Repulsive perfumes

I like natural fragrances, like the scent of lavender, some essential oils etc. But for some reason artificial scents like in washing powder and perfumes make me want to gag. They really unsettle me. What's that all about?

YABU - I smell gorgeous when I put three cups of fabric softener in the machine, and adorn myself with a bath of duty-free spoils.

YANBU - People overdo fragrances, they are tacky and make me want to gag too.

I've just received my ebay purchase of a vintage chanel no 5 edp, it's glorious but just a tiny dab on the wrist or I'd gag myself. I used to loathe no 5, is it age?

Perfume repulses me. As does perfumed washing powder and softner. Vile stuff.

I think I like a lot of ‘marmite’ perfumes:

  • Gucci by Gucci
  • Halfeti by Penhaligons
  • Obsession by Calvin Klein
  • Black Opium by YSL

They’re all quite strong and of a type; I can’t be doing with grassy/fresh type scents.

I had a boyfriend in high school who wore Obsession for men and I absolutely loved it, so years later in a fit of nostalgia I bought myself a bottle of Obsession for women and I couldn’t believe it was supposed to be a women’s version of the same thing, it smelled utterly vile (in my opinion)
