Fucking flags

1000 replies

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Oh no. Maybe ill have to rethink…

I saw it as pro-rave culture and a bit of acid 🤣

Why do you lot always say you're "not being listened to"? What does it even mean. We're obviously listening, hence this discussion. Being heard doesn't mean you get what you want.

I don’t think they mean people on mn but politicians. Labour have shifted a fair bit in a bid to take back support from Reform.

Easipeelerie · 09/09/2025 18:49

WhereIsMyJumper · 09/09/2025 15:11

I think they look quite jolly.
I haven’t seen any evidence anywhere of them being put up by racists.

Of course you’re not going to see evidence, but you can read it. It stems from something called Operation Raise the Flag. Read up on it.

Like this

Yup.

But obviously that's not racism.

Just people being VERY PROUD of their country. Much prouder than me, because I'm not spraying crosses on Chinese takeaways. But that's the hate-filled left for you...

Says it all really.

The flags are wonderful. We need to take pride in our country just as other countries do.

I now live in Wales and the Welsh have always displayed their flag with pride, it’s about time the English expressed their patriotism and I love it .

Operation raise the Flag, which this stems from is not solely about national pride.

MidnightMusing5 · 09/09/2025 18:51

As the child of an immigrant, actual/ real flags don’t bother me. However I cannot stand paint daubed on roads and walls. Pure vandalism- regardless which flag it is.

doubleshotcappuccino · 09/09/2025 18:52

the flag is being hijacked by those that hate - and that’s awful- nobody in their right mind would want to raise children in an environmentally like that - it’s a mob and menace mentality - we’ve got to push back for all our chidren. I have yet to see a post from anyone who is pro-flag ( in this context) who is well informed with a clear grasp of fact

Nope. Love seeing the flags :)

There is no hate filled left.

People feel their country and culture are under threat, that they have no voice, suppose this is one way of displaying their concerns when in despair! A desperate situation.

I'm quite frightened, to be honest. More and more shit like "man in Wales sets up whites-only town" is being reported in such a matter-of-fact way. I don't think we're that far from people like my Tunisian neighbour being verbally abused in the street, which will escalate to physical attacks.
Here in Wiltshire we all woke up to a defaced White Horse this morning. It was fabric but staining and damage to the structure is being assessed.

Even if they do mean politicians, why do they think nobody is listening? Politicians don't give everyone what they want. That's not how life works.

Lemintonic · 09/09/2025 15:48

It's incredible how many people on this site are so immune to the real reason behind this.
Honestly and truthfully, are all those putting faux innocent 'Isn't it lovely to have some pride in our national flag' so thick they can't read or comprehend the reality.
And why are all these flag fucking 'patriots' bombing around at night with balaclavas on secretly putting them up or painting them everywhere? If it's about 'PriDe iN R CountRy', surely it would something we'd all do together after work...oh, hang on.

What's with the mix up of capitalisation and deliberate misspelling? I see it a lot on these threads.

I think Labour are though. Whatever pressure is being applied via Reform and campaigns it’s making Starmer / Labour act to not lose support.

Rightsraptor · 09/09/2025 18:47

And therefore we are entitled to take our flags back from those people.

They do not represent fascism or extreme beliefs: they represent our country. I like seeing them

To be clear, there is a national far right movement that has hijacked our country's flags in a co-ordinated and crowd-funded effort to intimidate immigrants, and in order to counter this fascist extreme movement, you are reclaiming the flag by... joining in at the same time?

Have you seen the film, Three Lions? There's a brilliant scene.

Fessal opens up the garage door. About 2 feet. They all have to crawl in. The others keeping watch. The last - Fessal - having to check for himself. They enter. Hassan filming on his phone. The floor is covered with bottles of bleach & screw top wine bottles - also containing bleach. Fessal talking to Hassan past cam.

HASSAN Woah, liquid peroxide.
FESSAL Three years of stockpiling.
BARRY Where did you get it all?
FESSAL A wholesale shop down the road.
BARRY What? All from the same shop?
FESSAL Yeah.
BARRY You mug. You’ll get us nicked.
FESSAL No - I use different voices every time I go in.
BARRY Different what?
FESSAL Different voices.
BARRY Different voices? Show me.
FESSAL What?
BARRY Show me the voices. Come on.
FESSAL Well one of them’s my voice: “Can I have twelve bottles of bleach please”
BARRY Yeah I know what that sounds like. Give me another one.
FESSAL IRA voice.
BARRY IRA voice? They’re terrorists Fessal. What you wanna do a terrorist voice for? You’ll get us nicked.
FESSAL I’ll be in disguise though won’t I?
BARRY Yeah, but, as a terrorist. Let’s hear the voice.
FESSAL (no change to the voice) “Can I have twelve bottles of bleach please”. Barry’s face is a clean slab of disbelief. And then I got one like this as well (again no change) “Can I have twelve bottles of bleach please”

Taking the back the flag from the far right by flying it alongside them has big 'Fessal using the voice of a terrorist group to distract from the fact he's a terrorist' vibes.

Wynter25 · 09/09/2025 15:01

Nope. Love seeing the flags :)

Me too. I don't see it as being racist, as most of the people I know who are supporting them just want the government to understand people have had enough.
Legal immigrants are welcome, we know who they are, they have been though the process of coming here legally. It's illegal immigrants, the ones who are unknown, no papers or proof of who they are, possible criminals mixed in amongst the ones who deserve to be here are all mixed in together and giving them all a bad name.

People feel their country and culture are under threat, that they have no voice, suppose this is one way of displaying their concerns when in despair! A desperate situation.

People do feel ignored and marginalised and that showed when the red wall broke a couple of elections ago. The problem is that the likes of Tommy Robinson and Farage are pointing in the wrong direction (deliberately) at the cause of the undoubted difficulties there are. It's a lot of things, housing shortage, gig economy, things going to pot during Covid, Tory misgovernment, an endless list. It isn't the people crossing the Channel in dinghies. It is much more complex and (at the risk of inviting the Godwin accusation) it is what the Nazi party did in Germany before WW2, all about directing the wrath of the unhappy at the (well integrated) Jews, blame them for the economy and everything else you can throw at them.

Only it wasn't down to the Jews and it was a path that set the world on fire. I don't want to be part of a country that sets one foot on that path and I sadly think we're a bit further along at the moment.

Well slow clap for op!

I’m genuinely confused by all these posts.

It’s boring, it’s tedious, have a medal, bingo cards (ironic since lots of you seem to be saying the same things as well), well done op, bigger things to worry about etc etc etc.

This is a forum. There are many topics on here. People are allowed to express their opinions on things that mean something to them, others are allowed to disagree. But all these petulant replies from people who apparently find it soooo harmless and boring but stop to comment anyway, they just baffle me.

English born, I can trace my maternal blood line back to the 15c in southern England but I don’t feel comfortable walking through streets that have the St George flag hanging everywhere.

People feel their country and culture are under threat, that they have no voice, suppose this is one way of displaying their concerns when in despair! A desperate situation.

If your culture is so fragile that it can't exist alongside other cultures, that's a you problem, not a them problem. No one can take your culture away from you and another living alongside it takes nothing away from yours.
