I think it is reasonable to have a specific crime for this sort of violation of rights and privacy, rather than Outraging public decency, Voyeurism, Exposure/ indecent exposure.

I'm a big fat TERF.... But you can't write the law for all reasonable scenarios and expect it to be enforced by an underfunded and understaffed police force who can't be everywhere.

There are a lot of laws, not enough police, 100%. But, we both think that sexed spaces should be kept single sex, what pressure needs to be applied to keep males out of female spaces, if they insist on transgressing these norms? Those crimes above could possibly be applied, but it is true to say there is no specific law, just wondered if we needed one given these threats

Yes you can no males except for 1st responders due to an emergenc, its literally that simple

The responsibility of policing single sex spaces lies with the person / company owning or running the premises. We don’t need a new law, we just need people in charge to accept the law as it is and to enforce it. If they don’t they’ll end up losing very expensive discrimination cases (just like NHS Fife are about to).

It's not hard.

We've managed for years with notices put up such as 'Workmen on premises', 'Male cleaner in facility', etc.

This informs women and gives them the choice on whether to use a female only facility whilst a male medic/cleaner/repairman is temporarily allowed access for a legitimate reason.

That is totally different to allowing all males to use female facilities whenever they like without telling women or allowing their consent.

It would be a completely unenforcable law, that is without invasive medical tests/intrusive ID checks, and the collateral damage of masculine looking women being fired/harassed/hurt. (Yes, that last part is already happening) I would suggest to any trans women or masculine natal women reading this that you do not have to prove anything, and nobody can prove your biology without the aforementioned invasive/intrusive tests. If challenged you simply need to say 'I'm entitled to use this space' and use it. Easier said than done of course, and not to be done if it would put you in danger.

None of my trans friends are going to forced out of spaces that they've been using forever, while I'm around. I'll speak up for them and I'll go with them. Whether that's accompanying them to the women's, or if push really does come to shove, coming with them in to the men's. After all I'm one of those masculine looking women (bald, tall, muscular, wears 'men's' clothes) that have been bullied out of changing rooms and given dirty looks.

It's about all single sex spaces, so it'll cut both ways and affect jobs and expectations in wider areas than is perhaps obvious.

OK then no men in women's spaces without a legitimate reason; and also mandate that women's facilities must be provided, not just organisations can provide them if they like.

Me are not permitted in female spaces it’s as simple as that

and you and your friends need to accept that the law clearly says biological sex counts so your friends need to use the men’s or third spaces not the female facilities, groups etc etc

Well - that will be tricky for you then! Men identifying as women won't be allowed in women's spaces but are allowed in men's spaces. You mention being a woman, so it will be the opposite for you... Going to be tricky to find any single-sex spaces that allow both as the law already forbids it and has for 15+ years.

The reality is that the majority of people in the UK are law abiding. For some reason a small group of people not only decided to ignore the law some years ago, but spent a lot of time telling everyone that the law was somehow different. Fortunately the law has been clarified by the Supreme Court to be the simple biological basis that everyone really knew - and will be further confirmed by the EHRC in their guidance - but none of that has changed the law, the law has been the same for 15+ years.

I think that the scale of disinformation over the last 15 years was so great it was understandable that people were fooled into thinking that they were entitled to use any facilities as they wished - but there is now so much black and white clarity that there is no longer an excuse...

so any man wanting to use women's facilities (and let's be realistic that is the most likely scenario) will be clearly stating that they plan to break the law.

As well as breaking the law around single-sex spaces, they will now open themselves up to all the consequential implications - why are they in a single-sex space for the opposite sex:

• safeguarding issues
• sexual predator
• ???

The consequences are likely to be quite serious. Some of those men may blag it / bluff and say that no-one will challenge them, but they have oppressed women so strongly over the last 15 years they should not expect that women will take it lying down - the safe knowledge of the truth being backed up by the Supreme Court / Government guidance / the law / etc. will support those same women who have been intimidated and abused over the years in bringing justice when men carry on transgressing...
