Has everyone forgotten Jonathan Ross and Sachsgate?

I love traitors but i detest Jonathon Ross. I clearly remember his vile phone calls to Andrew Sachs about his grandaughter. Along with his accomplice Russel Brand - vile, laddish behaviour. How is he even still working? Does he have mates in high places - people's careers have gone under for much less.
Also he makes my skin crawl and is ruining a damn good show.

Clearly some family members on the board 😅
Or one person who simply cannot comprehend how many women clearly dislike this man, for his shows, behaviour and actions.

Yes, everyone on here who is defending JR/not saying nasty things about him, is one of his family members. Couldn't possibly be random individual people posting, who don't know him, who don't know each other, and are just posting things about him that are not negative! 🙄

Give me strength.

May as well say you people berating him and saying he should have been hung, drawn, and quartered, are Andrew Sachs family! FFS!

AbsentosaurusRex · 18/10/2025 22:03

A few misogynists this year. At least one has gone already.. Tom Daley.

Stephen Fry
Jonathan Ross

All 3, misogynistic vomit. 🤢

FirstCuppa · 18/10/2025 22:03

The votes say otherwise. But carry on defending a slimey man you don't know if that's what you want to do with your Saturday night.

FuzzyWolf · 18/10/2025 22:04

PrancingBean · 18/10/2025 21:18

But imagine if I, a lowly retail worker, had called a customer and done this? I’m also lovely to my wife and children (baseline decency btw.) I have never given Alan Carr a break because I work at Sainsburys. I’m kind and generous. I donate to several charities out of my minimum wage. Can I do whatever I like?

But if you did and lost your job over it, would you expect to never ever be allowed to work again (for another company, but still in retail) because of it?

BatchCookBabe · 18/10/2025 22:04

Violinist64 · 18/10/2025 21:07

It was a particularly vile "prank" played by two men who were old enough to know better. It was not only Georgina who was seriously damaged by it but her grandparents, too. Andrew Sachs and his wife were elderly and never really got over the shock of this nasty, distasteful incident. I believe they were never truly well after that. Both men should have been sacked on the spot. I have always avoided watching anything with either of them in it ever since.

Do you have a single scrap of evidence to back this up?

!

ohdearmemummy · 18/10/2025 22:04

His clothes make me laugh

MyBoldGreyPoet · 18/10/2025 22:05

mumofoneAloneandwell · 18/10/2025 19:57

I mean, sexist comments about a woman usually go completely unpunished (especially back then!) so her being related to Andrew sachs meant justice was served 🤷‍♀️ and their show was cancelled

People in the media do far worse than that, even today, so I can let it go

You should watch some of Russell Howard's older stand up. And the first season of Would I Lie To You, i had a shock when I watched that, omg

Edited

Don't you mean Russell Brand, not Howard?

BatchCookBabe · 18/10/2025 22:06

PrincessSophieFrederike · 18/10/2025 21:11

I do agree he shouldn't be shunned by those who know him. I won't ever watch him, but that's different.

I do think it being a 'joke' on live TV makes a difference though.

It wasn't on live TV.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 18/10/2025 22:07

Russell Brand has become a Christian in a big way now, he got baptised by Bear Grills!

OwlBeThere · 18/10/2025 22:08

Greedybilly · 18/10/2025 20:09

@OwlBeThere-- but that doesn't make his behaviour right though does it? Should we all move on about every other pervert that works on tv? Erm...no.

I didn’t say it did, but i can’t get that upset about it either. I also don’t think he’s a ‘pervert’. He made stupid jokes about RB shagging the grand daughter, that hardly makes him a pervert, just a tool.
I think you are being very melodramatic tbh.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 18/10/2025 22:09

I haven’t. I haven’t listened to or watched him since.

BatchCookBabe · 18/10/2025 22:10

Sagaciously · 18/10/2025 21:12

I have forgotten about the silly prank calls incident, like most people in rl.

This. ^ Imagine feeling the need to drag something up from nearly 2 decades ago, that was dealt with at the time, and has been dead and buried since the noughties, and posting a thread about it!

The OP must be really bored tonight. 😆

mydogisthebest · 18/10/2025 22:11

I am not related to Jonathan but I like him. I loved his radio show as did DH and was upset when it ended.

