Do you think you could get away with it?

Doubt it.
But I tell my dh to be very worried if he spots a big hole and I come home with a pig from market 😂 (we live on a farm, so it wouldn't be unusual to come home with a random animal in tow)

Although you'd have to have a hard heart and a strong stomach to watch/know the pig was eating a body.

You'd also need to take the teeth out first. Forensics can't get DNA from bone shards that pass through a pig but they can get enough DNA from teeth to identify who it was, so you'd want to take those out and dispose of them separately.

herbalteabag · 07/10/2025 07:56

No, it would be hard to escape forensic and technical detection these days, and I'm not a big details person so I'd definitely get caught.

TulipCat · 07/10/2025 07:57

I think you'd have to murder someone who had lots of enemies, so loads of suspects with motives. Especially if the other suspects were also wrong 'uns.

Yes - you have to go no comment, and it has to be a proper "no comment" to everything, no matter how sorely you are tempted to answer some of the questions

Researching methods would be tricky. You can't have it on your Google history or have mentioned it on an anonymous forum!

You can go to an internet cafe and search that way, leaving your phone at home.

Or maybe use a burner phone that you then chuck in the river.

Ponoka7 · 07/10/2025 07:58

As said by a pp, I could only now do it if one of my GC were SA/killed. I'd risk six years on a all inclusive at HMP. But then I'd rather inflict life changing injuries. Watching the news last night, a man got for years for fraud and eighteen months for child sexual offences, I'd struggle to live with that if it involved a child in the family.

reversegear · 07/10/2025 08:01

I always think when people just go “missing” they are likely murdered. I don’t think I’d be able to keep it to myself, I’d have a few wines and start chatting and say ohhh you never guess what I did last week.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 07/10/2025 08:02

No, as I'm very bad at lying. I cannot tell the smallest lie convincingly. 🙊

A brief google suggests around 600 murders per year in the UK with approximately 60 being unsolved. So, someone’s getting away with it.

After that google search you won’t get away with it now!

SonicBoomInTheRoom · 07/10/2025 08:10

Appear on Hollyoaks. They get away with it all the time.

We've all seen the films where a herd of pigs scoffs down a baddie quick smart, but how long would a single porker take to eat a human? I think you're gonna need a bigger pigsty.

elgreco · 07/10/2025 08:24

Get a second pig to eat first pig

CautiousLurker01 · 07/10/2025 08:24

My DH and I discuss this at various points - I am a PhD student specialising in crime fiction, not a latent sociopath, just to clarify. And we have worked out that given the way our phones can be tracked and the fact that all our neighbours have ring/other brand security systems after a spate of break-ins the last few years, we couldn’t even get away with popping some excess rubbish in a neighbour’s bin on bin-day, let alone murder.

I think that why there are so many cold case crime series now. Murder was so easy before surveillance and phone tracking…

Laiste · 07/10/2025 08:24

Oooooh i think about this all the time ! (well not ALL the time ... but a lot when bored, driving ect) Great thread idea OP

Have t read thread yet - bbl

Yes. I’m a nurse in the community so I reckon I could. I would never want to though.

My son's bedroom?

Gallivant · 07/10/2025 08:30

I'd prefer the pass-agg method of driving someone to suicide.

PreciousTatas · 07/10/2025 08:31

I'm guessing I wouldn't.

Because I would never kill a stranger unprovoked, the only way I think I could be enraged enough to take a life is if someone had seriously hurt one of my children.

So it would be fairly obvious who did it.

HeadsWinTailsLose · 07/10/2025 08:33

Hit them with a car as the sentences for death by dangerous driving are pitiful.

An elderly relative once shocked us all by coming out with what she had wanted to do with the man who attacked her as a child.

She said she had fantasies of becoming a medical professional, tracking him down and removing his genitals, hands, feet and eyes but making sure he lived.

Its a shame she never found him.

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 07/10/2025 08:35

I don't know. Never really thought about it ...until now 🤔 😆

My son's bedroom?

That could work. Hard to isolate random DNA in a soup of DNA.

Edited to add: I am not a forensic anything. It may be easy as pie for all I know.

AbstractReflections · 07/10/2025 08:44

In this day and age I wonder how many murders will be solved because murderers have asked ChatGPT "how to get away with murder" or similar. I bet loads!

TessTickle0 · 07/10/2025 08:46

I struggle with accidentally killing an insect, so I simply couldn't! Or is that what I want everyone to believe??
