Which changes in a product you’d liked have been the worst?

Just bought some Huggies wet wipes for the first time in a while. I use them to take makeup off, and they are the only wet wipe that are really effective. They’re thick and somehow really remove the dirt well. But they’ve changed and are now utterly, utterly shite. They’re thin and remove nothing. Why oh why do they do this? Do they not test the product in manufacturing and think ‘this is obviously a shit move’? So frustrating.

See also Ribena. Used to be a great occasional drink to soothe a sore throat, now it tastes of nothing but chemicals. Why do that?

Surely no one will buy the new Huggies Wet wipes? Surely only 10% of the old Ribena buyers still buy. What is the sense in this commercially?

Pretty much every food and drink ever but shout out to roses and quality street. Utter carnage of my memories when I see the stupid little fuckers now.

TimetoGetUpNow · 04/10/2025 20:29

Twiglets.

Pricelessadvice · 04/10/2025 20:30

Animal biscuits (Cadburys?)
It used to be that lovely white, slightly vanilla flavour biscuit and now it’s a horrible brown, tasteless biscuit. Yuk.

Vonniee7 · 04/10/2025 20:30

All the changes to add artificial sweeteners to food and drink since the sugar tax. In particular Sprite and Irn Bru.

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 04/10/2025 20:35

Cadbury dairy milk. No other chocolate tastes as Cadbury’s used to, I loved it.

I actually feel quite sad that the younger people won’t ever get to taste it’s deliciousness. Sad

NamelessNancy · 04/10/2025 20:36

The why is presumably always cost cutting. Rubbish though.

emerald1981 · 04/10/2025 20:38

I used to love Ribena but they have completely ruined it by adding sweeteners. Same with Lemon Fanta. The only canned/bottled
fizzy drink without sweeteners now is full fat coke. Even standard Pepsi has sweeteners. Really annoys me.

TheExcitersblowingupmymind · 04/10/2025 20:42

There was something very comforting about a cup of hot Ribena as a kid when you were ill and it wasn't bought very often same as a big bottle of lucozade with the wrapping on the bottle.
70s kid memories.

I treated myself to some party rings the other day. I don’t remember them tasting of cardboard 😒

But if it’s so bad nobody buys it, they’re not going to make any money

I loved Cadbury’s. I don’t like posh chocolate and that 85%stuff actually makes me retch.

But no one believes me. I tell my children not to waste their money on Hotel Chocolat but they insist on buying that stuff. There’s nothing like the original Cadbury’s.

saveforthat · 04/10/2025 20:45

Wagon Wheels or Curlywurly. Both have shrunk ridiculously.

AnAudacityofinlaws · 04/10/2025 20:46

Twinings decaff Earl Grey tea. Used to be perfect, now tastes like petrol.

GellerYeller · 04/10/2025 20:46

Galaxy chocolate, Lucozade, and Body Shop Hemp hand cream. All a shadow of their fabulous former selves.
While we’re at it, Jelly Tots should still be flat. And put the raspberry flavour Fruit Gums back in, Rowntree. In boxes. I thank you.
Edited for spelling!

ShuffleOn · 04/10/2025 20:46

Nivea soft moisturiser was my favourite for years then they changed the formula to be vegan. I get why they did it but I had to stop using it in my face as it didn’t feel as hydrating, my skin even felt a bit dry & tight after using😩

fiorentina · 04/10/2025 20:47

Cauldron vegetarian sausages. I have no idea what they did to them or why!

Sure, but what if all the competition is also cost cutting? Quality of everything goes down and people will still buy. Even if there is an overall reduction in sales if the costs are cut enough they could still see increased profits.

YouForgotToTurnItOff · 04/10/2025 20:47

Agree with Ribena.
Cadbury's as is oft mentioned on here.
Caramac is absolutely vile now.
Jammy Dodgers.
Fairly sure NikNaks/MonsterMunch are blander than they used to be too.

Anyone know where all the dark chocolate oranges went? I can only ever find milk chocolate in the shops and it's far too sweet!

In a way it's a good thing as none of these are good for me. They do it to cut costs and make more profit which is the real joke.

SixSeven · 04/10/2025 20:49

I’m not happy today with my new Dove stick deodorant, the blue one. What have they done?!

Also Cadburys, a bloody travesty selling out to an American company. However, the huge 850g bar still seems to taste like the olden days. £11 on Amazon, you are welcome.

Lampzade · 04/10/2025 20:51

Lucozade
Twix
Fairy Liquid
Mars bars
Digestives Milk chocolate biscuits
Ribena

MidnightPatrol · 04/10/2025 20:51

Metanium.

Devastating.

powershowerforanhour · 04/10/2025 20:52

All the food and drink that has palm oil and sweeteners now.

Block Philadelphia was good, the tub stuff isn't.

Arrrrrrragghhh · 04/10/2025 20:52

Vue cinemas are cheap lovely seats with swivel tables for drinks. I think cinemas are better now.

Food delivery?

PixelatedLunchbox · 04/10/2025 20:55

Doritos Spicy Cheese Nachos — they cut the salt and fat and ruined them. Angry
