Fucking flags

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

There are no flags in the street I live in, the town however, is covered in them.
I don't mind the Union Jack but the St George's cross does make me think hooligan or racist. Probably from working in an estate pub when I was 18 for a few years.

People keep saying this but which countries have flags tied to lamp posts with cable ties or hanging out of their windows?

I’m from Latvia and many town streets are lined with flags all year round. To celebrate independence we bake cakes in the shape and colours of flags. All sorts of salads and desserts arranged in colours of the flag with fruit and vegetables. Many part take in traditional costume throughout the year, national days etc. Flags on cars, flag car air fresheners, supermarkets sell all types of flag and country symbol candles, homewares, merchandise etc. It’s been like that for the last 30 years - a bit like British supermarkets when the footballs on and everyone’s wailing about it coming home. And with migrants arriving now in Latvia a lot of people don’t like it, because they don’t assimilate with the culture. And in a country we’re independence is recent, it feels like a threat. Especially as there’s already ethnic Russians who don’t assimilate, even though they are white. Russians already diluted the ethnicity of the population with the arrival of USSR, they don’t want anyone else jeopardising their culture and country.

Predictable and weak. Unoriginality is oozing from every pore. I'm joining my mate out of here x

endcityspawner · 09/09/2025 16:06

I think it’s a sad life to hate others for simply existing but hey.

So let’s get this straight; you love division and hatred and would be happy to see a civil war? How deeply unnerving.

I don't think you've quite grasped the wider picture which kind of makes you look a bit foolish.

Rude!

I am English. I love seeing my nation's flag. I would say that the fool is the person who claims it to be something it isn't.

It's incredible how many people on this site are so immune to the real reason behind this.
Honestly and truthfully, are all those putting faux innocent 'Isn't it lovely to have some pride in our national flag' so thick they can't read or comprehend the reality.
And why are all these flag fucking 'patriots' bombing around at night with balaclavas on secretly putting them up or painting them everywhere? If it's about 'PriDe iN R CountRy', surely it would something we'd all do together after work...oh, hang on.

Far-left Antifa wear balaclavas all the time when they are out intimidating women who don't share their views.

It doesn't really matter why they are being put up - unless it's illegal, they have just as much right to put them up as do those putting up Palestine flags. And both have divisive and intimidating connotations to different groups so either both flags are allowed or none.

Yours are certainly doing the sneery left stereotype much service.

Is it sneery to hope that people who profess such patriotism are actually more than loosely acquainted with the language? Interesting.
It is quite cute though, how you've jumped to the defence of @AlertLimeZebra. You seem so excited to have found likeminded souls, bless you

I have no objection to flags it's the motives behind the Yaxley-Lennon supporters putting them up and the actions of racists do affect me.

2dogsandabudgie · 09/09/2025 16:07

I had to travel to another local town yesterday, saw a statue with a traffic cone on it's head and an England flag tied to it. Did make me chuckle.

rainbowsparkle28 · 09/09/2025 16:07

WhereIsMyJumper · 09/09/2025 15:11

I think they look quite jolly.
I haven’t seen any evidence anywhere of them being put up by racists.

completely misses the point 🤦‍♀️

The very act of them being put up is the evidence of racism on behalf of those doing it…

I've recently returned from beautiful Switzerland and there were Swiss flags absolutely everywhere.

Are they racist too OP?

When I was there there were posters everywhere of a cartoon of three white sheep kicking a black sheep off the swiss flag.

WellThisIsFranklyDreadful · 09/09/2025 16:08

The thing that’s obvious from all this is the catastrophic failings in education in the UK over the last 40 years.

It’s no coincidence that the overwhelming majority of the flag shaggers clearly struggle with comprehension, spelling, grammar and critical thinking.

One need look no further than some of the posters on here for evidence that they’ve been badly let down by the education system.

If politics and critical thinking are not routinely taught in schools we can’t then be surprised that the less bright among us fall for every scapegoating scheme touted by charlatans like Nazi Nige.

As I said upthread, go and read a book. If you don’t read you can’t write. You’ve been a perfect example today. Thank you.

CoralOP · 09/09/2025 16:08

Some people are doing it to be racist, some people are doing it to be patriotic and some are doing in retaliation of the police saying they shouldn't be flown.

I think the latter is the biggest reason where I live. I personally think they look lovely. I love seeing flags when on holiday so nice to see in England too.

I know an absolutely lovely veteran who is disgusted that he served with pride under the queen and flag for 20 years and is now being told flying a flag is racist, he has his up both in respect for the country and as an f you to the government/police/whoever has a problem with it.

I think people need to stop shouting racist when they see our own flag up, yes some people are putting them up to send a message to all the migrants coming here but there are other reasons to.

Lemintonic · 09/09/2025 16:09

There are loads of them painted near my grandchildren's school and my daughter and I were discussing this. Eldest grandchild asked what it was all about (aged 9) and even he understood when we explained that it is our National flag being horribly abused. The area the school is in has a rather large demographic of Tommy lovers.

On the other side of the city, there are none. Not one. This is the 'educated', for want of a better word, area. If people want to be lumped in with racist idiots because they are pretending it's all about peace, love and our green and pleasant land, then clearly, as I said before, they have no comprehension or reading skills.

In my job I come across 'Thems gettin' houses and benifits afore me' clients quite a lot. I can't reason, nor do I want to, but it's getting worrying. I just have to say 'we're not talking about other people, we're helping you'

They are NOT doing it because they love the country, they are doing it to intimidate and scare and show their 'power' over others. The power to intimidate and act like the arseholes they are - nasty, stupid, thugs.

If you truly believe this then you are very, very naive and socially unaware.

Do you also support vandalism of roundabouts and road signs? Is that purely in the name of patriotism too?

This thread has got the Rotherham victim vibes. Who gives a flying fook about a white girl's feelings.

So a girl wearing a British flag/ dress is assumed to be white?

My whole family is British, all different shades. I am white but probably not white enough for some. Which is kind of the point I'm making.

The intention behind these flag posters will look at me and my whole family and not SEE us as British.

Because the whole Raise the Flags campaign is being promoted by him so if they're not supporters they're incredibly deluded.
