with a pizza cutter to cut it for you
Give you a refund
Send a free cut pizza?

What was your complaint trying to achieve and what did you want them to do to rectify the error?

It’s one of those teeny tiny niggles that bothering to mention in a review makes you look like a dick.

It really does.

Yanbu id be pissed of to papa johns is expensive i expect it to come ready to eat out the box you shouldn't have to mess about cutting it up yourself

I agree.

if I spend silly money on a pizza I want it edible from the sofa
i am not messing around with pizza wheels or scissors - as mentioned upthread! 🤯

TheChosenTwo · 21/11/2025 21:04

It was clearly an oversight but it’s annoying!
we have a nice Italian place near us that do pizzas for delivery too and they don’t cut them.
I rarely order from them because if I’m getting a takeaway I cba to go to the hassle of washing up a chopping board - I’ve tried cutting pizzas in boxes and it just cuts the cardboard box and makes a bloody mess!
So I can see why it’s annoying but I also wouldn’t have complained because it was an oversight, places like papa johns etc do usually slice them for you - they are often sold by slice size!

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 21/11/2025 21:05

I would find this annoying. Most of the time it wouldn’t be an issue but I’ve ordered pizza when I haven’t had kitchen access before of not needing anything from the kitchen or to work when staying late.

Tunnocksmallow · 21/11/2025 21:05

Jesus fucking wept.
This is the most #firstworldproblem post ever!!
How do you function in the real world?

You realise your address is now marked don’t you? And you will forever be THAT customer. Carefully check future orders 😂😂

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 21/11/2025 21:07

I’m with you OP, I would be peeved if this happened to me!

No chance of getting a refund from Papa Johns if it's a valid complaint let alone for something like this. I've boycotted them ever since they refused to refund me when they delivered my pizza over an hour late and stone cold.

LunarEclipser · 21/11/2025 21:08

Surely if you have no cutting implements in your home, you can just tear it apart with your hands? It’s pizza!

I’m still waiting 12 years later for a bottle of coke they missed off my order and the delivery driver would be right back with 😅

nomas · 21/11/2025 21:11

I think you were angling for a second free pizza.

My DH does this, complains about a small issue and gets a free pizza. I tell him it's not fair.

Lunde · 21/11/2025 21:11

Where I live pizzas are never cut. Somehow we manage with a kitchen knife.

Alongthetowpath · 21/11/2025 21:15

I think this is annoying. I would generally only order take away pizza to eat outside the home, - if we were staying late at the park or beach,or I was at work or something, so wouldn’t have access to any knives or pizza cutters etc.

Takeaway food should be able to be eaten straight out of the box imo, and personally I think they should have given you money off or discount for the future or something, as it’s not as described.

DiscontentedPig · 21/11/2025 21:16

There was a guy calling himself "Captain Angle Grinder" who went around cutting off wheel clamps.

This looks like a job for Captain Pizza Cutter.

Lonelycrab · 21/11/2025 21:17

Pizza, like life..

Is better kept un cut. Cut it to your own personal preferences.

JoWilkinsonsno1fan · 21/11/2025 21:20

There are no words really!!
I am with your DH and the Manager!!

lifeonmars100 · 21/11/2025 21:20

If this is the worst thing that has happened to you this week then I am eaten up, not with uncut pizza but with envy. I would have been taken aback for all of 10 seconds and then grabbed my sharp and trusty kitchen scissors and got stuck in. I am guessing it tasted as good as it always does

MySilentLions · 21/11/2025 21:20

Weeken · 21/11/2025 20:44

It should have been ready to eat. You might not have had any utensils where you'd ordered the food to and you can't very well be expected to lift and bite into the entire thing.

Pretty sure if the alternative was no dinner, I’d manage the onerous and highly difficult task of lifting a pizza and biting it.

Moonlightfrog · 21/11/2025 21:20

People make mistakes…we are all human. Is it such a big deal that in a busy Saturday night someone (who’s probably getting paid minimum wage) messed up and forgot to cut your pizza?

Eenameenadeeka · 21/11/2025 21:21

It's a minor annoyance but not enough to bother complaining, as it doesn't make the food any different. If they forgot the cheese or something it's different but it doesn't ruin your dinner so I wouldn't complain

Fold in half, shove in gob.

Job’s a good ‘un.

MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend · 21/11/2025 21:23

But now you've not only had the huge issue of having to cut up your pizza, you've spent ages complaining, writing on here and reading all the replies. I honestly don't know how you get through life if you make such a song and dance about such tiny trivialities.

TrippingOverMyAssets · 21/11/2025 21:24

I don’t think it would even enter my mind to make a complaint that my pizza wasn’t cut. I’d just think oh that’s odd, then get a knife from the kitchen and cut it myself. Would you like them to feed it to you as well?
