Fucking flags

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

I think that anti-fascists should appropriate the gesture with a few tweaks that speak to inclusion and then we'll see if the flag flyers think it's just about celebrating the country.

Welcome to our world in Northern Ireland. I hate them too op. Only here we have flags, or 'flegs' from both side. Union Jack's would be majority though. Whenever I see people from an area getting themselves worked up about how much they love their flags, kerbs painted etc I honestly think these are people with not a job or a gcse between them and it's usually right! I think it just really cheapens the place and makes it look uninviting.

Well. A typo is a minor detail compared to painting the wrong fucking flag, isn't it? As for the sheer mirth at the typo, as we (immigrant) Danes say: Små hjerner, små glæder (Small brains need small fun)

None in my area, but the small town down the road is full of them. They made me angry for a short time because Facebook was showing that everyone was jeering about them being put up to “send a message that this is OUR country”. I’ve come off Facebook and other social media because it was full of it and I was not going to be dragged down to their level. I’m trying to think “compassion for the conned and contempt for the conman” but it’s hard when people are as thick as mince. Now each time I see another one I do an eye roll and force myself to move on. There is a part of me that feels a bit sad for them, the vast majority have been targeted by Reform because of their gullibility, socioeconomic status and lack of education. The middle class ones with the flags are the ones that confuse me and still annoy me a bit because they’re choosing to just be stupid

Children are sexually assaulted by migrants from hotels and everyone will say we must not use this to judge other migrants.

And I have literally seen the "flag lovers" on TV setting bins on fire, throwing them at the police and at vulnerable people literally imprisoned in hostels.

This is not personal to you but I think it's sad and fascist to bully others into voting the way you expect them to. I also think the same about those who make passive aggressive comments about voting Reform. More entertaining, however, is the subconscious help that these fascists give to Nige. Fascism has certainly changed its direction.

Fwiw, I can see both sides. I actually think they look great along the long stretch of road we drive down. My Polish neighbour has St.George flags on her fence. She also has a Union Jack cushion in her car. A Ukraine family round the corner also have a St.George flag up.

Locally, I don't think we have an issue with these immigrants, they're fitting in and working. It's more the ones who people on Facebook refer to as 'boat people'. I've been creeped out by some (watching me intensely and turning their heads to keep watching, it's unnatural and uncomfortable to me) and there's been plenty put on Facebook about them making girls/women feel uncomfortable (with videos as proof.) It's not their skin colour, it's their behaviour and what I assume is a culture clash. They make us feel unsafe when they stare constantly and follow people, especially when it's school girls. Imo, they're the ones people aren't welcoming into our neighbourhoods and it's not difficult to understand why.

You cannot turn a blind eye to the large group of people flying the flag to cause division. There’s racial undertones to this movement and it’s not okay.
