Fucking flags

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Do you know what is meant by ethnic Russian? Maybe it’s my translation. It’s people who love Russia so much that they insist in living in countries like Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine and many other countries that were occupied but yet don’t seem to want to go back to Mother Russia. This was done deliberately by the Soviet Union - they were sent in to Russify the nations they occupied Their families insist on speaking Russian, they will not learn the language of the country they live in. They were up in arms when Latvian government stopped printing legislation in Russian alongside Latvian.
They send their children to Russian schools so that they do not assimilate properly into society.

They were sent to these countries as occupiers and rapists after the war. Raped women who had their children, abused their own children and raped them - this is what was meant by diluting. Raping women so that they bore Russian children. They never left. Have you not wondered why if Russia is so wonderful they don’t go back? You have no idea about the history of these countries and what living relatives today have been through. Educate yourself, you clearly have no idea.

  1. An ethnic Russian is a person who cannot help that they were born Russian anymore than I can help the fact I was born brown and you - Latvian.
  2. "Diluting ethnicity" is a eugenics concept and should have been retired with the Nazis. Millions of mixed Russian/Baltic and mixed Ukrainian/Russian people are the result of Mum and Dad falling in love so stop spouting nonsense.
  3. Why should they "go back" to Russia - a country that most of them have never been to? Why shouldn't children be educated in their native tongue? Why shouldn't the government cater for a major language group? Why should they have to master Lithuanian/Latvian/Estonian to be granted a passport?

Racist? Yes you are.

The number one job aspiration of British children is currently “influencer”. Do you really think they’ll be lining up to do unskilled manual labour? No.

And it’s not about “low skilled” workers. 27% of the NHS are immigrants, for example - do you really think we’d do better with 27% fewer doctors? We do not have enough British people with the skills to fill the gap - we simply don’t.

But a Doctor from abroad would seek the proper visa and come here legally.

You don't honestly believe that the hoards of 20-25 year old's coming in on boats are doctors do you? They are too young to even be junior doctors, let alone experienced doctors.

They will be non skilled people who will take on minimum wage jobs, and then claim benefits to top themselves up - that's if they decide to work at all. Taking money from the pot that they haven't paid a penny in to. How anyone is okay with this, I have no idea.

You and me are paying for them. Lovely jubbly eh?

Exactly. It’s crazy people don’t see the message of flags being put up now.
If everyone is just simply patriotic, why has the flag flying only just begun?

This with bells on

Are you the sandwich board man's wife?

They do see the message.

They see it very clearly.

They're hiding their racism behind a flag, which is pathetic.

And cowardly. "I'm not racist I'm just all of a sudden, overnight, VERY PROUD to be English. So proud I'm openly admiring shitty spray painted crosses on dog poo bins and flapping bedsheets on motorway bridges that are one gust of wind away from causing mass casualties, and if you don't like them, you obviously hate Britain."

At least have the guts to own your feelings.

Proud to be born in England. Makes me happy seeing them :) why shouldn't they be every here. Other countries have them up 🤷‍♀️

You’re proud of something that was completely by accident of birth. Be proud of something. You have actually achieved yourself.

Which other countries have them on street lamps attached using cable ties at just about the height fuckwits with ladders and balaclavas can put them? 🤔

I hate everything that he has done to bring this country to the depths that it has plummeted to.

This was a country to be proud of, that bravely led the way with anti racism. Now it is a laughing stock and Nigel Frogface is partly responsible.

Context is absolutely everything on this. Are there times and places where flying the flag has no racist intent? Absolutely. I feel fine seeing a country church, the Olympics or some national event happening as examples.

But right now these flags aren't neutral symbols and are instead intended to demonstrate who 'belongs' and who doesn't in the minds of those putting them up. It must be incredibly intimidating in some areas right now and that's what they want.

As other posters have said it's hugely depressing that other countries can fly a flag just for pride or love of where they live whereas here it can be so wrapped up with the right, racism and bigotry. There's no easy way to disentangle it from those connotations but seeing people wrapped in the flag hurling abuse at hotels, looking aggressive on demonstrations and using it to intimidate others sure won't get us closer. This is a horrible atmosphere right now.

I don’t need to investigate it, it’s my friend’s child, and yes she is talking to the school.

it’s a pretty big coincidence that this is the first time it’s ever happened to him, and just so happens to coincide with a massive emboldening of nationalism.

Unless you’re a net contributor, you’re not paying for anyone.

But regardless of that, absolutely fine to pay for them personally.

A true patriot would have stayed at home. America can ask to come and talk the country down, but a patriot would have had a prior engagement.

I didn't watch it all, because I am actually proud of my country. Why would I choose to watch a craven lickspittle talk us down on an international stage?
