Their stuff looks lovely (online on skinny models anyway) - have heard a few good things recently as i had written them off a few years ago. Anyone use them and happy with the product, quality, returns etc

i hate online clothes shop but the high street/town centers are dead in many places now so options are really limited often to just M&S, Next, H&M or Primark

I wouldn't touch Shein with a barge pole as their ethics are one of the worst. I know it's a spectrum and many other stores have questionable practices but their supply chain is particularly hidden and their treatment of workers particularly poor. Shein and Temu... you've got to ask yourself how can they make some much profit with such ridiculously low prices and who is paying the price?

ExtraOnions · 18/08/2025 11:28

Slave Labour using, credit card number harvesting, environmental disasters, vomiting out badly made shite.

OdisseanQueen · 18/08/2025 11:29

I wouldn’t know, as I stopped even looking at fast fashion years ago.

Goldeh · 18/08/2025 11:30

Their products are very low quality, often made in cheap fabrics with shoddy stitching and printing. That's before you even get into their ethical practices and the low pay of their workers being a huge reason why it's so cheap. If you're getting a t-shirt for £2, how much of that £2 do you think is going towards the sweat-shop employee who stitched it? Their staff are exploited, working 12hr shifts seven days a week for the bare minimum of pay. There have been children found working in their supply chain too.

PrincessASDaisy · 18/08/2025 11:31

Ordered a dress that was the consistency of a shower curtain. And this wasn’t that long ago. So no. I tired, it was shit, I won’t buy again.

Pyjamatimenow · 18/08/2025 11:32

clothes are pretty terrible. Some of the swimwear is good and I buy the hair accessories for my daughters

Aethelredtheunsteady · 18/08/2025 11:32

They can churn out more than one million products a day. Think of the human and environmental costs to manage that across so many different designs.

PInkyStarfish · 18/08/2025 11:34

Cheap crap made of rags and assembled by slaves.

spoonbillstretford · 18/08/2025 11:34

DD2 orders some stuff from there. Quite apart from everything people have said upthread, delivery times are extremely unreliable. She ordered some stuff weeks before a concert and received it a couple of days after the event in the end. I wouldn't bother if time is of the essence.

allmycats · 18/08/2025 11:39

I work in a charity shop and we get so much of this crap in and people won’t buy it at £1 per item. A lot of the fabric seems to have some sort of coating on it. Did a burn 🔥 test on a dress and it burned with a massive flame and black smoke and the fabric was a sticky congealed mess, would have stuck to skin. It needs banning from importing to the UK

cheesycheesy · 18/08/2025 11:42

I’m in agreement with the environmental issues but most of the stuff we buy on the high street and online in the uk is crap from china. But at least buying stuff in the uk means helping the economy somewhat even if it’s mass produced shite marked up

Sparkletastic · 18/08/2025 11:43

Shein is shite

Annoyeddd · 18/08/2025 11:45

Still crap.
Someone somewhere may have bought an item that was half decent (probably a sample made for show) but still unethical.

Can get reasonably priced UK made stuff - seems more expensive but will last for ages

Nothanksreally · 18/08/2025 11:47

Yeah it’s good but I don’t really understand their pricing, it shows something as cheap but when you add it to the basket it triples in price!

DashboardConfession · 18/08/2025 11:47

If you're going for online shops there are so many more options than Shein. On the high street no items are as cheap as these shitty apps full of crap from China - nor should they be. We don't have a right to £3 t shirts or £5 dresses.

adlitem · 18/08/2025 11:49

It's one place I just will not shop. For so many reasons. Google the chemicals that's been found in their stuff. Literally toxic metals in their jewellery. Think about your health if you can look aside from the CSR stuff.

One of the significant contributors to the "death of the High Street" is the proliferation of online shopping. So can't complain about no options when you're shopping online.

You probably typed this on an iPhone and drive a 4x4. Bit hypocritical.

QPZM · 18/08/2025 12:32

Whenever the Shein ads used to come up on my FB feed, all I saw was AI models or outfits badly photoshopped onto models.

Why would you assume that about anyone? I don't know anyone who has either of those things, so why would you just guess a stranger on the internet did??

ThatNiftyLimeCat · 18/08/2025 12:34

Well I love them. I buy a lot from there as I love fast fashion and I’ve never had any problems 🤷‍♀️

Letgoofmyblank · 18/08/2025 12:35

Dire ethics, dire quality. I’d absolutely judge anyone who bought that shite.

Radiowaawaa · 18/08/2025 12:35

I wonder if wages and working conditions reflect this apparent higher standard?

You don’t know anyone, not a single person, who has an iPhone? Sure 😆
