Fucking flags

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Proud to be born in England. Makes me happy seeing them :) why shouldn't they be every here. Other countries have them up 🤷‍♀️

But you are in England, why would you have to assert that? It doesn't make sense. I know how you might answer this, but it still doesn't make sense.

Yaxley-Lennon is one of the "brains" (I use that term loosely) behind the campaign, along with other far right criminals.

I guess they are giving the hard left thugs a run for their money. They've got way to go before they are whacked on a proscribed terrorist list.

PandoraSocks · 09/09/2025 15:59

Pippadeck · 09/09/2025 15:56

Doesn't bother me in the slightest, I have far bigger problems in my life to worry about a few flags as does the country as a whole.

Yes, bigger problems such as the rise of the far right who are behind the flag flying campaign.

There's nothing stopping you from cutting them down, is there? Is there a reason you've brought your frustrations here? Oh wait ...

There are two grubby sad looking ones in a nearby street. If I could reach them I would cut them down.

Ask France, Germany, Spain, etc why they assert their nationalism. Nah, we won't bother to do that. Good old white Englanders - the easy target. 🥱 must find my paracetamol.

Not analogous one bit. In fact, that's a fucking insult to Jews, but you know that.

Edited

No, where I live there have been have been pro-Palestine protests that have deliberately gone through residential Jewish areas to intimidate the area, deliberately waving the flag to spout racism.

They're definitely anti people coming into the country which is pretty much the same thing

How do you know this? Have you asked every person who has done it?

Uricon2 · 09/09/2025 16:01

I wish we could fly the Union and St George's flags the way the Scots can fly the saltire and the Welsh theirs. First one and then the other have become hijacked and loaded by association with views many of us do not hold and are seen as more about division than unity.

I also think people who are using them for racist purposes would be very disappointed by the origins of the figure most likely to be the basis for St George. Very far from white Anglo Saxon.

I’m really not understanding the reference to medals and gold stars. Why are you trying to suggest I’m after some sort of reward simply for noticing and disliking blatant racism?

I don’t object to the flag. Love to see it on VE Day, sports events and so on.

Object to it being spray painted onto roundabouts in racist protest. HTH.

I think @xmaspud3 probably loves it because many of those fascists are anti Muslim rather than anti semites at the moment, but that can change in a heartbeat and they'll soon change their tune.

Some people like em, some people don’t. Hey ho.
What else is new to clutch pearls over and get anxiety about?

It’s not clutching pearls to hate disgusting, thick racists.

Totally agree op. The gammony Reform voters can get to fuck! They don’t represent the decent people of my country. Absolutely shameful!!

Chocolateismylovelife · 09/09/2025 16:02

Dangermoos · 09/09/2025 15:50

Is that analogy meant to be coherent? Are you saying a young girl shouldn't be able to represent her heritage during a dedicated school event?

Again, how is it Britishness to wear a flag? It’s just as British to wear fish and chips.

I don’t know about the girl you mention but at my kids school- culture day is about just that, culture. Flags are banned for all.

endcityspawner · 09/09/2025 16:02

ilovesooty · 09/09/2025 15:57

A lamp post is public property and no one should be putting unofficial flags on it. It's not the same as choosing to put one in your garden. I've reported the road sign near me crudely vandalised with red paint.

The ones on motorways make me laugh because they’re outraged when councils remove them. They’d be the first to moan if the wind flew a flag across their windscreen.

Nope - they are definitely not the same thing. The fact that you think they are is quite telling

Yours are certainly doing the sneery left stereotype much service.

Ooh, how edgy. I guess we don't need to give a bollocks what you think. 🤷
