In the wake of the tragic events that took place in Manchester, I want to implore people not to lose steam or, more importantly, hope.

Gaza is still facing destruction, famine and genocide.

We need to continue to peacefully pressure our government to take action and sanction the Israeli government and to educate and inform people about the horrors faced by the Palestinian people day in and day out for the last two years.

People who opposed the liberation of Palestine want for this to be a turning point. For people to point the finger at a movement that wants to see the end of the suffering of millions and label it as inciting hate.

It's not.
And it's important.

Please don't put down your passion for Gaza.

Indeed, they just don't get it at all. If only the "pro Palestine " mob would put their signs down and get a basic education and research the history of the area.

Get on a plane then and piss off to Gaza and protest there.

I completely agree with you. Today, though, I think the Jewish community of the UK need the empathy and support of their countrymen and women. A clear demonstration of that would be a postponement.

This argument should be Israel verses Palestine not Jews versus Muslims as there are Muslim, Christian and Jewish Palestinians living in Palestine...

Israel is a tiny little country surrounded by hostile states. All it wants to do is exist and live in peace contributing to many areas such as medicine, technology etc and we have people wanting them destroyed using the term zionism as an insult. No one seems to call out the horrific genocides occurring in muslim countries, but when Israel is invaded with children and women mutilated we hear " free Palestine" - a terrorist state which murders, tortures and rapes indiscriminately

When nazi Germany invaded the west many innocent German people were caught up in the bombings - it's called war not genocide. Israel could flatten Palestine like a pancake overnight if it wanted to as a nuclear armed country but it attempts to target Hamas - yes innocents are affected but it isn't intentional or genocide. Palestine is DELIBERATELY targeting women and children you vile ghouls.

Anger to who though? Why should an innocent Jewish man be murdered because someone is angry with a war in another country?

Israel had effectively turned Gaza into an open air prison. They had been occupying more and more land on Gaza and the West bank for decades. Children had been indiscriminately killed by Israel for years before October 7th. In fact in the week leading upto October 7th, 84 people were forced out of their land - the UN condemned this action.
Between 2008 and 2023, 4000 Palestinians Were killed by Israel. Strikes were carried out on schools and hospitals repeatedly.

So it is possible to engage with a process of traditional land reclamation and recognition without trying to do it by force with suicide bombings, car rammings, shootings, stabbings, firing thousands of missiles for years, beheadings, deliberately maximising the deaths and suffering of the very people you claim to be fighting for, slaughtering families in kibbutzes and massacring people at a music festival and taking hostages? In 2006 Israel pulled its citizens out of Gaza and left it to Hamas, they have since run a pretty poor show for their people looking to terrorism rather than looking after its citizens, so the world aid did that for them. Hamas are no good for anyone really.

Israel has the right to exist and for its people to live safely — for me that’s not in dispute. But Palestinians also have that same right, which has been systematically denied for decades through occupation, settlement expansion, military control, and displacement. Wanting Palestinian rights recognised isn’t the same as “wanting Israel destroyed.”

Criticism of political Zionism — the policies and practices of the Israeli state (particularly this current Israeli coalition led by the most morally upright President)— isn’t the same as antisemitism. Many Jewish people themselves criticise Zionism as it’s been applied by the Israeli government. Opposing apartheid, occupation, or ethnic cleansing doesn’t equate to hating Jewish people.

Atrocities in countries like Syria, Yemen, and Sudan have rightly been widely condemned by human rights groups and international media. Acknowledging Palestinian suffering doesn’t erase other tragedies — people are capable of caring about multiple injustices at once. These wars/atrocities/conflicts do not get called a genocide as it doesn’t meet the legal definition.

When thousands of civilians — especially children — are being killed in a besieged, blockaded area with nowhere safe to go, it crosses the line from “war” to crimes against humanity. Many international legal experts, UN officials, and human rights bodies have said the scale and nature of Israel’s actions in Gaza meets the definition of genocide. Intent matters — but so does disproportionate force and collective punishment.

Hamas have committed war crimes — there’s no question about that. But conflating all Palestinians with Hamas is inaccurate and dangerous. Most Palestinians are civilians who want to live freely and safely, not participants in violence.

There is a massive power imbalance - Israel is one of the most militarily advanced countries on earth, backed by billions in U.S. aid. Palestinians, meanwhile, live under occupation and blockade. Saying “Israel could wipe them out but doesn’t” isn’t a moral defense — it underscores how asymmetrical the situation is. And Israel does not need to have all Palestinians murdered for that to be a genocide - look at the example of Bosnia where under 10,000 boys/men were murdered a this was a genocide.
