Fucking flags

1000 replies

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Your attitude to ethnic Russians is pretty despicable.
Diluting the ethnicity of the population?
Shame on you, shame on Latvia.

Protecting ethnic Russians was Putin's justification for annexing Donbas and subsequently invading Ukraine. Norway is a little concerned about Putin's designs for Svalbard as it increases it's population there. Ex soviet-bloc countries and their neighbours are a little wary.

One of the racists, innit.

Except that’s not true, and the fact you think it is is exactly the problem. 95% of children who are assaulted in the UK are assaulted by someone known to them, and 90% by a male family member. Child abusers in the UK are also 68% straight, white British men. The problem isn’t immigrants, the call is coming from inside the house. In fact, just today one of the anti-migrant protestors with their lovely “save are kids” banners was revealed to be a convicted child sex offender.

Except that’s not true. It IS true, just look at the news reports of children and women sexually assaulted or even murdered by migrant men. It has happened, you can’t claim it hasn’t.

Child abusers in the UK are also 68% straight, white British men.

So who are the other 32%? By your own figures that is an astronomic proportion compared to the number of non ‘straight, white British men’.

There is also an issue where some police forces have been reluctant to prosecute the non ‘straight white British men’ because they are scared of accusations of racism. Just look at the grooming gangs scandal

Interestingly it is people like OP and all the others crying ‘racism’ at regular opportunities that are contributing to this problem.

Some men who originate from countries where women have no human rights and who claim they didn’t know it was illegal as a defence against rape charges here may not be 100% safe towards women.

PandoraSocks · 09/09/2025 17:16

"Fighting age males" is such a dogwhistle.

I don't remember it being used to describe young, male asylum seekers until very recently. Funny that 🤔

Shinysunday · 09/09/2025 17:16

There have been several other threads @xmaspud3 which got a similar range of responses, including from the sizeable cohort of patriotic ordinary folk who (like the Spanish) like to see their flag flying, and have never been aware of a racist or political connotation. Some of them particularly liked to see the cheerful grafitti'd roundabouts.

Some people like em, some people don’t. Hey ho.
What else is new to clutch pearls over and get anxiety about?

Ridiculous post.
It's not exactly about clutching pearls.
Do you know anything about Fascism?

Maybe we should ask ourselves why that is? We should be encouraging British youngsters to train as Doctors not relying on overseas people.

Maybe we should be tougher with the unemployed (not including disabilities) and say that anyone who is unemployed for 6 months has to take any job?

You can’t force people to be doctors if they don’t want to be. The top career choices in British children are influencer and footballer. I don’t somehow think those people are going to make it through a medicine degree.

I particularly like that our local balaclava'd, brave half wits have painted red crosses on a roundabout and carriageway markings outside our local Sainsburys. Other supermarkets, that aren't orange, are also available.

The one, like many supermarkets and shopping outlets , where shoplifting is rife. An offence largely committed by indigenous white, drug and drink addled adults, who were born here and also take from a system they don't pay in to.

Evidenced - Personal experience of locking up said non tax payers and of seeing them waddle out, unchallenged, with their bags of swag and ill gotten gains. Probably not packs of red crayons though.

MUMSNET BINGO! Someone’s tried to bring it round to trans people 🙄

Exactly. I'm out.

Just another boring England flag bashing thread. YAWNNNNN! 😴

It is indeed a boring England flag. Such a dreary design. Probably just as well it is so simple.

The Union Jack however, is lovely, as is the Welsh flag.

It is more about aesthetics for me.

The thing that’s obvious from all this is the catastrophic failings in education in the UK over the last 40 years.

It’s no coincidence that the overwhelming majority of the flag shaggers clearly struggle with comprehension, spelling, grammar and critical thinking.

One need look no further than some of the posters on here for evidence that they’ve been badly let down by the education system.

If politics and critical thinking are not routinely taught in schools we can’t then be surprised that the less bright among us fall for every scapegoating scheme touted by charlatans like Nazi Nige.

What a patronising post .

But a Doctor from abroad would seek the proper visa and come here legally.

You don't honestly believe that the hoards of 20-25 year old's coming in on boats are doctors do you? They are too young to even be junior doctors, let alone experienced doctors.

They will be non skilled people who will take on minimum wage jobs, and then claim benefits to top themselves up - that's if they decide to work at all. Taking money from the pot that they haven't paid a penny in to. How anyone is okay with this, I have no idea.

You and me are paying for them. Lovely jubbly eh?

This ignores the fact that their children will speak English and hopefully have an education that gives them more choices (especially thinking of Afghan girls)

It's a bit the reverse of the fathers of some of my Sikh school friends who had been doctors, lawyers and business owners before Idi Amin deported them and they took what jobs they could here, one at least (a doctor) cleaned toilets. They also came in for plenty of racism, despite being here legally.

Usa have multiple flags. Lots of other countries do. In Turkey they were everywhere whats the difference

You seem to think that children who come here on boats as refugees aren’t capable of going on to become doctors. Or that it’s that easy to come here with a visa on a plane if your country is in the middle of a war.

And we aren’t paying for them. Immigrants are net contributors to the UK tax system. They are paying for US. Less than 0.5% of government spending is on immigrants, and immigrants contribute far more than that in taxes.

Proud to be born in England. Makes me happy seeing them :) why shouldn't they be every here. Other countries have them up 🤷‍♀️

You’re proud of something you had no control over and didn’t achieve?

I feel like they're fairly unlikely to do a good job in those circumstances.

I wouldn't want someone caring for my relative by force.

Lots of them are gay white British men. 87% of child sex abusers are white British men.

My very dry colleague observed that at least the Nazis had STANDARDS. Strict graphic design framework, strong, strident heraldry, sharp as fuck uniforms tailored by Hugo Boss... Hitler would be turning in his grave at this shoddy display.

I think they look cheap and chavy.
