AIBU to say it isn't unexpected, or a surprise?

Shouldnt be an MP either imo. Liars and cheats shouldn’t be in office.

So that’s the majority of them that shouldn’t be in office then

Shame on her for wanting to blame the conveyancing company!

Who have stated that they were not qualified to give the specialist advice she needed, and were being made scapegoats.

She's always been so quick to call others out, but didn't she also get some clothes from the guy who pays for Kier's wardrobe? Not so slow on the uptake is Ange!

Keir.

Meanwhile.

Very standard arrangement in the media and totally legal. Plenty of BBC "personalities" do the same, see Gary Lineker for example.

socks1107 · 05/09/2025 12:20

Good. She couldn’t stay after that

Meanwhile.

That is nothing compared to how much he will siphon off for him and and his cronies if Reform win.

Shocked she actually resigned as thought she'd cling on for everything.
I once was a big fan, but I don't believe she is a voice for WC people. I doubt she's the only one who dodges taxes, all parties are full of corrupt self serving dickheads. The whole place needs cleaning up!

Shellyash · 05/09/2025 12:21

Often I will ask my accountant what the most tax efficient way of doing this or that is and he advises accordingly. But I am not deputy PM, neither do I call for my competitors to resign publicly.
You live by the sword you die by the sword.

TheGander · 05/09/2025 12:21

💯 @ByShyRaven . I don’t think it’s good to destabilise this government. What’s the alternative , realistically? Farage and his financier cronies who will turn this place into a poor imitation of the USA, privatise the NHS and cosy up to Russia. Badenoch who has no real plan ( apart from drilling time oil) and just sits in the sidelines carping.

WitchesofPainswick · 05/09/2025 12:22

I think it's a real shame. I had a lot of time for Rayner and I think she's got into a total pickle with her family arrangements, but that's not a huge surprise.

All this "so she could live with her boyfriend" commentary smacks of misogyny - but women in politics just get hounded endlessly, so not a surprise.

Of course this is totally ok 🙄

No one advised her accordingly, that’s the issue. She lied about that. Both practices put out statements to correct that lie.

Authenticity 🤣🤣🤣

Credibility!!!😂😂

BananaPeels · 05/09/2025 12:16

That’s not the issue though. He’s done nothing wrong. the house is owned by his girlfriend. Lots of people plan their tax affairs that way. You might not like good tax planning but it’s legal. he never owed any tax on that. She did however.

I’m glad someone else said this!

Tax avoidance and tax evasion are totally different things.

Her interview with Beth Rigby where she cries over her kids having to read all about this in the press. ODFOD. Had you kept your nose clean, your kids wouldn’t be upset.

Rotten woman.

nam3c4ang3 · 05/09/2025 12:23

I knew my Friday was going to get better - thank god she’s gone. How shit that KS didn’t have the balls to sack her.

ilovesooty · 05/09/2025 12:09

Cue the gloating. I look forward to Farage resigning due to the house in Clacton registered in his partner's name in order to avoid stamp duty payments.

But Rayner would have been fine if the house was in Tarry’s name and she just moved in with him… perhaps they couldn't do that as he’d likely lose half in the divorce.

depressing. I had hoped that Labour MPs would be better than the Tories. Is honesty too much to ask of an MP??

I must admit, I feel quite saddened by Angela Rayner’s resignation.

While she wasn’t without her flaws, she brought a rare combination of authenticity, working-class credibility, and conviction to frontline politics — qualities that are increasingly scarce.

Her departure raises genuine concerns about the future direction of the party. Without her voice, there’s a real risk that Labour may drift further toward the centre-right.

The sustained campaign from sections of the right-wing press to discredit her has clearly taken its toll. It’s a sobering and disturbing reminder of the influence the media can wield in shaping narratives.

Authenticity and credibility. 🤣

That wouldn't leave many in the HoC.