I find him interesting and intelligent. I would far rather have a conversation with him than Stephen Fry. I also think he has a good sense of humour.

Sorry of that offends all the saintly haters here

Bikergran · 18/10/2025 22:12

I've always found him revolting and creepy, and no, I haven't forgotten.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/10/2025 22:13

PrancingBean · 18/10/2025 21:50

Oh, I think I’d be the subject of a furious AIBU? thread at the very least.

Nearly 20 years later?🤯

I doubt it.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 18/10/2025 22:14

BatchCookBabe · 18/10/2025 21:51

She was cleared of any charges of racism. But don't let facts get in the way eh?!

Fart Eww GIF by The Great British Bake Off

But the woman maintained that she racially abused her, along with violently attacking her because she tried to stop her stealing the lollipops she was selling

This isnt the same as the JR thing at all and is disgusting

OwlBeThere · 18/10/2025 22:15

OnlyOnAFriday · 18/10/2025 20:23

She was 16 when they met though. He may have been 26 rather than 30 but at her age that’s a big age gap. But guess it must have been love as they’re still together aren’t they?

Yes it is. So there isn’t any need to try and make it sound bigger by saying he was ‘almost 30’. By that logic she was ‘almost 20’. It doesn’t make sense

mumofoneAloneandwell · 18/10/2025 22:15

MyBoldGreyPoet · 18/10/2025 22:05

Noo I mean Russell Howard! Some of his old stand up was shockingly sexist and nasty to women!

If he can rebrand, so can Jonathan Ross tbh

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 18/10/2025 22:15

mumofoneAloneandwell · 18/10/2025 21:02

Well i'm glad you brung it up cos Ive been dying to talk about it!

I remember one of Russell Howard's sexist rants about childhood obesity being along the lines of:

'One woman said her kid doesnt want eat healthy food - well i think "ban your fanny until you can control what comes out of it"'

And another - 'there's a group of hens, all wearing velor trousers bejewelled with words like 'sexy' or 'nice arse'. Then there's their one fat friend who has 'nice eyes' written on them, bahahahaha'

Just nasty stuff. Hes since rebranded but the North remembers.

Edited

Russell Howard pushed in front of me in a queue once and then proceeded to speak VERY loudly so that everyone knew who he was.

It may have been over 15 years ago but I also don't forget!

Showoff See GIF by HULU

See - quite the nasty little prick back then!

BigFishLittleFishy · 18/10/2025 22:18

Completely agree! What does he have over tv producers to keep giving him prime tv roles?!

I’d rather defend someone than make up baseless shit. He made the phone call. We all agree it was appalling. That is pretty much the only fact.

You can almost hear the salivating at calling him a pervert, making up memories of how he was awful to Charlotte Church, that he didn’t apologise to Georgina, that it was on live TV, that Sachs was a holocaust survivor (he wasn’t), that he was ‘almost 30’ when he met his wife. All untrue.

You're the one defending a stranger on your Sat night despite hundreds of women saying they don't like him while you try to shut them all up.

Raquelos · 18/10/2025 22:24

Yeah, life goes on. He did something stupid and unpleasant a few years ago, which garnered some truly hysterical overreactions, nicely inflamed by those sections of the press that enjoy moral high-ground type feeding frenzies on celebrities. I wasn't very impressed by what he did at the time, but it was all very overhyped imo. I haven't seen a repetition of that behaviour, so I got over it. I quite like JR's TV personality; he's entertaining, and I think he's pretty good value in Traitors (although surely he must get rumbled soon).

I really can't be arsed with this, condemn for all time attitude for people I don't know personally tbh, (I make an exception for the sex pests), for a start, I could never keep track of all of the dickhead celebrity behaviour over the years.

Stephen Fry, on the other hand, is both dull and overpimped by everyone in there. I really find their weird, awestruck treatment of him quite odd. I really don't see any evidence of his much vaunted massive brain; he's just got a posh accent with a good memory and a tendency to drop quotes from the classics. I have yet to see any original thought from him tbh.

Puppylucky · 18/10/2025 22:25

Calling out lies is not the same as shutting women (or men for that matter) up.
