Fucking flags

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

There are no flags where I live (London). No painted roundabouts or anything anywhere.

This whole overnight flag nonsense has very unpleasant undertones. I think we should just call it out for what it is - xenophobia.

I'm bored with the "I'm not racist but ..." brigade.

These type of people hanging these flags and painting roundabouts are evidently the type of people who have rarely left their town, have low education, a massive chip on their shoulders and are very unpleasant characters overall. Unfortunately, these people live among us, but they do not represent British values. They are utter morons, no more.

Protecting ethnic Russians was Putin's justification for annexing Donbas and subsequently invading Ukraine. Norway is a little concerned about Putin's designs for Svalbard as it increases it's population there. Ex soviet-bloc countries and their neighbours are a little wary.

The same excuse was given when Stalin ordered the Russian army to invade Poland,Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, Finland, and Romania in 1939 to 1940.

Except that’s not true. It IS true, just look at the news reports of children and women sexually assaulted or even murdered by migrant men. It has happened, you can’t claim it hasn’t.

Child abusers in the UK are also 68% straight, white British men.

So who are the other 32%? By your own figures that is an astronomic proportion compared to the number of non ‘straight, white British men’.

There is also an issue where some police forces have been reluctant to prosecute the non ‘straight white British men’ because they are scared of accusations of racism. Just look at the grooming gangs scandal

Interestingly it is people like OP and all the others crying ‘racism’ at regular opportunities that are contributing to this problem.

Some men who originate from countries where women have no human rights and who claim they didn’t know it was illegal as a defence against rape charges here may not be 100% safe towards women.

British citizens of other races and nationalities. White women. It’s not like there are only 2 options. Immigrants make up a tiny, TINY proportion of crime. The whole reason it makes headline news is because it happens so rarely it’s newsworthy. A woman is raped in London alone once an hour. A woman is murdered in the UK every 1.5 days. Just try really, really hard to think critically just for a minute.

It seems some of the police were 'turning a blind eye' because they were also involved.

I have already given the figures. It’s not my problem if you are hard of understanding. You could just look them up?

What bugs me about threads like this is that so many people just want to say something scathing or clever … just to put down or one up… there’s no attempt to understand and not many want to authentically open the dialogue because ,in the main they’ll get everything back other than an attempt to understand. I have worries about loved ones with what’s going on right now. But rather than just try and find a witty and caustic way to attack each other I really wish we could actually talk about it

You seem to think that children who come here on boats as refugees aren’t capable of going on to become doctors. Or that it’s that easy to come here with a visa on a plane if your country is in the middle of a war.

And we aren’t paying for them. Immigrants are net contributors to the UK tax system. They are paying for US. Less than 0.5% of government spending is on immigrants, and immigrants contribute far more than that in taxes.

Oh yeah, all those boats full of children.....children with hairy legs and beards. Aye right then.

I thought my area had avoided this until yesterday when I saw a house with approximately 8 large flags attached to it and every street light on the high street with a flag attached, rather impressive for a one street village.

I’m not fussed by them, you want to fly a flag, go ahead. I quite like seeing them

You could just say what your fears are for your loved ones and while you do that give concrete reasons for that fear.

My very dry colleague observed that at least the Nazis had STANDARDS. Strict graphic design framework, strong, strident heraldry, sharp as fuck uniforms tailored by Hugo Boss... Hitler would be turning in his grave at this shoddy display.

I thought this earlier. Hateful as they were, they certainly presented a better image of a master race than some beer bellied character in a stained England shirt pissing in the street.

Proud to be born in England. Makes me happy seeing them :) why shouldn't they be every here. Other countries have them up 🤷‍♀️

they are being used in a similar way to the way the swastika was used in Nazi Germany. still feel the same way?

I think they look quite jolly.
I haven’t seen any evidence anywhere of them being put up by racists.

Well, that's what the BBC says so everyone flows with their definition.
A colleague of mine mentioned in the office the other day that she drove through Epping and saw the far right protesters. I asked her how she knew they were far right. She thought for a moment. I pressed her; "what did their placards say that seemed far right?". She said, should couldn't really point to anything but they had the flag. I asked, "what flag?". She stumbled and eventually said the red and white one. I said, "the England flag"? She said yes. I said all countries have flags and it's their identity. Another guy said, yes but it has a cross on it. I said The Cross is a symbol of Christianity. He said it should be changed then. I told them I disagree. Now, I'm West African and they're English. I told them this country is one of the two most liberal countries in the world. The culture and identity should be honoured, not erased.

On the off chance you really are that thick and not just being willfully obtuse, let me spell it out for you.

Coming here costs money. If you come on a small boat you have to pay to be trafficked here. The cost of the whole family coming at once is prohibitive so the patriarch routinely comes first, often via small boat, seeks legal status and gets a job then pays for their wife and children to come via legal means.

  1. An ethnic Russian is a person who cannot help that they were born Russian anymore than I can help the fact I was born brown and you - Latvian.
  2. "Diluting ethnicity" is a eugenics concept and should have been retired with the Nazis. Millions of mixed Russian/Baltic and mixed Ukrainian/Russian people are the result of Mum and Dad falling in love so stop spouting nonsense.
  3. Why should they "go back" to Russia - a country that most of them have never been to? Why shouldn't children be educated in their native tongue? Why shouldn't the government cater for a major language group? Why should they have to master Lithuanian/Latvian/Estonian to be granted a passport?

Racist? Yes you are.

It’s not about being brown!!! I have Russian friends and family, it’s not about hating Russian people. Stop googling some nonsense you have no idea about. It’s not Eugenics. It was intentional rape with the intent to make another country more ‘Russian’. Because if you live in that country and were born in that country you should learn the language of the country you are in. Do you see Putin now trying to regain land from Ukraine? Is that something you agree with? Just because a lot of ethnic Russians live in the parts of Ukraine that Putin is trying to reclaim (and funnily enough is an area rich in minerals and oil) does not mean he should take it back just because a large part of that area is inhabited by Russians living in Ukraine.

Clearly you have never lived in a country under occupation. As a child I was forced to learn Russian by the occupiers - there was no choice.
People killed for not agreeing with Russian propaganda.

Your woke brain is broken. Lack of assimilation is the problem with modern day Britain - that is what is causing that flag waving madness you can see now. Of course there are plenty of uneducated flag wavers - the Britain First type. Most people aren’t bothered that people want their children to learn the native language of the parents. My children speak 3, english, Latvian and Ukrainian. I speak 7, fluently.

Sure. But they were still far right protesters, weren’t they.
