To complain that my pizza wasn’t cut for me?

YourBluntAnt · 21/11/2025 20:13

Spent £30 with Papa John’s. Love their pizzas. Special garlic sauce is amazing!

Anyway, they didn’t cut my pizza. AIBU to have complained through the Just Eat App?

Have been told by the cocky manager to consider buying a pizza cutter

Have them semi regularly as a treat and they’re always cut into slices, as most take away are!

H thinks I’m being silly.

Obviously this isn’t a world shattering issue, of course. But interested to see if I’m unreasonably unfair here to complain

It should have been cut. I think OP was deserving of a goodwill gesture at least. Either a partial refund or a £10 voucher for next time.

forthegoodandthebad · 21/11/2025 21:25

Please don’t complain

i worked in dominoes when I was in uni and accidentally didn’t cut a pizza due to it being so busy and the pizza before it was gluten free so needed to be cut with a different cutter. This meant it would go to another person to cut and I just forgot I had already passed a pizza on and just passed it on. Clearly the checker didn’t check well either and it was sent out. Somebody complained and me and the checker both had a talking too infront of everyone which is hard for someone quiet like me

People would actually cut their pizza with scissors in this scenario?

Wow.

Perfectly reasonable solution. Kitchen scissors cut pizza (and bacon) really well.

There was nothing wrong with the pizza, it was edible, why should she get £10?
when you get a pizza in a restaurant it’s never cut, you have to cut it yourself. It’s not a huge issue.

A goodwill gesture or a tenner for the trauma task of having to cut her own pizza?! 😆

Running the country is definitely the job for those with blemished work histories lol

But on reflection, you are right. It is a mistake. And an easy one to make that is essentially harmless

Feel a bit bad as the usual delivery man is sweet as pie to me and always so polite

You know the delivery man has nothing to do with the cutting of the pizza, right?

And post a shitty review, and slag them off on MN.

That’s a lot of work… <tiny violin>

Doggielovecharlotte · 21/11/2025 21:28

I agree with you and think the manager was rude

they could have said “apologies, thanks for letting us know. Please know that you can use a sharp knife, enjoy!”

Yeah but that’s when it’s in front of you with a knife and fork and plate

Delivery box pizzas are usually for sharing

I think it’s an inconvenience and worth a mention

I don’t often comment on posts I just lurk but my Nan couldn’t cut pizza (issues with her hands and steadiness) but she loved it and had it often and once her pizza came uncut this was from a local kebab shop so not a chain and she called them and they sent someone round with a pizza cutter and did it for her. No issues on their end they were really apologetic. I know this isn’t the case for you but I voted YANBU because this kind of thing can really impact someone

Lurkingforalaugh · 21/11/2025 21:32

Fml thank god I’m out of hospitality when nearly 30% of people have voted you are being reasonable!?!? The only unreasonable thing about this post is they the op thought it was reasonable to complain about this, absolute melt

It's part of the service that you pay for.

TwistedWonder · 21/11/2025 21:34

I’d be a bit peeved but to make a complaint makes you look a complete twat. You'll definitely be on the list

HellsBells13 · 21/11/2025 21:35

In the time it took you to call and have a conversation about it, you could have sliced the pizza. What a waste of time and energy.

OonaStubbs · 21/11/2025 21:36

You might as well say someone shouldn't complain if they sent the pizza uncooked, as the recipient could just put it in the oven for a few minutes and still eat it. The service you are paying for is to have the pizza prepared, cooked, cut into slices and delivered ready to eat. If any one of those processes is missed, it isn't the full service that you have paid for.

Ap42 · 21/11/2025 21:37

Is this actually a real life problem?! 🤣

That’s what’s wrong with mainstream hospitality in UK

if we are in UK..

Exactly if im spending time in the kitchen and causing washing up i might as well buy a pizza from a supermarket for a quid and put it in the oven. If im spending £30 i absolutely want my pizza cutting

Nameinspirationneeded · 21/11/2025 21:38

It would make a difference to me as I can’t cut things up (disability, you need to part of the pizza still while using scissors or knife <bitter experience>)

yabu though I wouldn’t complain. At home I’d just manage, no one can see me.

I don’t even complain when I specifically request in restaurants (not just pizza, things like meat) I just ask the person I’m with to cut. with people I don’t know well or on my own I don’t order stuff that needs cutting. If they forget it’s just cold by the time they take it back to the kitchen
